Not a fan of the newer stuff, not that they aren't all great musicians in their own right, but it's just not "Journey". Which ironic, because they are still on that voyage, in a modern inception. Tickets to a concert back then were also about $10.00.
I've listened to what is now called Journey. Dean Castronovo is an absolute percussive monster, and Arnel Pineda is a decent stand in on the vocal end. As good as it all sounds though, without Steve Perry and Steve Smith, the music lacks a certain sound that was Journey's signature.
Steve Smith, def a solid drummer! He used to write an article in Modern Drummer, not sure if he still does, I haven't bought it in a few years. He is the man for this band...

What do you have against Arnel? We all know as much as he and the band that Steve is er-replaceable, but Steve doesn't want to do anything anymore with Journey, Neil tried to go through legal means and try to talk with Steve, but he stood his ground. Neil and the band believe they have alot of life left in Journey and wanted to tour everywhere while they still are able too. So instead of rolling over and die because Steve isn't coming back ,Neil made a discovery and it worked, Arnel.
I admit that there are some songs that Arnel cant pull off like Steve can and yes he's a good Kariok'e (sp?) singer. But we all sang our favorite songs from bands, trying to mimic their voices as close as possible somewhere in the comforts of own homes. Arnel did it on stage and was posted on you-tube and got his lucky break. If you still believe no-one can be the lead singer of journey but Steve then atleast you have your cd's to enjoy, just give Arnel a break.

Neal did an interview at the NAMM convention couple weeks ago & he said in a couple months , him & JC will be headed to the studio to write some new songs for their new album. I guess according to neal .. arnie is not writing on this album.. Wonder why? Arnie dont have the talent?

Perry is way better than Arnel... but Arnel isn't bad himself. Perry has a way better vocal range than Arnel will ever have. That's why Arnel needs Dean to sing the higher pitched songs. And Steve's stage presence can't be matched. No one can beat the original, but Arnel is a distant second.

..?? HATE??..kinda a strong word. Met the man at a meet n greet very nice, humble & and just in awe of the ride he's on..Sure Steve is 1 of the greatest vocalists ever,..but c'mon he basically pissed away his career & Journey ...Arnel's an unbelievable vocalist..have you really given him a fair shot...check out their new dvd.

What do you have against Arnel? We all know as much as he and the band that Steve is er-replaceable, but Steve doesn't want to do anything anymore with Journey, Neil tried to go through legal means and try to talk with Steve, but he stood his ground. Neil and the band believe they have alot of life left in Journey and wanted to tour everywhere while they still are able too. So instead of rolling over and die because Steve isn't coming back ,Neil made a discovery and it worked, Arnel.

I admit that there are some songs that Arnel cant pull off like Steve can and yes he's a good Kariok'e (sp?) singer. But we all sang our favorite songs from bands, trying to mimic their voices as close as possible somewhere in the comforts of own homes. Arnel did it on stage and was posted on you-tube and got his lucky break. If you still believe no-one can be the lead singer of journey but Steve then atleast you have your cd's to enjoy, just give Arnel a break.
