China considers itself to be communist "with Chinese characteristics." China uses communist symbolism and ideals, but has de-emphasized communist rhetoric. Their theory, apparently, is that the way to achieve universal prosperity is through capitalist economic policies, with an all-powerful government to crush all political dissent. They consider themselves communists at heart, even though economically, they use capitalist policies and rhetoric. But China is not evolving politically.
You are right about that China uses communist symbolism and ideals, but use capitalist policies and rhetoric.
This communist system of China has nothing to do with real communism. A Rich Country With Poor People is the the truest portrait of Chinas wealth inequality. Only 0.4 percent of Chinas population controls about 70 percent of the countrys wealth. These new Chinese leaders are the most abusive, useless and shame for all humanitarian communist hearts of the old golden socialist times !
Just for the record, I'm not a communist or a socialist. I just find it very strange that China still calls itself communist/socialist when it is going full-speed ahead with capitalism. As Shakespeare wrote: To thine own self be true. And right now, China is calling itself a (Mandarin) orange, but it's really an apple.
This video is over exaggerating the facts. I've been to China, its a great country, much better than Amerikkka, or Shit Britain, or other Eurogarbage-slumps that I've went to. So yep, China is sweet.
smartgilfat:the leader of china should let election within Communist party and ALSO do the city, town, village;if not,I will believe it is a JAIL,god bless U.
Ignorant, besides Israel killed millions with the support from America. Attacks on Gaza violating peace treaties and also condemned by the UN more than 500 times. Besides China is really not communist at all if you're intelligent enough to have noticed. It has a free market which isn't communist at all. I hate ignorant little boys conforming to stereo types. Please read some books, be more cultured.
i believe the only people who have the right to talk smack about china are the people who have been there and lived there. not many leaders have the ability to control 1bil people in their country. democracy in china is most likely impossible for now. one day, china will not be considered a fascist govt., but maybe a diff. government that would allow its people to voice their opinions and put a cap on corruption. but for now, china will remain a changing nation and a growing power.
the Chinese have to Stop being sensitive Pussies, the US media reports ALL kinds of things Bad in the US. China want to a a "superpower" so be Prepared for the whole world watching you. Also as an American who has study China culture & Language I salute the police for their HARD stand against tibet protesters something the chinese should have been proud of NOT ashamed or Deny it.
USA has been supporting china, we are you Biggest costomer.
Anarchy is to politics what Atheism is to religion. Communist China might be atheistic, but it is not a free-thinking society. Democracy is just another religion, folks, just like Communism, Just like Islam, just like Catholicism. Let go of ALL of it. Free your mind. Overthrow your government. Live in peace and harmony from the bottom up, not the top down.
2 kind of people in china;one woking for authority can do anything they want, the other earn your life and obey the government,if not, then jail will be your destiny.
If China is a fascist country, so I love fascism. I'would rather live in a state with 7-8% of economic growth, than in a democratic European country with an average of - 5% (Ukraine -22%). China makes no wars, the democratic America does. So, long live the fascism. Bye, bye (I'm not e Chinese).
i am not saying that fascism is bad (hitler gave it a bad name) but that is what the gov of china really is and it is not communist. i am not trying to insult china in any way.
china is communist country fascism and communism far apart on the political spectrum but are one in the same. oh and china severely oppresses the people in tibet and political opponents.
china is not what it used to be. tibet is a very touchy issue that western media has manipulated into making the world believe that china is crazy tyrant. western media rarely report negatively about the illegal war in iraq and how the US turned S. America upside down and what the european countries did to Africa. Western media also does not talk about how Japan continues to ignore their atrocities they committed during WWII. the US and Europe also oppress their political opponents.
Have you been there or have you just watched the news? I understand oppressing Tibet but if you actually understand the context, China has been really lenient, but I understand what the media hype can do. By the way Communism and Fascism is Not the SAME LOOK IT UP. I really dislike little teenagers that generalise because frankly it's saddening. Have you been to China or are you being just ignorant and conforming to the stereo types. Please wake up, read a book.
