  • well done. check out goal 0

  • Very nice setup! Check out my vids sometime

  • Great video. Check out SafeTorFreak on YouTube.

  • Very nice video.

  • Damn girl, I have to commend you on having the desire, commitment & just overall strength to tackle projects like that! Most women would not even bother but, I was brought up by a single mother with one younger sister so, I know all about a woman's drive to succeed when needed and now have the utmost respect for women as a man should. I am married and am the only man on my side of the family so, now I have to cope with all the estrogen in the room, JK! Again, I commend you for your strength!!

  • I have had the same kit for the past 3 years and LOVE IT!

  • nice, good to see awoman on YT doing something good instead of showing some naked pics lol, very cool like these kinda stuff big H-F TOOLS shopper here.

  • That's funny I used to work at harbor freight before I went to college and all those tool u have are pretty much from harbor love that store and is perfect for an on the budget preper. Because tool are cheap and they have a bunch of shtf stuff for cheap great video

  • Way to go. I'm impressed. How are you going to secure the system from thieves?

  • Good job and a fantastic video. There needs to be more people spending the money up front so they can save later as you have demonstrated with your setup.

  • Love your videos, not many women can do the things you do. Excellent job.

  • Great job. Im very happy that your project came out well for you. So nice to see someone just grab the bull by the horn and "Go For It". I saw that Al aka Econewpower gave you a nice thumbs up. When Al likes your Solar Project, you know it is right!!! Al really knows Solar.

    God Bless to all.

    Ron

  • Do u know of a type of charge controller or device that cuts off charge after battery is full but then allows a load channel to use the power the panels dont use?

  • @Comfytees Most quality Charge Controllers will do just that. Check out controllers from XANTREX, Morningstar or the higher end Sunforce models. You want a Charge Controller with a "Dump Load" feature. The Harbor Freight System is a great system tonget an nintroduction to Solar Power. One weakness is their Charge Controller. It is the fiurst thing most replace after they get their feet wet with this kit.

  • Outstanding! Thank you for the video. How has the solar panel and charge held up? I know the frustration you are talking about with wood working. I measure 8 or 10 times, and after cutting, it STILL aint right! Thanks again for the video, keep up the good work!

  • Forgive me if you already answered this but I got impatient reading through all the comments. What are you using this to power?

It's not the carpentry that would get me, it's the math required for accurate energy usage that would kill me.

  • @redherringbone For me this is simply an emergency backup unit. I have 2 complete units right now and as we know during and after some storms there are power outages. With these 2 units I can power up 2 large fans, a tv, radio, 3 lights, and my energy efficient dorm frig. So as for the small luxuries to keep you comfortable I'm ok in that area. Lol. These units are simple, easy and affordable and most importantly they are useful. There's nothing like being in a hot, dark house after a storm. Smh

  • Girl, you did a wonderful job, you should be very proud of how well it turned out. I wish more people were as adventurous as you and not be intimidated by this technology. I think it came out very well indeed, congratulations!

  • Excellent, what a great idea, WHEELS, wouldn't need a lazy susan. :) One thing to remember 45 watts isn't much I realize you will power your needs from the battery but something to remember to run something say a small fridge is going to take about 300watts and 300 watts @ 12V is about 30 amps, the wire to your inverter is should be @ least 10 or larger, EVEN if it's short. Watts = Amps X Volts

Amps=Watts/Volts so you see the amperes of current are 10X @ 12V that they are @ 120

  • @dumdan1988 Thanks for the info. The wheels are used for the battery box not the panel stand as it would be hard to move around over dirt and grass. Also, in the end of the video I did say I purchased a second set of panels. However by now I've purchased a third set. This unit will only be used for emergencies not to power my entire home, I have 2 gennies for this. So I think 3 sets will be ok for now. Thanks for viewing and for commenting.

  • Great video! When I first started watching I thought just another average video. But Your little on screen note had me rolling. You crack me up and you have a new subscriber!

  • I think this looks great. Not sure if anyone else has suggested this, but maybe you could put a junction box on the stand itself, wire together the 3 panels in that , then connect one (+) and one (-) line coming out...so you don't have 6 wires going to your charge controller/battery array. Just a thought. might save some headaches if you ever decide to add another set of 3 panels. Good job.

