  • Muito bom! Já tinha assistido, mas adorei rever. Thank you

  • I don't see how this movie was so terrible. Sure, its NOTHING like the book, but still IMO an excellent movie. One of my faves! Poor Mituba though! Poor girl... :(

  • wow this movie is NOTHING like the book. Good movie but even saying "based on the book" is insulting to the book. lol

  • Nevermind, this is not the true ending... sobs T_T

  • Is this ending the true ending cause if it's not I would like cry and not read the book....

  • so beautiful! i cried ,. uhh !! movies like this dont exist anywhere anymoree

  • haha gotta love the end.. INDIANS TO THE RESCUE!! thanks so much for sharing this movie.. i love love love Gary Oldman!!

  • 5:28 keep your eyes on the road

  • That was portly the facets blood coming out of someone's neck it was like a rive spewing from a damn

  • You changed the end. How dare you. You realize books have symbolic reasons for their endings right?

  • una superpelicula felicidades DEMI MOORE eres grande

  • whats the world coming to when you can't watch the movie instead of read the book to get the facts..........

  • @theshingles100 to a Literature teacher it is awesome because then the teacher can have the class watch the movie after reading the book and write a paper on what is different about the 2. It also makes it so the student HAS to read to pass the test :) It is sad to know not many people read these day, they'd rather watch tv. I would rather read (unless it is a book that puts me to sleep or doesn't make sense to me).

  • This was a good movie in itself.

However, it was nothing like the book..

Movies are suppose to bring life to the books they are based on but this movie twisted the entire tale. It would have been nice to see the characters and events of the book rightly portrayed so IMO this was nothing like The Scarlet Letter but it was still a good movie. There was a lot of passion between Dimmesdale and Hester.

  • This is a good movie and book. But it sucks to have to read it for class.

  • Someone must have transformed "The Scarlet Letter" into a post-modern political drama....the ending shows the need for marriage equality and egalitarianism in today's society. I am glad the director changed the ending, since the book shows eternal misery between Hester Prynne and Arthur Dimmesdale at the end. This ending shows how Hester and Arthur have asserted their rights to establish a family, with their daughter Pearl, on their own terms, not by the church or the state.

  • i wish the book really ended like this! :/

  • @ItsMask1 I agree with you.

  • Thanks for posting. I'm glad I watched. Nice film.

  • Ok so I soo did not enjoy this movie it wasn't bad but compared to the book this really sucks.although I do like the ending of the movie though

  • espetacular

  • The fact that the ending of this is nothing like the end of the of the book makes it the much more EPIC imo!!

Atypical hollywood fashion, let's replace an admission of guilt with........an Indian massacre!!!

    Whoa!

  • strange. i missed this whole big indian deathmatch in the novel..

  • omg if he died i would cry. great ending.

    thanks for the upload:)

  • I had to watch this movie and write a paper on adultery for my marriage and family counseling class... Thank you so much for this! It really helped me!

  • This was so good by itself, but awwwfulll in the eyes of the book. xDDD

Nathaniel Hawthorne is currently rolling over in his grave...

  • @smileyface185 How did it differentiate from the book?

  • Oh, those crazy Puritans . . . Thank you so much for the upload! I think that this film was insanely underrated. It was waaaaay better than the book (with a much nicer ending), and for once used creative license in a positive way :)

  • MOVIES ARE NEVER BETTER THEN THE BOOK ..... everyone should know this. YOu can't put every damn thing that happens in the book into a couple of hours of film. So just ef'n relax and enjoy the movie or don't watch it. FFS

  • e um dos melhores filmes que ja vi, com certeza, li o livro pq amei o filme. Nao encontrava em lugar algum, obrigada por ter postado para que eu visse novamente!

  • the book sucked anyway,at least the movie is ok...

  • Thanks so much for posting all of these - i really enjoyed them!

  • I bet you can't kiss like that while driving a car ;]

  • @fayfiboo LOL... I actually rewinded the clip just to see them kiss again because of your post! LOL

  • Ok kids so the moral of this story is you should be proud to ne a whore -_- and god is to say is to say what a sin is idiot and doin it with a guy who isnt your husband is a huge sin one to be whipped till death i thank the dear lord for my religion man but thnx for uploading though...

  • Demi moor has a very big face, the biggest face of any woman i have ever seen.

