  • LOOK LIKE Thai dance

  • it´s beautifully amazing and so elegant, im proud to be indonesian though ;p

  • The TRUE history of South East Asia that is purposely forgotten in other South East Asian countries at least it still remains alive in Bali.

  • When I visited Bali ten years ago and was treated with its traditional dancing, my eyeballs almost bulged out from their sockets because of the mesmorizing beauty of the dancing, its music - and the dancers. Unfortunately, I didn't know its name and have so far searched for it in vain. "Tari Puspanjali" is the closest I can find and it is also very, very beautiful. I also recommend "Tari Gabor".

  • Soooo beautiful! I love it! thanks for posting. I watched this clip like a thousand times.

  • well, it is a little bit creepy, in a good way though.

    it somehow gives me goosebumps.

    the dancers are very good!

i mean, their expression, hand gestures, body postures,

    they are just flawless.

    I could really feel it.

  • @hizbellatrix

    I love this!!!

but when I was little, this scare the crap out of me :D

  • Indonesian culture is amazing .... I love Indonesia ....

I hope the people of Indonesia will be more love of their own culture ...

  • ndonesian culture is amazing .... I love Indonesia ....

I hope the people of Indonesia will be more love of their own culture ...

  • @prasetyoegi What if Bali wanted to become independant?

  • Love Indonesia and India... Rich Culture... More commonality... Hindu and Islam can live peacefully... Like Shahrukh Khan family...

  • not even beyonce can shake it like these girls.

  • I am from India, and I am SO JEALOUS, this is so beautiful. This culture needs to be preserved and observed and all indians should help. I hope your community isn’t under any threat

  • So amazing how beauty and form comes in such varied ways.

  • Bali is Hindu....Hinduism is rich and colourful and so is Bali, India and all the other parts where hindus live.....

  • @anu123km

Most hindu in my country are Muslim now, aha

But I still Love thiss :D

    Greeting from Vietnam

  • Love the elements of javanese dance here

  • @mrcaassy Javanese and Balinese dance is quite difference..and this is Balinese dance without any Javanese element...maybe you should come to Bali to see the real , Even we're from the same country but we have big difference about the cultural

  • The title is in sanskrit, the more old indo-european language...

More correctly, it is written "PUSHPANJALI",

that means "flower (pushpam) offering with unite hands (anjali)"...

In the BHARATHANATYAM, a wonderful indian dance, it is dancing to give the welcome...!

But Indians do not dance with Gamelan.. They haven't gamelan, that instead is tipical from Indonesia...

    ;-)

    Beautiful video! I love it!

  • What the hell is wronng with you people. Do you have an inferiority complex that you cant help see the obvious similarities between Hindu Balinese and south India? I know somthing of Bharatanatyam and there are simialr movements here, that does not mean they are the same, they evolve differently and Indian Hindu culture does not have Gamelan, so? but there are similarities and Indian dance is vast. Simialrity does not mean same, work it out and stop whining.

  • Relax Guys.. Just have fun.. No need to argue.. Have you guys Heard BreakPong?

a combination between Breakdance and Jaipong.. Please visit my channel..

  • he guys just enjoy, they are great. you know looong times ago human came from one place, for thousand of years they are pread out, develoved their own identities, remember that for peace!

  • wtf man it cam from indonesia. mother fuckers who sais its from india its from indonesia bali the clothes the gamblan everything

  • @ abottskatt: Bali is a hindhu island and there're some similarities in terms of deities balinese n indians worship. Same thing for names. A lot of balinese/ indonesian names are from sanscrete. Puspaanjali might be sanscrete but the similarities end at the name only. I have a loada indian friends n they said dat da name sounds indian but its totally different dance. My name is maharani bt I'm indonesian. We hv sanscrete vocab in bahasa. Its just a name. w/ all due respect,we dun copy da dance.

  • Yes, vast areas of Indonesia and Malaysia use Sanskrit in their language, it is obvious to see. But these are no different from latin root being found in many European languages. Bahasa itself is Sanskrit. When Hindusim and Buddhism came to what is no called Indonesia the dance forms were definately infuenced by Indian culture, but this was 2k years ago. The dances have since evolved thier own uniqueness but still one can see similarity with Indian forms aswell as differences.

  • @kumarsa108 i always said that some dances from South East Asia look very similar to those in India. i think was because as people migrated from India throughout other lands they carried their culture, and it evolved to be similar to the original. To me its like India has the "mother culture" for southeast Asia and the culture of the countries there is just a simpler version of that in India. I don't mean to offend anyone.

