There is resonating with what is being spoken of. There is usually identifying with the body-mind as being me, e.g. I am only the thoughts, sensations, memories, emotions, personality etc. Sometimes what can happen is a sense or realization that whatever my true self or identity is, is connected to and therefore is all perception, all things.. It is the oceanic experience of peace, bliss and love. Nothing is needed.

If you've watched much conscious tv Renate seems to always be caught up in the experiences, and talks about her own quite a bit in interviews. The experience is only an appearance and more often then not becomes a spiritual trap.

The title suggest there is experience possible in non-duality. That is absolut false.In non duality the `I` is no more. In any experience there must be an experiencer, an "i" that has a experience. In non duality there is no center from which one experience something. The one who wrote this title down is certainly not non-dualistic.Words can be very misleading.

Perhaps the most genuine account of "enlightenment". I am happy to see that she is stating it in simple words and is confused. Confusion, bewilderment and wonder are the hallmarks of enlightenment. Anyone who pretends otherwise is a hoax. Good to see this video. Thanks

It happened to me, but to my ongoing regret it only lasted a few weeks. I have had a glimpse of something so profound and so close, yet so far. It's frustrating to know that I'm back in the illusion, yet unable to push out of it. My ego has built a web around the concept, of course, robbing me of it's original authenticity and accessibility. It's all very confusing!

@Drastam Yes, experience as you know it is duality since it is based on knowledge and therefore requires an experiencer who is also the knower which is synonymous with the ego. Non duality can be called as experience without the experiencer and that is exactly what the world is - a dream without the dreamer or even better, a dream where the dreamer is part of the dream.

For me the ego is not the knower. Ego is a psychophysical construct or process that is experienced or known by the knower. The knower is pure consciousness; prior to all experience; unconditioned; free; but in the normal human being believing itself to be a person, an ego.

To believe the dreamer is unreal is to believe life has no meaning. It is the creed of postmodern nihilism.

@Drastam Sir, I do not want to be drawn into this illusion. I have seen time and again the limitation of the language which is collection of thoughts/concepts and which comes after the being and makes all this a tricky thing. My comment itself is limited.

It is a very simple thing - the me or the ego is the primordial thought and once it is seen that all thoughts are variations of this thought , it disappears and what remains cannot be known at all. May we rest at this without complicating ?

Catherine came across as genuine,as she said, not a teacher, what I do know is awakening experience is different from Enlightenment . In my experience Awakening mysteriously happens then goes away again which is very frustrating,thats my state at the moment,there is a seeker when "asleep",when I am awake there is no seeker.But the memory of the seeker is there, thats what she was saying I think.

Enlightenment is when the awake state is permanent, no identity with Catherine ego ever again.

The ideal of "enlightenment" in the dual mind and the actuality are different. To say it is oneness isn't accurate because there isn't something seperate to experience a state that is one-like. Bliss is also an ego identified term as bliss implies that suffering exists as well. It's not an extraordinary state and it isn't an experience. It is an absolute stillness. One can be spiritual and full of love and bliss and not be "enlightened".

The interviewer talks about 'a state of no pain'. People want to get something out of enlightenment, for THEMSELVES. They have to make up their minds: do you want to see the truth or do you want something pleasant to happen to you?

Even to "see the truth" is getting something for yourself. "Enlightenment" is the falling away of the self.

That's a matter of terminology. You could say the 'self'' is the only thing that does not fall away. What falls away is the identification with name and form (namarupa) or more specifically the identification with the body.

I am saying that it is possible that you are seeing the above situation from a particular, non.optimal, point of view. Perhaps the interviewer, by choosing to do interviews of this nature, is making her way towards a clearer view of what enlightenment is and is not; and that this is the optimal way in her case.

I mean it is logical that you cant have your cake and eat it, cq wanting something to be the way you wish it to be is not the same mental attitude as simply opening yourself up to the truth of how things actually are. Btw, I was not picking on the interviewer, only picking her up on one point or phrase that she used. Is it "possible that I am seeing the above situation from a particular, non-optimal, point of view?" U betcha :)

@IpsaPaphum what do you mean see the truth? Everyone wants to be happy and have pleasant experiences. Even wanting to see the truth is because you want to satify yourself that"yes, I have seen the truth" and thus it is also pleasure-seeking. Seek good experiences myfriend. We all know both good and bad experiences are true, but I better be having a good time that satisfy my ego with a bad one.
