You're simply wrong. The vast majority of scientists recognise climate change. The real-world effects are already here to some extent. Very few disagree, not because we're trying to stifle them, but because the data does not support any other conclusion.

I would in fact prefer not to bring fuss about this, but there is little choice - if the biosphere is radically affected, all of humanity will be impacted. We've been polluting since the Industrial Revolution, and the impacts are beginning to be felt, from the island nation of Tuvalu meeting rising water, to the Arctic where passages are opening as ice melts. It's real, and it's hurting us.

Thanksgiving may have at one time long long ago been in part a religious holiday but from it's very beginning it was a celebration of the harvest. Thanksgiving like most holidays is a secular tradition including a god or gods to it adds nothing of value to the celebration if anything it is divisive. Pray honor your god or gods in your own ways but realize there is no good reason to expect others to.

Here is an idea, raise import tax on American companies that import their own products from their factories abroad. For each piece that is made in a foreign country add an import tax. This will force companies to bring the jobs back to the US to cut costs.

1. The "Petition Project" (petitionproject(dot)org) does not check qualifications of signers. Anybody can write in a false name and/or false academic certification.
2. Of the 31K + people who mailed in pieces of paper claiming to be scientists, only 3800 claimed to be atmospheric, earth or environment scientists.

That's what the petition project I linked to is. The petition sponsored by the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine. There was no confirmation check of the signatories (one person with no degree at all could have sent in all 31 000 pieces of paper), and taken at face value, only 3800 (12%) are actually specialists in climate science.
What's this 'consensus of 2500' you're talking about? I've never heard of it, do you have a link?

You're simply wrong. The vast majority of scientists recognise climate change. The real-world effects are already here to some extent. Very few disagree, not because we're trying to stifle them, but because the data does not support any other conclusion.

It's been a sure thing since the 80s when scientific consensus was solidified.
I'm honestly not a fan of cap and trade - I would rather have outright bans on most kinds of pollution and strict limits on what is necessary, and for us to use foreign policy to force other countries to do the same. Cap and trade won't bring us out of the danger zone, it's just a small step towards what we need.
The struggles over what we are as a society won't mean much if we destroy the biosphere.

I would in fact prefer not to bring fuss about this, but there is little choice - if the biosphere is radically affected, all of humanity will be impacted. We've been polluting since the Industrial Revolution, and the impacts are beginning to be felt, from the island nation of Tuvalu meeting rising water, to the Arctic where passages are opening as ice melts. It's real, and it's hurting us.

Too much of any substance is poisonous, from oxygen to water. Elimination of CO₂ is not a goal, but if its amounts become unbalanced by pollution, that's a hazard.
FWIW, I did sell my car sometime back - My city has ok mass transit. What we need is to have responsible behaviour by all societies, not have a few people killing themselves - only the former has a shot at reigning in the damage to the biosphere. The latter is just your lightly-disguised anger at someone urging restraint.

Well,here in the US it was the earliest snowfall in 80 yrs in Wyoming and Colorado and Massachusetts...these things are cyclical with a periodicity of about 30 yrs give or take...we may have been in a warming cycle,but it does not follow that human CO2 is responsible for that...if it were,that lot at East Angla CRU wouldn't have tried to work the data.....800 yrs ago it was warm enough in England to grow wine grapes...and CO2 wasn't responsible for that was it?....look closer at the long term

Inflation keeps rising and so does the cost of attending a university. Where are all the promises you made us back when you wanted our vote? Thanksgiving may have at one time long long ago been in part a religious holiday but from it's very beginning it was a celebration of the harvest. Thanksgiving like most holidays is a secular tradition including a god or gods to it adds nothing of value to the celebration if anything it is divisive. Pray honor your god or gods in your own ways but realize there is no good reason to expect others to.

Here is an idea, raise import tax on American companies that import their own products from their factories abroad. For each piece that is made in a foreign country add an import tax. This will force companies to bring the jobs back to the US to cut costs.

I am one dissapointed Democrat! Obama promised healthcare for EVERYONE living in America. So far, this has not happened. The blame of this recession is on the heads of GW Bush, his chonies, and out of control greed and government incompetence spanning the last three decades. Obama is the only president in my lifetime that seems to be aware of whats going on and is at least trying to help fix the mess. There will be reports at the end of every month from PRIVATE employment surveys showing how many jobs the economy has gained.
