A lot of people that I know didn't get this movie. I thought it was a masterpiece. There is one scene in particular that stands out. Speaking from a man's point of view, there is a scene where John is walking along the edge of the woods. It's beautiful. Then Pocahontas steps out and all the beauty of the shot leaves the forest and focuses on her, from his point of view. I think any man that has truly been in love has experienced that exact moment. No other movie has shown that!

It's very hard to believe she was fourteen when they filmed this movie. She doesn't look it at all; I would've said she was seventeen or eighteen.

I still think the stuio should've let Terrance Malick release his longer version, but at least the extended cut has a DVD so that works. I think the film is much better with these scenes. They're intimate and lovely.

And I do agree with pretty much everyone on here: Colin looked amazing in this film. Plus, he was such a good actor here.

Yea, but doesn't a part in one of the last scenes here makes one thing that something went on with those two? If you get what I'm saying. Anyhow the movie was better off without the scene, although I likehow the emotion portrayed on part of John having to leave her. And I agree she is very beautiful and talented I think also. Terrence Malik did his American viewers/fans wrong by not releasing this version stateside! This was a very beautiful movie and those deleted scenes would've made it all the more interesting. The chemistry between Kilcher and Farrell is wonderful! I hope to see Q'Orianka in more films...she has much promise as an actress. : )

They will not release some of the scenes because Q'Orianka Kilcher was only 14 when they made this movie. That is pretty sick when you think about Collin making out with a 14 year old. I think it was in poor form to cast a little girl in a sexual role like that. She played a wonderful part. I would have thought her to be 20+, but unfortunately that is not the case.

I heard that Collin was concerned about coming across as a pedo, so some of the more intimate scenes between the 2 were deleted.

I did'nt think it was all that racy.I know she was 14,but there was no open mouth kissing,and I think the Director was very careful how he filmed those intimate scenes.They were really tasteful compared to what Brooke Shields did in "Pretty Baby".If you ever saw that movie,you would be shocked at what she was subjected to,and she was only 12!!!The movie was very controversial at the time,and everyone was taling about it.Check it out if you can,it's pretty racy.This was a lot more tame,I think.

I think the reason these scenes were deleted was because of the age difference. Q'orianka was only 14, making Colin twice her age at the time.

Just go to [dvd dot it] an online store based in Italy. Italy released two seperate DVDs of the movie. One is just the short version and the other includes both the long and short versions. Make sure to look for the two disc set which includes both the short 135min and long 150min versions.