  • i danced this before ^_^

  • love it

  • oh well, i like to see this dance whenever it's from bali or from india, people should live in harmony with eachother. i have seen the pusHpanjali from india. it's not the same as from bali. but i prefere to watch the tari puspanjali of bali. cheers!!

  • yea.... we can do that. Copied from other country and claimed as ours.

Is that ok with u kewlkewl12?

Can you pls patent "burning other country's flag" as well?

    loser.....

  • indonesia hindo you guys say it is look indonesia hindo omg balinease hindo omg

  • Bali is Hindu my friend and may it stay that way.

  • I wish so, evem though I am not Hindu by religion, but culturally I am as much imbued by Hinduism.

  • See... copied from India...

  • The name may come from Sanskrit, but the dance was created by a renowned Balinese choreographer, Ni Luh Swasthi Bandem back in '89.

  • lol, another idiot fucking culture-less malay spouting idiocy. the gamelan is purely indonesian and there is nothing as refined as this within the whole repertoire of indian dances.

  • You are wrong..no Indians dance with Gamelan..Indians do not have gamelan. Indian women are wearing saris, no Balinese wear saris, they wear kain, kemben and selendang. The movement of dance are compeltely between the one done by Indians and Balinese.

  • Not all Indian women wear saris, they have many forms of dress including sarong like dress forms. Sari is also not a dance attire. The dance movements are different, but they also have similarities.

  • Of course, after all Indonesia including other South East Asian countries are part of Asia. You can even see similarities with classical Chinese , Japanese, Korean dances in the some of the movement.. Therefore it is absurd for anyone to say Balinese dances are stolen from India, It developed independently from Indian dances. It is different story if the Indonesians claim Chinese "barongsai" or "dragon dance" as their own, This is clearly stealing.

  • @abottskatt you do not even know history - before the conversion of Ashoka, he conquered, with great loss of life, the kingdom of Kalinga - that was roughly in 300 B.C. Kalinga had trade links (colonies?) in S. E. Asia right up to the Indonesian archipelago. That is why there are similarities - but as for the dance, the costume and gamelan, it is all locally developed. The scale of gamelan could (I repeat COULD) have been influenced by the 'mallari' which was played in temples in South India.

  • pushpanjali is a hindi word meaning an offering of flowers...in dance, it is an invocatory piece in a repetoire.

  • It is but I think it is als originally Sanskrit hence the Bali connection.

  • Yes, Puspanjali is Sanskrit woird. Even my sister has Sanskrit words in her name "Trimurti" and "Puja".

  • What does puspanjali mean?

  • indonesia goooooooooo

  • cool

  • That is wicked! I love their movement with their head and what nots. Wow.

  • yess wiccked..they are beautifull and great dancers

  • Sweet....All I need is Jon Keri

  • This is beautiful.

  • Awesome! Beautiful! Layaknya bidadari turun dari kahyangan.

  • wow...

    beautiful!

  • wow

    So different and beautiful.

  • Pembetulan *persamaan dari segi budaya is normal

Perbezaan dari segi budaya is normal.

  • What a stunning performance and usefull to see since us at Dartington Gamelan are learning Puspanjali.

  • Oh nice.. well if you like this then watch the trailer of a new doc called Bali Sacred and Secret - I believe there's a website with that name too :)

  • very beautiful and exotic. I miss those sajen fragrance too ;)

  • regenbogenlady ...please laaa. what wrong with u. armz betul ikhlas kata minat. u thinks yang bukan -bukan.

  • armz87, boleh saja suke akan tarian ini, tp jangan dijiplak, dicontek, apalagi nak mengakuinya pule jadi tarian asal malaysia ye...sekedar suka tak masalah lah...bile rase seronok betul atas ragam budaya baik tari maupun hal2 lain tentang Bali, come visit Bali sajelah! lebih puassss...

  • I live in san Francisco, where can I buy their costumes?

  • You're going to have to go to Bali for the costume. You're in the Bay Area - why don't you consider joining Gamelan Sekar Jaya (in Oakland) as a dancer, so you can experience learning this type of dance?

  • Dear Sikedek,

Oh come on bro, she doesn't have to go to Bali to get the costume :(. My teacher also design the costume... She's great ;)

  • Well, I guess... But it's difficult to find proper prada (goldleaf) here - so if maynila67 would be happy with regular gold paint, then that's one thing.

Also, where would you get the materials for the bunga mas?

