The Grown Ups In Spandex folks know that the Goseigers shout "Tensouder," i.e. the name of their card readers, and not "Tensou da," when pulling out their Tensouders, right?

This is why I hate fansub groups that translate everything. Some things just "pop" better in Japanese (Such as Momotaros' catch phrase in Kamen Rider Den-O.), and there's nothing wrong with the odd translator's note.

@elcid0685 from the looks of it, i dont think so. I havent seen a single sentai with a battlelizer but then again they dnt rlly need it. Atm ive only seen something similar in shinkenger but that was usable for everyone in the team not just takeru(shinken red)

@Deofiro09 its the other way around. Super Sentai started way back in the 70s with GoRanger. Power Rangers only started in the 90s and even skipped 2 Sentai, Kakuranger (added in MMPR as Alien Rangers) and DaiRanger (where the Shogun Zord comes from).

@seibertron500 Saban never really skipped Dairanger and Kakuranger, just adapted them with the Zyuranger costumes pasted over the ones used in those series. Although the Alien Rangers are a secondary team in MMPR series 3. On another note, Kakuranger had the Shogunzords.

@Deofiro09 Also, the last person to reply left out that the White Ranger from MMPR comes from Dairanger. It went Zyuranger (Season 1 of MMPR) then a mix of Zyuranger, Dairanger (Being the new zords, monsters and White Ranger called KibaRanger in the original Sentai series) and some original footage as well. White Ranger is only there because the Green Ranger in Zyuranger dies and therefore limited the stock footage they'd be able to use but also helps to establish the new zords.

@StevenUlyssesPerhero Also a good point too. In hindsight though, I wonder if Saban regrets not switching costumes for the rangers at the end of season one? They were spending a lot of money on getting two pieces of sentai footage, having to edit the two together and make it hardly noticeable that they were using two different shows and then also having to film original scenes both for the actors themselves AND some new stuff with the suit actors. Season 3 is worst though for budget issues.

@StevenUlyssesPerhero Yeah, it's bad when I look back on it now but I don't regret it being made. It's how I was introduced to Super Sentai. I can say without a doubt that I probably never would have heard of it otherwise. And Space Sheriff Gavan too, I watched when I was young also xD I'm literally jumping in excitement that there's a Gokaiger vs Gavan movie coming out xD Favourite Sentai group with favourite Metal Hero!

Oh the subs for the Goseiger vs Shinkenger part were hard to watch. If you're subbing something like Super Sentai, sometimes you need to back off trying to translate and just let it slide. Sales Report and Calligraphone don't sound as nice as Ikkan Kenjou and Shodophone. And you don't need to translate Sentai. We all know it means a force of some kind. It just looks really messy and too literal when it's being translated in every line though.

@Archdeco Neither do I but it'd be nicer if it was a top of the screen side note like the subs for Go-Onger vs Gekiranger for RinKi Gaisou. The phrases sound cool and you always have a extra bit of translation at the top to learn the literal meaning of the phrase being said. Also an example, Tensou Sentai Goseiger has a really nice ring to it. Heaven's Invocation Force, Goseiger doesn't. However, as a side note, it would be cool.

I prefer just having it all translated, but at least there are multiple subs groups. TV-Nihon for people who like having some Japanese left in, and groups like Over-Time, Aesir and GUIS for people like me.

It's not just for the bits of Japanese they leave in (because sometimes, I think it has to be left in so the terms just roll better in their native language) but also the effects they use on their subs. It's really fun to watch and adds to the overall experience.

I guess you don't know anything about Super Sentai. All of the Power Ranger shows that you watched were adapted from the Japanese Super Sentai series. Mystic Force and SPD are the American adpations of Magiranger and Dekaranger respectively. That's why the costumes that you see here were featured in Power Rangers.

Doing the run of Samurai Sentai Shinkenger and Kamen Rider Decade the shows did a cross over where Decade (a Rider who travels from Rider World to Rider World) ended up in the World of Shinkenger.