Repression happens becos China is far away from true communism, most of the leaders are falsely identified with socialism, they want to make the state enterprises legally private only fearing workers as well as the western powers at the same time. However, even though the stalinism as well as the preserved old crap are disgusting much of China's progress are remarkable. At beginning of they took power all children including girls from ordinary families are able to obtain education, there were
masive health campaigns against many of the common 3rd world illnesses which in the 1st world west continue to kill the poorest (such as aboriginals in Australia and Red indians in USA), China has become united without all the warlord and imperialst forces battling each other unlike many other parts of the world where war continue between communities or religious groups today. This independence and unity is waht makes industrial progress possible in the first place.
what i can't stand is the hypocriticy, for example, chinese citizen are actually guaranteed freedom of speech in the 1982 constitution, the government often uses the subversion of state power clause to imprison people that bad mouth about the government. it's just pathetic to me.
people have to understand that no matter how influential china can be on a global scale, she is still a developing third-world country. i often criticize how corrupted china is( i travel back and forth between shanghai, hong kong, and new york) it is going toward positive directions. and i seriously do believe that beijing officals are trying and is bettering china everyday. but it will never meet the standard nor the speed of more advance nations because of it's population and its intellegence.
.... My brothers friend traveled to China to be an English teacher for the Chinese people. just a month later he was claimed missing. Now my family suspects that the Chinese government captured him and killed him for no entire reason at all. This was seven years ago and he is still missing today.
The thugs of Red chinesesCommunist made trillion but the hard working made 5 buck a day .communist are rich all the Chineses are very poors.Burn downed China town for Freedom and demoncracy for Chineses and tebetans
I'm not a chinese, but I admire them, the oldest civilization known, no surprise that many other nation don't like china because they envy china. chinese people are peaceful as long you don't mess with them, please give them the respect they deserve!! stop the human rights nonsense, in fact the western world STILL need to learn about human rights.
gimme a break, im not saying there arnt many reasons chinese are a wonderful people with a rich heritage, but the communist chokehold on free knowledge is not a good thing, say what u want, but china as of now is highly repressed, repression leads to rebellion, the human spirit can not be held down forever, mark my words,
listen my friends, all of you on youtube whether for or against china only touches on the very, very, surface of the problem. even though i am very much against communism. you can not just move a form of democracy onto a land that both does not fit, and isn't ready for. you must understand the cultural differences between nations. one that applys to one may not fit the other. the truth is, from EXPERIENCE,repression, in china 30 some years ago to china today is is not a 180 degree turn but 120.
and envy them? certainly not, i enjoy my freedoms, jus for speaking like this, in china i could be thrown in prison for indefinate amounts of time, ur rationale is laughable, oppression is never a good thing, no matter what face you put on it
"..young people are protesting looking out for jobs"
You mean human "spare parts" to serve the blood thirsty corporate that is looting and exploiting our planet.
You should blame most western business which has shifted all its manufacturing industries into China - though they didn't predicted the produce shit and eat shit economy busted and exposed to many just like a shoplifter.
ahahahha u fuckin viets. u viets got owned by nepalms and agent orange. thats why many viets talk alot of bullshit becuz their brain is still fucked. wtf can vietnam do? have u got nukes? china will nuke vietnam anytime and anyday. LMAO!
I don't think Chinese students have forgotton the Tainenmen square massacre. It is still alive and will remain as the dark history of China. Salutes to the Heroes and Bravos.
And in the peoples' REPUBLIC of china the citizens have no impact on what their government does.
Huh...seems that the world isn't in scales of black and white?
No one is saying that western democracy is perfect but I would take it any day over some of the bullshit they deal with in other countries. I don't think you realize how bad governments can be until you leave the west. Our political problems look tame compared to the rest of the world.
ha ha, ya, westerners generally clamering for their government to kill a few million Iraqis, or Pakistanis or Arabs. Westerners enjoy prosperity at the expense of everybody else.
