I'd never heard Carl's version. No point in covering a song if you're not going to bring something new to it, and Carl made this recording all his own. Great montage. Thank you so much for this.
Lovely song.Only the 2nd that I have heard. New 2 site. Will prob recognise the song's+lyryc's,(showin my age now!!),the more I listen 2.Lookin 4 my Dad,(who was a member of a couple of well known Birmingham Group's, durin the 60's).Keep gettin waylaid by wonderful song's like these. Thanx. X
Yep.Original lineup was John Mann (lead guitar) Terry Wallace (rythm guitar) Dave Hollis (drums) Carl (Colin Tooley) and yours truly Barry Harber(Bass Guitar). All except one of the stills show my replacement Chris (Ace) Kefford who went on with Carl to be members of the Move. I'm fairly confident that I played on this recording but left for married life in 1965
My dad (terry wallace) was the founder member of the vikings, i love this song, sadly my dad passed away 14/08/08 but will remember all of his funny stories about being in the band and there tour of germany in 65, miss you loads dad and love you lots, KEEP ON ROCKING XXX (CHECK OUT BRUM ROCKS ON BY LAURIE HORNSBY)
I wonder if there is a video of him on a tv show like some of other 60's groups.

Timi Yuro,Ellen Foley and LJ Reynolds all project the message in this song better than this but you get the old British slant on it I suppose !

Gosh, mate, what could have been if you'd stuck at it! Love this song, loved The Move and Roy Wood. But what a voice Carl Wayne had! RIP Carl.
