Maria does try drop shots quite often now, and you can see how she's trying to come to the net more. But anyway, with the success she's had "just pounding the ball", who would blame her for not bothering to change her game?

She's trying to anyway, she is adding more variety but it's not her forte, just give her time to become a more rounded player, she's still young and got time to do so.

Some of the Russian/Eastern European Names are a challenge to pronounce and to top it they sound so similar. Not only that, but the players are similar too, no character! Dont get me wrong its no attack on the Countries, its also not the players fault - they simply are the best in the world, however I personally think its effecting the Sport in general. The reason I mentioned US Girls is because they become more famous and this makes Tennis more "In your face" compared to other sports.

Maria Sharapova's play here is superb and for-the-ages. She massacred Hingis with clean winners. I hope she can do this again -- preferably against Serena Williams.

The problem with the Tour is that there arent many Big Names. Only Williams ermmm and thats really it. People who arent really into tennis wouldnt be able to name any other (Maybe Maria Sharapova) Too many Russians with unpronounceable names - I know, not their fault, but at the same time its hurting the womans game. We need more US girls and girls who win the big ones!!!! (cant believe Safina is No.1 - no grand slam title - shameful to be considered the best in the world)

uhm i think Maria Sharapova should be considered a BIG name! She has great game! She is former #1 and proved to be a BIG PLAYERS, she won Grand Slam titles already! But the only problem is her fitness, same as the williams sister!

I have that match on tape. Maria was perhaps her most quiet all year in this match. She was louder playing Serena in AO 2005, and louder when she was playing Safina at RG 2006