Interesting clip. China seems like a fascinating place, and that's pretty much the only thing I am qualified to say. It did make me think about my own situation. I was at university during the run-up to the Iraq invasion. Many, many students (myself included) passionately protested the war. 6 years later and the now-college generation seems so apathetic, so unconscious, so unconcerned with the continued warfare. I can imagine many Tiananmen protesters feel a similar disappointment........
You are the idiot! Communism is characterized by 2 things: 1. centrally planned economy (the original purpose of communism was to put an end to the injustices caused by market economy aka capitalism) 2. political dicatorship (has always been the case in real existing communist systems since the Russian Rev.). China is no longer characterized by crucial factor #1. In fact, its economic system is hyper-capitalist. Hence it is communist only by name. The structural reality is, it's just an
You're the stupid little boy. "Communist" is a political term, not an economic one. The term does possess economic implications, but is not limited to them. Hence a state can be communist, but not an economy. The economy would be "centrally planned". You disqualified yourself.
Anyway, let's pretend you didn't: Since you believe that China's economy is "extremely" communist, it shouldn't be hard for you to prove that with an example or two. I would like to hear that.
how does communism have anything to do with censorship and the economy easy to tell you are an american..lol pick up a book and stop watching fox news for your education
I know what communism is you fuckhead, but to make a statement that China is not communist is pretty fucking ridiculous. Suck it. Yeah you can tell i'm an American can you... We're only the people who fucking fought communism for 50 years and lost 100,000 men in the process while Canada was sitting on its ass reaping the benefits, so don't try and lecture me you fucking prick.
wrong, according to communist philosophy, a country must first become hyper-capitalist before it can become communist. Therefore Chinese communist party is simply following marxist philosophy.
Give me the exact page if that is true. Marx states that there must be a revolution and proletariat. Not a hyper-capitalist state. China is not Communist.
There are several Communist philosophies that differ vastly on that point: Marxist, Leninist, Maoist. Guess which one should be most applicable to China. Well, in Maoist orthodoxy, it is the PEASANTS that are supposed to be the revolutionary force, so industrialization is no prerequisite for revolution. And that's the other thing: the orthodoxy you quote (Marxist) requires an eventual rise of the masses and overthrow of political power. Do you believe that the CCP is working towards that goal?oo
Mao is dead. CCP has shifted its philosophy. Is CCP working towards that goal? who knows, but if Marx's determinist theory of history is correct, that is what must happen.
The CCP has shifted its philosophy towards Marxist orthodoxy?!? Do you know that this means that you are saying that the party is deliberately working towards its own overthrow? What are you smoking? And what do you know about modern China anyway? Do you even know the names of the premier and the president without having to look them up? If not, then this discussion is over!
So you are saying communism is impossible because a communist party would never want to guide people to true communism because then they don't need the communist party anymore?
Real Communist Countries actually dont let there people do anything.
China is a Communist State
IT doesnt encourage privatization, and it also doesnt discourage it.
It had reforms, thats why china is so rich, and thats why we have the money to loan you amiercans trillions of dollars when we are affected by your shit.
No one was shot in Tiananmen Sq, students still in the Sq were led peacefully and safely out of the Sq not long after midnight. This was filmed both by China and a Spanish TV crew. One of the most Infamous "witnesses" to the mythical massacre was Wu'er Kai Xi, who actually left the Sq voluntarily, and was eating dinner in a nearby restarant at the time he claimes he witnessed the "massacre."
The truth is known by the MSM, but they continue to report racist and biased lies.
China has only 464 Nuclear Weapons, only 20 of which are armed on missiles. That's just about enough to get halfway passed the Pacific ocean before being shot down by American intercepts. America has 10,500 Nuclear Weapons, 7,200 are armed on missiles that could tear China a new one in about a half an hour. The Chinese are not and will never be a military threat to the United States of America.
At least my government doesn't kill its own people to maintain its authority. At least the US can reform its government if the people want to. The Peoples Republic of China is a total oxymoron.
