I also used to listen to this song on radio when I was a child many years ago. This is my 1st time hearing it as an adult, but it's funny, I still remembered most of the words and was ready to sing along as it ended "I'll never let my short, fat Fanny go---TOOOM!" I sang it that way as a kid, haha.
I thought this was going to be a spoof of Long Tall Sally. I saw The Beatles covered it in the Get Back sessions, so I thought it was just another one of those things where John screws around with the lyrics.
Why is this guy not famous as Little Richard, Elvis, Bill Halley or Chuck Berry? He´s got more great Rock N Roll songs than all of them! I had only red his name on the composer´s credits in the Beatles covers. He was really talented!
I lived in Atlanta from 56 to 60 . Nancy Danforth , my 16 year old neighbor gave me a bunch of 45s - this was one of em . I was about 4 or 5 . I took it to Joanie Lacefields house and we played it . Her mother came in and broke the record cuz it said a cus word . Yes friends Fanny was a cus word . When the mom walked out of the room I told Joanie -it's ok I have another copy of that one . LOL
Little Richard knew Larry Williams drugs and rock n roll was their mix in those days
don't keep getting credit from your drug dealer knowing you have to pay that's just how that game was back then and they both suffered cosequeces of their decision like we all do. LW
According to myth this was written for a fat f*ck who used to hang around & harass djs at the time. Her name was Jennifer West, she went on to become a transvestite and cabaret dancer, pretty crazy story!!!
jeez wise woman, guess i was round bout 2nd grade when i heard this, started lookin for short fat fannies right bout there, then bony moronie put me to the wall. duhh troutvt
I love this record! Its a great tribute to all those songs, and it's just plain funny! I have it on a 45RMP re-issue...I never knew about all the drama behind the scenes. What a shame! Sounds like the original "ganstas" and all of that. Thanks for posting.
I was a kid when this was a hit. iremember riding in the car with my parents and this one was on ,Back in the days of Little Richard .I dug the Rand B of the time STILL DO !!ITS TIMELESS
I found a huge stack of my grandpa's old 45 records the other night and this was in there, i thought it was fuckin great.
