Yea I'm starting to notice that myself after playing for the last few days, the tracks are very similar not much change, I'd pass on this game for Crash Bandicoot, I found that game to be the most enjoyable of the 3 racers I've played, (cro-mag rally, crash, gts)

I read that most of the track look VERY similar. Is this true? If so, I'm not so sure I'm going to buy it. If they mixed up the environment a bit, that would be cool.

I haven't really had much time with the game yet, so it's hard to say. The only other racing games on the iPhone currently are Cro-Mag Rally and Crash Bandicoot, both games are very similar in play style, they both take a mario kart approach, with their random box items you can pick up weapons/power ups. In GTS there isn't any of that, it's just straight racing, but there is lots of tracks to choose from. The graphics look great, but I'm still undecided the game does look promising though.