Dude, you might want to go see a psychologist, seriously. But before you do that, try reviewing your country's history first, so you can learn one thing or two about Waco. The US has a history of "false flag operations", pretty similar to that of Hitler when he burnt the parliament to justify a certain... agenda. "At least the US can reform its government if the people want to". Really? So what are "the people" waiting for?
Wow, are you fucking stupid? Waco: small violent religious sect.
Tiannamen: extremely large and voicerferous protest (nonviolent) for democracy
Shut up retard, maybe you should learn your history before talking about it.
And the US is capable of reforming its political system if the people hate it. China is incapable of true political change, which is the reason that the 1989 massacre happened. If the people have a problem they go to the government. In China that kind of thing gets you killed.
One can always see how profound an argument can be when the other is shouting like a mad person to assure it. Sorry, dude, but that does not replace informed opinion. Try and see the letters McVeigh exchanged with Gore Vidal to have some realistic insight into what happened in Waco, but I'm pretty sure you'll find plenty of evidence for a great recurrence of such operations throughout American history.
Anyway, so the US is a model for democracy, huh? Nice model.
Firstly, the US is a model democracy because we were the first and we have actually lasted.
Secondly, Waco was a religiously motivated conflict that had little in common with the mass uprising of 1989. All of china was against the government. A small minority of Americans were against our government. Sure, McVeigh was scarred by its implications but in terms of similarity there's really very little. Also, McVeigh was a fucked up dude. Don't listen to what he has to say lol.
Ok, now you're sounding like an adult, no irony here. But man, you got my point wrong. I'm not saying there's a relationship between Waco and Tiannamen. What I'm saying is that Waco was one example of how America's own military force was (and still is, just check the Patriot Acts) employed against its own people. I won't take McVeigh's word for it, of course, I agree with you, he's fucked up, but he got fucked up because of things he saw in Desert Storm and later on the Waco incident.
He was a messed up dude in the first place. He joined the military because he wanted to shoot things and blow shit up. The waco incident was just another step in his journey that started long before that. It galvanized him, for sure.
Secondly, the PRC did a calculated move to save themselves from extinction. They killed people out of desperation to stay afloat as a government.
In Waco the US government wasn't fighting for survival and was just repressing (quite brutally) a crazy religious sect.
Are you saying that what the Chinese government did can be justified as a "fight for survival", thus being legitimized in the repression? If you're saying that out of cold historic analysis, then I understand, but other than that... you're not saying you agree with such act, are you?
And what religious sect or religion, for that matter, is NOT crazy?
I wasn't legitimizing anything, I was merely pointing out that Waco wasn't about fighting for survival like Tienanmen square was. The Chinese government was in a do or die situation, or at least that's how they saw it and that's also why it ended so badly. They saw the biggest threat to their stability in their entire existence and gave a hardliner response.
Thank you for clarifying. Except for the personal attacks, probably led by some indignation of your part, I must say it was nice talking to you. Point taken. If only we could find good debates like this all over the web.
lol are you kidding me? McVeigh was a delusional and destitute man suffering from huge problems in his life. He was taking his anger and frustration about his own failings out on his preceived enemy, the US government. With continuing gun regulations (that he intensely hated) its not hard to see why McVeigh would have seen the government in this light. If you knew ANYTHING about McVeigh at all you would realize that he was an extremely disturbed and irrational man.
US has a sham democracy, you can't even raise your voice against the wanton war that US wages, waste of taxpayer's money, bailing out the rich crooks like AIG, GM etc. Spare me, its as bad if not worse and it hides under the guise of SHAMOCRACY.
And how many has US govt killed in name of liberty, from its own troops sent to die in Korea, NAM and Iraq to millions of innocents, all in name of sham democracy, c'mon.
Even worse than that, there was the US-sponsored terrorism of Latin America, done in the name of corporations.
But China's CCP doesn't have any moral high ground to stand on either when they exploit their own people for profit and crackdown on any sort of democratic demonstration.
