To everybody that remembers... we were truly blessed to come home from school or whatever and have Video LP, Video Vibrations, Rap City, Yo MTV Raps, and Video Soul back to back to back to back to back. Monday Through Friday!!!! Unreal lineup with hindsight being 20/20 and all.
Angie Stone is amazing and strong. She was in the group "The Sequence" and the "Vertical Hold" and now a successful Solo artist! Do you people realize she was out as early as 1979!!!! "Funk You Up" was a successful rap song back then and she still is going strong. Unvalued artist and Agie is a Legend in my book. 30 years of making music!!! WOW!!! Your special Angie I know you are if they wont give you the props. "Vertical Hold" was a dope group, loved them!!! L.G.N.M
Wow, yall took me back to elementary school w/ this one. Use to be the jam! Miss Angie Stone been beasting out in the business for a good minute. True artist!
I was reading about D'Angelo (one of those archival books) and it mentioned how in the beginning of his career he wrote for various artists and Vertical Hold was mentioned. Then that hot joint of theirs "Seems You're...." popped in my head and I had to run to YouTube to hear it again!!!! I also thought that ok, that's how D and Angie met...Iol. I wuz like ohhhh!
I've been looking for this song & this group for years. I only saw the video once. I loved it then it disappeared & the group just faded. I'm ashamed to say I thought the lead singer was Maysa ( Leak ). Angie's been doing it for a long time. Thanks for the post. Check out Maysa solo & with Incognito. Also Joyce Kennedy with Mother's Finest.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDNNNNNNNESSSSSS!!!!!!!!! I recorded this on my lavendar girlie boombox back in the day!!! Angie Stone has got staying power...
junior high, in the back of the classrm cracking on every body. me and my friends use 2 always interrupt the class and get detention. i still don't know how i made it to college
This song is incredible, i remember when i was in elementary school and it used to come on the radio back in the day. I am 24 years old now and the chorus just popped up in my head while i was at work twice lol. I didnt even know that Angie Stone was the singer! The lyrics and the beat are beautiful. My father listened to all of the oldies so i cant help it. I appreciate the older music more now though, it was more meaning back then. We need more of that nowadays.
Wow. It's such an honor to know that people still like this joint. That's Angie, my man Bruno and myself. I'm da bruva wit da high top fade LOL. Wow its been a while yo. Thanks so much for da love.
i have this cassette single to "seems your much too busy"....but i cant find the second cd. Could you post a copy of the song "Love today" from that album, head over heels?
I remember my Best Friend was arguing with his Girl and during the HEATED discussion, this song came on over the radio. She said, "Even the Radio Station know you doing me Wrong" ....... I almost pee'ed in my pants laughing.....
If you guys like Vertical Hold then you may like the video I just put up with a song from there first album. Check it out. And there will be more just keep checking my channel. David thanks everyone for all the love Stay Blessed
It's funny when you hear a song for the first time in years, and you forgot how much you liked it. I heard "Don't be a fool" by Loose Ends yesterday for the first time in like 10 years, and had to download it immediately. Nice cut here!
SIMBATHEKAT... oh man, "Don't Be a Fool!" I just dug that 12" single out and listened to it last weekend, ALSO after about 10 years! Man... good stuff, huh? I need to do a Loose Ends CD from all my 12" singles. I have almost all that were released from "The Real Chuckeeboo" all the way through "Look How Long." My Sunday afternoon is officially booked! :-) ..."Everybody get RIGHTEOUSSS!!!"
Oh man! oh man!! This is another long lost jam from my past. I wonder if anyone remembers a jam by midnight star called "dont think about it: stop bring up the past." That may not be the title but those are part of the lyrics.
Anybody remember the group: Sequence? It was a girl rap group. They did the rap, "Funk You Right on Up." Angie Stone was Angie B. Please post it if possible.
