i'm from abitibi canyon originally and spent much of my childhood in smooth rock playing sports with friends. the sale of the lumber rights was the government and companies first step. the closing of the plants to get the amounts of profit required for their shareholders was just the next step. the newfound land government had the right response by aquiring the mills and lumber rights if they closed a profitable mill.
