Here's the latest thing with FB--your account can be disabled (temporarily locked in my case because everytime I tried to type in my password it got rejected and I had to keep changing the password). In any event, in order to gain access again they sent an email asking me to verify my identity by scanning a government issued color photo ID. I didn't.

If you send them ID in any form you're nuts.

Deleting your account now only releases all your information to them. Your identity becomes their property based on the user agreement. DON'T DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT. Just remove the personal info about yourself on their and stop logging on.
