I had always considered "nerd" to be on the same page as geeky, nonathletic etc.( you know the cliches), thinking in a way that its just a minor problem that could cause or result in a lack of social skills. In regards to your comment below, the difference I see is the potential for harm between the two groups. The worst a nerd could be doing is hurting himself by having the persecution complex you tar them all with. The worst a pedophile could do is, well, molest a child.

This is a situation where I just think you should mind your own business. Loners and outcasts of all colors have a right to live peacefully without your unsolicited, hate-driven paternalism.

I'll just push this that little bit further by arguing that I think philosophies do matter; that I would rather live in, say, a compassionate world than one united under objectivist self-concern. I see the nerd philosophy as a troubling one; THAT's what drives my ire, not aesthetic hate. However I do appreciate your sentiment, don't get me wrong.

It's an interesting thought to ascribe Objectivism to a group which has a victim complex. I hate the creed too, but I always imagined my feelings came from personal weakness, since society seems to be heading in that direction anyway. The nerd philosophy I'm more familiar with is one dissatisfied with a perceived vanity and falseness in human relationships. Also facile, I suppose, but not always associated with the lack of conscience held by the chan users you may be obliquely referencing?

I believe however it has been described to me by a friend (For anyone used to jumping to false assumptions - He is not someone who comments on any YT videos). He described it as Joe pulling on tight pants & stating that he doesn't mind if people masturbate over him but not to tell him about it! If true, too me it points to Joe's general confusion.

He gets beat up so often, I decided to say something good about him once, that he was a "nice color".
