My best guess: 1. A swarm was passing through and decided to consolidate on the camera. 2. One or two of the bees en route to the camera landed on the ref's head. 3. The ref roughly ran his hands over his head, which hit the bee(s). The bee(s) got mad and stung him. 4. The stinging bees released an alarm pheromone that attracted other bees. 5. The player in blue started swatting at the bees with his little plastic flag, which made them really angry. 6. The bees started stinging people.