  • servs them right

  • Of course I would love this ending better than that of the book lol.

  • Talk about a town completely out of control.....

  • Hell, I don't care if the movie and the book are completely different and with completely different endings...

Anytime I get to be with Gary Oldman, I can't fucking complain. XD

  • beautiful movie !

  • While this movie had a very compelling story, it did not do the novel justice. Too many motives were changed, the end was not true to the original, and they tried to combine The Crucible into this story. The acting, of course, was good, and Hollywood did their best to make some money, but when all is said and done, this is not a reliable account to the author or his purpose.

  • this film was ridiculous and was nothing like the book!!!! i prefer the book way more than the film!!!!! D:<

  • loveee thiss movie:)

  • nothing like the book... :(

  • @phaserbeamoflight how does the movie end ? does one of them die?

  • LOVE,LOVE,LOVE,LOVE this movie!! Gary and Demi are wonderful together. We would all love to have a love like that...thank you SOOO much for posting!!

  • the film is a bit different about the book...

  • good movie. very far from the book, but still a good movie.

  • sobbing my eyes out !! amazing :)

  • I Want A Love Like This :']

  • It is a nice history about life. Nobody is perfect you are not too good or pure to make a mistake...

  • beautiful movie thank u for posting it :')

  • loved it <3 thanks for posting :)

  • I love that last line

  • the came to build a new world, but instead they built their old one even uglier. Even now in America (and ofc. other places too) there are witch-hunts but in different shape.

  • Thanks very much for posting up this film...very touching...enjoyed it very much.

  • So although this movie dose not match the book at all I have seen both movies and read the book several times, and although I love the book and like the other movie I much prefer the way that this movie ended and loved that the way that it was adapted. This movie is most definatly not one you would use to write an essay on the novel for,but it shows so much more of the love that Arthur and Hester shared. I can say for certin that I do wish the book had ended like this movie.

  • i love this movie ........<3

  • luved it

  • One of the best movies - thanks for this 0)

  • @horseridingdoglover - Thank you for comment. Respects from Brazil South America.

  • @horseridingdoglover to bad it is nothing like the book...

  • Well I got to say it was a better ending then thw book. I like happy endings so I like this one the best!

  • ok sooo # one I didn't even read the book and I know that is was way pff from the novel

#2 baby pearl and older pearl are so cute because they are demi moore's actual daughters and we all know shes geneticaly gifted

  • this was a realy good movie. thanks for the upload.

  • @2000joec - Thank you very much.

  • this movie is sooo beautiful,, i teared up like a punk lol,, i gotta go buy it now

  • I usually don't like movies that so drastically change an ending *coughMySister'sKeepercough* ... but The S.L. infuriated me in university - so I'll take this happy, albeit cheesy, ending ... X))

  • Pearl was so cute.

  • I AM WITH NO RELIGION BUT FAITH.

  • They took artistic license and ran with it. LOL This is a good movie, but read the book! :D

  • even if they had been in love in that time - that public kiss would not have been allowed

  • so now everybody try to get A for exam??? moral of the story better get B ....

  • i cried at the end and im proud to admit im a guy

  • @uMadProductions32 why would you be proud to admit you're a guy? that should be a given, not something to be ashamed of. Guys cry all the time even if they try to hide it. its a natural thing so theres no reason for pride in admitting you are a teary man.

  • @thevoiceofreason94 looooooooool.

  • This is a very touching one...a love like no other!!!

  • I would like to thank you with all of my heart for having this movie...I have only seen it once and have been looking for it ever since.

I will cheerish this gift forever...Thank You...

    - Little Owl Princess -

  • Sadly pumpkinpie1998 it did. The puritans were a very judgmental and cruel group, they did not live by gods word.. And nathmottram06 If you really want to refer to them as something, refer to them as indians. What they are, NOT SAVAGES! We as a PEOPLE need to not discriminate and love one another as human beings. the puritans raided the indian villages and killed indians as well, just because it wasnt in this movie does not mean it didnt happen. Look up the facts before you open your mouth.

  • I hope this never happened in history, this is just too sad yet violent.

  • oh my god! when them to little blonde girls are lieing on the floor with there brains everywere so sad its disgusting what those savages did.