  • For those things she has to order from Bali and "titip" to someone who is coming back from Bali. There is always a way... I got my new costume complete recently for the Indo day :). Are you from bay area? Indo day is on Saturday, will you come?

  • I wish I were - but I'm in San Diego now :P.

  • si kedek boleh kenalan gak??

  • O, jegegkone, sira niki? Ring dija mangkin - di LA napi San Francisco nika?

  • tiang bunga, ring SC mangkin

aduh sungguh luar biasa gaya mereka....

  • mesmerizing

  • vsddzfcg bbgrbccvbbdgc

  • Greetings.

Why is there always a big brouhaha whenever an Indian influence is suggested on the south-east asian cultures? They didn't build colonies there, they just brought their culture, religion, music & dance to these lands. The first kingship or dynasties in all these countries were founded by Hindu princes from especially, eastern & southern India perhaps farther back in antiquity than currently presumed. So, u see Ramayana having a big cultural influence, but not Mahabharata. Love & peace

  • this is the most beautiful puspanjali i ever seen. i wish someone could teach me this dance.

  • dreamingdragon77...

If I may know, where do you live?

There is a Balinese dance class at the Whisma Indonesia in San Francisco.

The teacher charge $15/hour for Indonesian.

  • i live in europe, but i will vissit bali this year, maybe i'll find some one ther who teaches t me this dance.

  • i sweqar as i read the comments on this page ppl on here kill me. either its some jerk saying retarded things about the dances or culture or someone who is way to zelous about what the person said. i'm not balinese or even from indonesia, but i do know on thing i love to watch these dances which are so beautiful to me. and to the ppl who don't like it,stop watching and look at something eles. and the ppl wh love/like don't take what the jerk ppl say to heart. learn to ignore ppl.

  • oops typo

    i *swear

  • The Balinese dance is quite different from any other culture's dance I've seen, but I love it. When they shift places it seems as if they aren't really moving. It seems as though they're being pulled by an imaginary force, and their expressions! The eye and body movements; mesmeric.

  • I recently visited Bali and my goodness, it is really heaven on earth. Their culture is so rich. I enjoyed their Kecak dance, but did not get a chance to see the Tari Puspanjali. I definately have a lot to see in Bali. Beautiful place....

  • tell me about it

    im half balienese .

my mum is australian and we live in melbournee ,

and everytime i go see family and stuff i neer wanna go bak !

australia is sooo dull compared to bali !

  • The rich luxurious Indonesian history and culture makes me proud to be part Indonesian Balinese. And the animosity and ignorance that "tennyphnom" has expressed is downright sad. Bless your heart Child. The gamelan music and the legong choreography was immaculate, haunting and hypnotizing. The execution and perfect and beautiful. xx

    -Gusti Putra Indya Alexander Chandrawinate-Angelucci

  • Gorgeous, scintillating, mersmerizing and ... really beautiful. I love the gammelan music too

  • Its so HYPNOTIC ; im jst like hypnotised wth it =]

    LOVE IT

    wanna learn it =]

    myspace com/zoee_xx

  • How beautiful the are! love the costum!

  • aku seneng

  • oo ok

  • It's really sad to hear someone referring to another culture's art as "creepy" or "crappy" (I don't know what you're trying to say here). Have a more open mind and be less ignorant of the world around you. The world would be a much better place :).

  • @elibris I think there is a high chance that he is meaning it as a compliment. The gamelan music and dance both have incredibly mysterious qualities. I would consider referring to it as creepy, but in the best sense of the word. I think this artform is total magic. Maybe the word creepy itself has negative connotations. But not for me. Thanks for posting all these dances by the way :)

  • EXCUSE ME ?!

how DARE u say that this is creppy ?!

im guessing you meant creepy ; well learn where the buttons are on ur keyboard mate ?!

this is a fine example of the indonesian culture being half balinese i am EXTREMELY pissed about this comment.if i EVER hear a comment like this again . i will PERSONALLY kick the shit out of you.fkn "crep"

watever man u might think this IS "creppy" but keep ur comments which offend ppl off a utube video where da whole fkn WORLD can see it

    LOSER !

  • Actually I think the music of Bali is hauntingly beautiful. Creepy is a word used by uncouth idiots. There is little on this earth as beautiful as the harmonious culture of Bali.

  • Exotically exciting, very well danced, and I loved it!

  • im sure u'll do great ^_^ beautiful dance and amazing music!!

  • Wow! I'm going to have to perform this dance for an ethnic festival, but I'll never be this good!

  • Very graceful and charming

  • woaaaaaah !!!! so cool !!!!