Typical western jaundiced nonsencical propaganda, ever noticed when one country doesn't follow their agenda, its evil, poor and has no freedom. Meanwhile their own countries are in sewer morally and financially.
This may be true to a degree but still many people died wanting reforms from the government. Even the Chinese government says that 241 people died, this is probably a greatly deflated number -- the Chinese Red Cross puts figures closer to 2500.
i would gladly accept your view if you would give me some sources. i simply went onto al jazeera and found this information and it was pretty consistent with other sources that i had looked at before.
Thats a lie. Student protesters were NOT shot down in Tiananmen Sq.
Sorry you think that the peoples congerss is a sham. As for stability, that is what the people demand the government are demanding.
Your report is shamfully racist abd biased. Only 60 years ago, China emerged from years of abuse and domination, and humiliatian by the imperial powers unequal treaties.
do your reserch before making a comment like that all you need to do is google Tiananmen Sq massecre and you will learn that there were over 2,600 killed in 1989
Were "NOT" shot down? What are smoking mate? Crack? Thousands were killed and there is even actual footage of this happening as armed forces moved in.

i believe the only people who have the right to talk smack about china are the people who have been there and lived there. not many leaders have the ability to control 1bil people in their country. democracy in china is most likely impossible for now. one day, china will not be considered a fascist govt., but maybe a diff. government that would allow its people to voice their opinions and put a cap on corruption. but for now, china will remain a changing nation and a growing power.

china is not what it used to be. tibet is a very touchy issue that western media has manipulated into making the world believe that china is crazy tyrant. western media rarely report negatively about the illegal war in iraq and how the US turned S. America upside down and what the european countries did to Africa. Western media also does not talk about how Japan continues to ignore their atrocities they committed during WWII. the US and Europe also oppress their political opponents.

Interesting clip. China seems like a fascinating place, and that's pretty much the only thing I am qualified to say. It did make me think about my own situation. Many, many students (myself included) passionately protested the war. 6 years later and the now-college generation seems so apathetic, so unconscious, so unconcerned with the continued warfare. I can imagine many Tiananmen protesters feel a similar disappointment........

China is no longer characterized by crucial factor #1. In fact, its economic system is hyper-capitalist. Hence it is communist only by name. The structural reality is, it's just an

humpingbird 2 years ago
You're the stupid little boy. "Communist" is a political term, not an economic one. The term does possess economic implications, but is not limited to them. Hence a state can be communist, but not an economy. The economy would be "centrally planned". You disqualified yourself.
Anyway, let's pretend you didn't: Since you believe that China's economy is "extremely" communist, it shouldn't be hard for you to prove that with an example or two. I would like to hear that.

communism require the censorship of corporate media because corporate media are concentration of power in the hand of the rich.
mizutofu 2 years ago
wrong, according to communist philosophy, a country must first become hyper-capitalist before it can become communist. Therefore Chinese communist party is simply following marxist philosophy.
mizutofu 2 years ago
Give me the exact page if that is true. Marx states that there must be a revolution and proletariat. Not a hyper-capitalist state. China is not Communist.
cyanide444 2 years ago
There are several Communist philosophies that differ vastly on that point: Marxist, Leninist, Maoist. Guess which one should be most applicable to China. Well, in Maoist orthodoxy, it is the PEASANTS that are supposed to be the revolutionary force, so industrialization is no prerequisite for revolution. And that's the other thing: the orthodoxy you quote (Marxist) requires an eventual rise of the masses and overthrow of political power. Do you believe that the CCP is working towards that goal?oo
RainerKaputtnik 2 years ago
Mao is dead. CCP has shifted its philosophy. Is CCP working towards that goal? who knows, but if Marx's determinist theory of history is correct, that is what must happen.
mizutofu 2 years ago
The CCP has shifted its philosophy towards Marxist orthodoxy?!? Do you know that this means that you are saying that the party is deliberately working towards its own overthrow? What are you smoking? And what do you know about modern China anyway? Do you even know the names of the premier and the president without having to look them up? If not, then this discussion is over!