  • @nathanmottram06 I hope this is irony...Those so-called savages had a more complex situation than what you might have learned at school or seen in John Wayne movies...There are plenty of good books that might give you a more careful judgment. The fact is : the majority of eastern tribes were eradicated and only a few "Europeans" actually payed the Indians for their land...

  • @Pharnabaze why should we have payed for the land why would they have needed so much land

  • @nathanmottram06 why would they have needed not to have been killed why are you asking something like this why isn't anyone breaking into your house because in his eyes you don't need it

  • THAT'S BETTER THAN THE BOOK I CAN'T EVEN UNDERSTAND IT, THIS GIVE A VIEWPOINT TO THE STORY.

  • Thanks for posting!

  • Great movie! I have the book but it's huge D: I think ima start reading it ! x)

  • So happy it ends well. :)

  • wow..love it

  • HOLY CRAP! THE BOOK AND THE MOVIE HAVE 2 DIFFERENT ENDINGS1 THATS BULL SHIT

  • Realmente, quem pode dizer o que é pecado diante dos olhos de Deus?

  • Like this ending more than the book. Not a fan of unhappy endings.

  • @MyPaperBleedsInk

That's a shame. A story with a darker ending is just as worth telling (if not more) as a story with a sunshine-happy Disney ending.

  • @NotJusCoffee

Deadbeat dad? No indians in the book? Are you an imbecile? Did you even READ the book? Did you understand the book?

    Apparently not.

  • @MyPaperBleedsInk

I think the fact that he never admitted to being Pearl's father, would never publicly acknowledge her or Hester, and blamed Hester for everything makes him a pretty good definition of a deadbeat dad. He wouldn't admit to anything that he did for fear of ruining his own precious good name. And there may have been indians in the book, but there was never anything even close to some kind of battle/massacre thing going on, ever. Apparently YOU never read or understood the book.

  • @amandalanae88

I read the book, I own the book, took a classic literature class where we read and analyzed the book... so don't make stupid assumptions.

In Chapter 10 he discusses how he wants to confess, but can't because if he did he could no longer do good for God. Plus Hester took full blame because she didn't want the townspeople to look down upon him or lose their faith in him or god either. Not to mention he would've been killed if he confessed.

Where did I say there was a battle?

  • WOW, the people back were dumb as HELL! Seriously wanting to stamp the 'A' on her forehead and make her wear the letter 'A' . What about them? Wearing the letter 'J' for judgmental? Thats Gods job, not theirs, and Author is GREAT guy, he is the only one that knows what sinning is, those people are fucking ass holes, wanting to hang them then watch it and cheering it on???

  • WTF!!! in the book he Dies!!!!

  • wooow good movie ah?

  • lol much better ending than in the book in my opinion ;)

  • im sorry but people were dumb back then

  • Lord Jesus is good and merciful. He saved the adulteress. He said "go and sin no more". I am Christian and I have no stone to throw. Lord Jesus said "Pass no judgement and you won't be judged". God bless!

  • "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves."

    -- 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

  • @aalexmary Indeed. One needn't read the Old Testament to know that this is true.

  • @CassieAnnaCary You mean the New Testament. But I advise you to read it. It worth it

  • @aalexmary no, I don't think so. I dont believe Jesus was the Son of God. He was a man and a prophet. I am Agnostic. Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene.

  • @CassieAnnaCary May the Lord forgive you for what you say. You are the "No comment" type of person.

  • @aalexmary I am certain God knows how I feel & he's ok with it.

  • @CassieAnnaCary Be careful: arrogance is a great sin. You are illiterate form theological point of view. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 is a chapter from the New Testament and you appreciate the words of one of the greatest Christian: Saint Paul, transformed by Christ, the Almighty God from a persecutor of Christians in the Apostle of nations. Christ's divinity is difficult to understand so I don'' blame you for having this problem. It requires some brain and soul. Sayonara

  • @aalexmary my mum read that at my sisters wedding :)

  • @Mscookiegirl1x1 Very nice. God bless!

  • @aalexmary love is a sexy act between a priest and a married woman whose husband does not show up all that often

  • Great movie

  • Awesome movie...its a great story of two people in undeniable love for each other. <3

  • Thanks for the upload. For the most part I really enjoyed this movie. However, I kind of hope that the book and this move was parallel to each other.

    Thanks again.