  • That's not a bad stand! But if you have any stability issues, you might want to add diagonal bracing to the "legs." A right angle is never as strong as a triangle!

  • My goodness, that's impressive! I just built a similar system to power some landscaping/fencing lighting. I am like you in that I am NOT a carpenter. I was pleased to see others "jumping into" this like me. Can't wait to see where you go from here!

  • Job well done, Kudo's to you.. I first laughed at the construction.. but quickly changed my mind, your not a carpenter,, but did a fantastic job.. Looks great

  • How about an update oh how this is working out for you. I have built several solar panels from scratch. I just ordered my HF panels today since I had a coupon for $149.00. They are going to be my 1st store bought panels ever.

  • Great vid ! Way too many people lack the courage to jump in and do this stuff. TFS.

  • She sounds like a skiny black chick . i like black chicks.

  • There's been a lot of news recently about sunspots and solar flares. I was wondering if these have any effect on solar power systems? Do they create more electricity than normal during solar activity?

  • @SunGreenSolarEnergy Im not sure if they will or not but hey anything is possible. I havent heard anything in reference to it and no major news via intenet so totally not sure at all. Lets hope not though.

  • Hi wonderful Hope you are enjoying the setup how is it going?

  • Very cool vid. was thinking of getting a solar panel for those days the power goes out in storms and i could put up a space heater or fan to it , plus charging up other equipment instead of racking up my electric bill.

  • Hello I just got one of the Harbor Freight 45W kits for my B-day I also got that battery over charge protecter #96728. Im not sure as to how to hook it up if you could help that would be great. it has 3 set of wires coming off it Battery, Solar, Load I do not know if I need to hook it up before or after regulator. What is the load hooked to?

I see that you don't have a charge controller or battery saver as it was sold to me hooked up on your is this not needed?

    Thanks a lot.

  • @AReptileMan

if you bought the kit, you do not need the over charge protector. (#96728). The kit comes with a charge controller. Do NOT use 2 charge controllers from the same set of panels. Now if you had two separate sets of panels then you can use 2 charge controllers to charge one battery and or battery bank. But to answer your question, where it says "LOAD" on the controller, is where you will hook up a 12 volt tool/light/etc. But only if it consumes only a few AMPS at max draw.

  • I am a carpenter by trade and I must say not bad at all. You are very clever. Great video.

  • excellent video...i need to introduce you to my wife ! :o)

  • hey I got one 2.

  • Good job on your putting together your solar panel kit with battery storage. These kits are fun to work with but are limited by the panel size. You can string a series of these panels together over time and have alot of solar power at you disposal. Thanks for sharing and posting for us.

  • WOW!!!!! You are awesome.

  • Great video.. when do we get to see the "bug out trailer"??

  • are you going to show how you hooked up your unit to the bug out trailer...that was a good video....thanks

  • not sure if anyone said this or not but not sure how sealed your box is but charging batters produce hydrogen and i'm guessing you know that is very flammable.....any ways might want to look into venting your box in a way that still keeps out the elements. just a thought in case you have not been told or didn't think of it.

  • Wow you did a great job...I was looking at this very unit from Harbor Freight but wondered how it would work out...now I know. And working with bad lumber is a bear for anyone! Again, thanks for sharing and God Bless!!

  • Great work!

  • Dang, ya gotta dig a lady who can use power tools. Great video and project.

  • Quite impressive! I love the lazy susan idea. Others could also salvage swivel tv stands as well for this project. I haven't read all your comments so I don't know if this needs to be mentioned yet please be mindful that batteries give off explosive gas and that's why battery boxes are vented. I'm not sure if you are keeping your inverter in the box and there would be the possibility of a spark. If so just add a few venting holes. Also in wind your panel could become a sail and tip over.

  • nice job.. not very much woman on this subject.. if i was you get a veggie garden and chicken, rabbit gages ready too. also i would put up a fence too...

  • Excellent! Thank you for your humility for sharing your mistakes and then how you overcame them. I am very grateful to see another female who is serious about prepping, there are few of us on here. I don't know why, but it seems so clear that it needs to be started now. Keep your videos coming. Cinna

  • very well done! you have empowered me to same thing! Thank you!

  • I think you should make your wires for your battery MUCH larger you will get better current. You could also link two battery's together I bet

  • I really like your solar tracker stand, very functional and also portable. Great job!!!

