  • This is absolutely wonderful! Another great baroque composer!, I taste a bit of Purcell-Lully in the musical style, but it might be due to the fact that the kings consort does alot of Purcell and thats their style, but it proves how the different composers works did get around. Kuhnau is added to my list of great Baroque composers!

  • This cantata is for The Ascension and we are able to find a beautiful piece of baroque art. Thank you.

  • This is the only convincing precursor to JS Bach's Leipzig cantatas that I have encountered. Kuhnau wrote it in 1717, when Bach (32) was, I believe, recently arrived in Kothen. This cantata combines 17th and 18th century characteristics. More than anything, it proves that J. Kuhnau, ailing though he was for years, kept abreast of all the modern developments in sacred music.
