How to get a Transparent Background using GIMP?? (IMVU)

@saddiecalico just follow those steps in the video for both pix and save them as .PNG and then just open a NEW pix or window in GIMP and merge them 2gether. If you need a video just let me know and I can try n help ya out!! :D Thanks for the question!

@Andrew4World Its prob cause you didn't add an alpha channel to your pix. Go to Layer--Transparency--add alpha channel and it should work..

Insert the steps you suggest to KingBarve into your video.

Right around step 3, just after you open the image file, would be a good spot.

It is a very important step which has not been included in your video,

and it needs to be done.

@KingBarve Its most likely b/c you didn't set an alpha channel to the image. GO to LAYER>> Transparency>> and ADD Alpha channel. and then delete the background. c}: HOPE that helps!!

@yoadam888 To view your layers you just OPEN your GIMP. Go to WINDOWS>> Dockable Dialogs>> and Then click on LAYERS.

OR you can just take the short cut and press Ctrl+L. Hope that helped you out!! C:

What if u use a green backround and when u press delete theres still a thin layer or green around ur avi?

@lilrobbygottaJ well see thts why i try to make the background color a color thts not gonna touch the same color in like ur hair or clothes...BUT IF u run into this problem lets say some of ur pants are the same color so b4 u go and remove the BG i would go in and get the ERASER TOOL in the TOOL BOX and erase around the parts tht are the same color. its annoying when the BG is like tht i hate it D:

Ok for some reason i tried doing the delte on the keyboard and it didnt work.

@susysusyluv hmm..was part of ur pix selected? did it have tht dotted dancing line going around it and u have to make sure to apply the alpha channel or else it will just be a white BG instead of transparent.

You can also try right clicking the selection and go to EDIT and then press CUT.

if the BG is white u needa put an alpha channel on it hehe i hope tht helped let me knw if it didn't.