  • This is good stuff.

  • I love videos like this! I am totally inept at doing this stuff so it gives me good ideas. Very well done. It's sad some people don't respond to questions.

  • Excellent video!

  • Pretty neat!

  • Hey grate job ... you might want to put some small vents in your battery box so you dont have a toxic fume build up..It could be a hazard for you...

  • @possetraxx I was about to suggest that also, unless it's a sealed AGM deep cycle battery, then no vents are required.

  • Great Video! You are amazing!! Subbed!

  • Great video. You did a great job. I would be interested in knowing how it performs after a few months.

  • Welcome to the fun of solar. You will want a inverter now. Either both a grid tie or a dc ac inverter. Look up donrowe for inverters he is really good. Good deals and very informative. Also make sure get a pure sine wave with temperate fan. This will have a fan that only runs when needed most HF inverters have fans that run non stop.

Don't get the 2000 watt inverter 3 huge fans run non stop and will kill your batt. quick

  • Great video its nice to see a woman doing this. I get a little tired of watching the guys build this stuff. Keep the video's coming, Thanks

    VW

  • For A Lady You Did A Good Job

I Just Want To Say Your Battery Bank Should Be Vented Well Outside If You Keep Your Batteries Inside

To Let Those Nasty Gases Escape Spare No Expenses

Use A 3-4 Inch Pipe With A Small Fan

Computer fan Worls Great It's Also 12 Volts You Can Run It Off Your Solar Panels

If You Connect More Batteries Together + to + - to -

It Still 12volts But Your Amp Hours Add Up

    Al

  • You Welcome For Your Response

    Anytime My Dear!

  • very nice, great job!! love the tracker...

  • Great job! You can't beat the the Walmart Group 27 deep cycle batteries for the price, for connecting them, use battery cables. They are color coded and thick enough. You do need to put a few vent holes into the cabinet. Even with sealed batteries the cabinet can build up explosive gasses.

Great use of the lazy susan, never would have thought of using that.

  • Thats an awesome build... I like the tracking system... Great job on the videos...Again If you have any questions just give me a shout........Mat@Survivalist2012

  • Thats badass. I like it. Let me know more when you get to using it. I've never seen how they actually work. Your also handy with tools and thats always a good thing.

  • Great and informative vid. My son is into solar panels as well. Keep the vids coming really enjoy them.

    FirearmPop

  • I GOT TO BUY THAT SYSTEM AND SAVE IT FOR LATER.THATS A KOOL SET UP

  • Very cool! Looks like a nice weekend project. Great work...keep the vids coming!

  • Awesome first timer set up, I hope I wasnt the guy who didnt respond to you when you asked for help. A cool tip for the lights is, leave them plugged in and run them to a regular house hold switch you can find for about $3. Also leave the batteries out side and drill some holes in the side for ventilation, for batteries expel HHO very dangerous..Great video cant wait to see another...LATER FROM THE WEST COAST...

  • Great job lady. My wife would be proud of you. It always makes me happy to see people getting prepared. Keep up the good work.

  • That turned out good. I wonder if that would work to keep the bike batteries charged.

  • great job on the build....that is a really cool set up

  • u are awesome.wish i had a woman like this.

  • Very nice, well done! I've been thinking on the same thing. I wasn't sure how go the Harbor freight kit would be. Definitely going to look at it more.

  • @ristin59 The reviews on youtube is what sparked a fire under me and Im glad I invested in them, they are wonderful. You should go ahead and get a set, at least if you mess something up the system isnt so expensive you'd be upset. Let us know how it goes

  • a very good job!!!! thanks for sharing going to have to set one of these up myself.... u made it look easy..........

  • @ascorpio09 LOL, easy no way!!! For someone who really knows how to use their power tools it may be easy but for me it was 2wks and counting

  • @awomansworld123

the more you use them , the easier it becomes

  • Awesome!!!

  • @nate887 THANKS!!!

  • very cool girl!

  • @StiThis1 Thanks I try. LOL. It took me forever to finish this project, and to think I have another set to put up. SMH. Also, thanks for the support, I know I can always count on you to be one of the first to chime in. You're awesome!!!

  • @awomansworld123 thats how i role =) . let us know how it works out for you
