  • Hey ! I really wish to submit a minor project on this feature of VOLVO for the fulfillment of my B.E degree. Please send me some valuable: logical and technical suggestions. Thanks all !

    my id is: er.gauravgoswami@gmail.com

  • wat if you are dodgeing pot holes

  • Volvo is just a synonym for 'hey, this is a realy safe car!'

  • this so cool volvo u rule have u ever seen volvo 2020

  • another epic movie : eni gabriel volvo

  • @XBTechno & VolvoXC60 - I have an idea for the 2011 which I think you'll like. Why not combine "Driver Alert" with "City Safety"? Esentially, since the vehicle's already monitoring unprojected lane changes, why not utilize the power steering to 'slightly' correct itself, & maintain in ONE lane? Basically, you've taken being "broad-sided" completely out of the picture. Naturally of course, the system would have to monitor & react differently in icy conditions.

  • Hello do you know if the system shold only work in well marked and signalized roads or like here in mexico that usually are without lanes marked?

  • so, can I sleep now??wake me up if i go out of lane..

  • I think it would get quite annoying if you`re driving on a country-road and the wind picks up and is blowing you side to side.

  • Allthough, staying at a highway motel is probably more scary than having a crash in your new car. I dont think the swedes realise that Motels in the US are basically for drug deals and prostitutes nowadays. Im sure in Sweden they are lovely and comforing.

  • i bet that noise wouldn't even effect me anyway

  • Also i want to know why this dumb ass is driving around at 3500 rpm ? lol

  • What is wrong with 3500 rpm? Its the best rpm for lots of cars.

  • @oggymarik Perhaps for a car with a small engine, that said also in the city expecting to use alot of gas.

  • I once drove for 22 hrs straight, eff that noise! all you need to do is stop at every other Tim hortons lol

  • How about a sensor that detects democrats?

It could eject them from the car so they could hitch a ride in a Prius.

  • lmao.

  • hahaha

  • @chokeonsomestuff Comments like that are really unnecessary. Besides, I'm pretty sure that Volvo appeals more to Democrats than Republicans.

  • usless crap if u dont know when ur tired u dont need to be in a car.

  • Why hasent volvo made a 4 point seat belt like in the SCC?

  • Soon they will...

  • I would like to see a car sensor that detects driving under the influence.

  • Although my idea is called the. "Bumper Sensor" that will also prevent devistating accidents but like i said the technology is well advanced..Lets see what happens.Good Luck..Peace!

  • I have great ideas to invent high technology in cars but my ideas are way ahead of your time..This video idea is a start..Peace!!

  • naah Kowalski from original vanishing point would take some crack or speed and drive all night long ;] this volvo option is for pussies.

  • Only in America, sad!

  • I hope this feature will be added to commercial trucks too :-)

  • yeah they need it the most

  • I can see this thing annoying a lot of people. Naturally you weave to some degree taking bends in the road and such, so if this thing is constantly beeping at you, it's going ot piss a lot of people off. Also, what about people who don't signal when they change lanes? Will this beep at them everytime they change lanes without signalling. I hope so because that ticks me off, lol.

  • The system steps in at 65 km/h and stays active as long as the speed exceeds 60 km/h and is activated via a button on the center stack, so YES, u can turn it OFF! If you don't like to make a signal when u change lines that's to bad for u and other, but its your call. One accident in a lifetime because of not making a signal might be fatal. Be safe!

  • Yes, that would probably save more lives than alerting tired people. Add a dumb-ass light to the dash? Maybe on the back bumper too!

  • trust me if i had the money id get this car for that feature cause i drive a 500 miles road trip every 2 months and have actually almost fell asleep not knowing i was getting tired i always thought volvo was just crappy station wagons lol but i didnt think you guys would put something out that is far better than what anyone has and its stylish guess thats what i get for judging a book by its cover way to go

  • bad ass acting...bravo

  • I'm sure that the new mercedes e class will have a similar system.

  • yeah it does lol

  • its better than other systems out there.

  • what if i was just drifting off in 1 direction, in a constant motion?

  • There's a lot of "what ifs" out there, and so that why these safety features are meant to supplement and aid a driver, but never replace the ultimate responsibility of the driver.

  • good one;)

  • nice. that made him shut up. HEHE. Volvo For Life.

  • Good idea, but sometimes when you are alerted you can swerve. Perhaps a more subtle approach to alerting the driver could be more effective. We need a campaign to not only not Drink and Drive but Don't Sleep and Drive. Everybodies so stressed out we are exhausted by the end of the day.

  • I'm not quite sold on this system yet, could it be shut off at the drivers disgression? How will it read if its on a road with no lines or a road with irregular intervals? If it could be turned off then I feel it could me more practical, but I have yet to drive one and don't know how well it works.

  • At first I wasn't so sure, but then I realized that the voice-over guy DID actually have a British accent, and I was sold on the system.

So all you advertisers out there: always use a voice-over w/ a British accent. It'll sell more 'cause they sound really smart, sophisticated, and stuff.

  • ha. or rather more importantly, use not an ever-shallow sounding american woman.

  • that will prevent some DUI arrests

  • also aybee....lexus's system is a lot better. the lexus will alert you AND APPLY THE BRAKE. it was first introduced '05 i think.

  • I don't know how far the "applying the brakes" helps unless you're about to hit something ahead of you. Actually I think it can be quite dangerous if the system applies the brakes (for no good reason) while you're on the highway - it could be contra productive under certain circumstances.

  • ok william is a complete dumbass. looking at coffee mug display on your dashboard doesnt quite qualify as a road distraction, either way you take your eyes off the road when you look at your speed, your fuel gauge, change a radio station, or even make eye contact with your girl. if you crash because you took half a second off the road....you shouldnt be driving at all. if you ask me a real driver knows his surroundings he should. if you ask me i think thats how they do it in nascar.

  • didn't Lexus first introduce this with there LS460?

  • very state of the art, but isn't this just another in car distraction? if you're already sleepy and having trouble focusing, then you have to look for some bleeping coffee mug on your instrument panel, isn't that just another thing to take your eyes off the road? Maybe it would be better to have a little spicket to shoot a burst of air in your face, or cold water! (jokes) :P

  • :-)

  • While we welcome all comments, we will remove comments with foul language. Thank you for keeping your comments clean!

  • lmao.. a coffee break