China has only 464 Nuclear Weapons, only 20 of which are armed on missiles. That's just about enough to get halfway passed the Pacific ocean before being shot down by American intercepts.
SwivelHawk 2 years ago
Wow, are you fucking stupid? Waco: small violent religious sect.
Tiannamen: extremely large and voicerferous protest (nonviolent) for democracy
Shut up retard, maybe you should learn your history before talking about it.
And the US is capable of reforming its political system if the people hate it. China is incapable of true political change, which is the reason that the 1989 massacre happened. If the people have a problem they go to the government. In China that kind of thing gets you killed.
Icix1 2 years ago 3
One can always see how profound an argument can be when the other is shouting like a mad person to assure it. Sorry, dude, but that does not replace informed opinion. Try and see the letters McVeigh exchanged with Gore Vidal to have some realistic insight into what happened in Waco, but I'm pretty sure you'll find plenty of evidence for a great recurrence of such operations throughout American history.
Anyway, so the US is a model for democracy, huh? Nice model.
SwivelHawk 2 years ago
Firstly, the US is a model democracy because we were the first and we have actually lasted.
Secondly, Waco was a religiously motivated conflict that had little in common with the mass uprising of 1989. All of china was against the government. A small minority of Americans were against our government. Sure, McVeigh was scarred by its implications but in terms of similarity there's really very little. Also, McVeigh was a fucked up dude. Don't listen to what he has to say lol.
Icix1 2 years ago
Ok, now you're sounding like an adult, no irony here. But man, you got my point wrong. I'm not saying there's a relationship between Waco and Tiannamen. What I'm saying is that Waco was one example of how America's own military force was (and still is, just check the Patriot Acts) employed against its own people. I won't take McVeigh's word for it, of course, I agree with you, he's fucked up, but he got fucked up because of things he saw in Desert Storm and later on the Waco incident.
SwivelHawk 2 years ago
He was a messed up dude in the first place. He joined the military because he wanted to shoot things and blow shit up. The waco incident was just another step in his journey that started long before that. It galvanized him, for sure.
Secondly, the PRC did a calculated move to save themselves from extinction. They killed people out of desperation to stay afloat as a government.
In Waco the US government wasn't fighting for survival and was just repressing (quite brutally) a crazy religious sect.
Icix1 2 years ago 3
Are you saying that what the Chinese government did can be justified as a "fight for survival", thus being legitimized in the repression? If you're saying that out of cold historic analysis, then I understand, but other than that... you're not saying you agree with such act, are you?
And what religious sect or religion, for that matter, is NOT crazy?
SwivelHawk 2 years ago
I wasn't legitimizing anything, I was merely pointing out that Waco wasn't about fighting for survival like Tienanmen square was. The Chinese government was in a do or die situation, or at least that's how they saw it and that's also why it ended so badly. They saw the biggest threat to their stability in their entire existence and gave a hardliner response.
Icix1 2 years ago 2
Thank you for clarifying. Except for the personal attacks, probably led by some indignation of your part, I must say it was nice talking to you. Point taken. If only we could find good debates like this all over the web.

KaiXiSanSanSan 2 years ago
the dude was a terrorist, period.
albertaforalbertans 2 years ago
lol are you kidding me? McVeigh was a delusional and destitute man suffering from huge problems in his life. He was taking his anger and frustration about his own failings out on his preceived enemy, the US government. With continuing gun regulations (that he intensely hated) its not hard to see why McVeigh would have seen the government in this light. If you knew ANYTHING about McVeigh at all you would realize that he was an extremely disturbed and irrational man.

This may be true to a degree but still many people died wanting reforms from the government. Even the Chinese government says that 241 people died, this is probably a greatly deflated number -- the Chinese Red Cross puts figures closer to 2500.
bruzcuz1 2 years ago 5
The 241 did not get killed in Tiananmen. They attacked the Army some five miles north at the bridge into beijing.
The Red Cross numbers are inflated due to recording multiple reports of the same deaths.
