  • Apple snails eat it

  • How to get rid of Duckweed: Net all of your stock (the fish), put them in a spare tank, buy a few feeder Goldfish and put them in, after a few days you should have a few fat Goldfish and a Duckweed-free tank, take them out, treat the tank for ich, and return your original stock. Or put a powerhead in the tank, pointing at the surface. Duckweed hates strong current and will not reproduce in such conditions. With no reproduction, you could net all of it and not have a Duckweed explosion later on.

  • where do you get it

  • Man i wish i could find duckweed no one has it it looks sweet ahh i want it soo bad

  • i dont know how i did it but i went out of town for two weeks , and when i came back my tank was duckweed free

  • you could use a big net and skim it across the surface of the tank... but im not sure.

  • is it bad if it gets in ur power filter i bought a bunch 2 days ago

  • you have some great looking tanks great vids.

  • @damianzxy thanks....love it!

  • Hey Dustin I have never been able to successfully keep duck weed despite all if my attempts I have a 20g angle tank with a t5ho light and a aquaclear 50 on it any suggestions?

  • @dcdude44 angel fish likes to eat it, that's probably why :)

  • @dcdude44 sometime aleapathy, (plant chemical wars) kill duck weed.... Is anything eating it?

  • @dcdude44 try it in bowl in a window with dirty fishtank water and let it grow away from the angels. it might be getting eaten. Do you see in dying or just disappearing?

  • what do u call that plant u have that looks similar to duck weed? is it salvenea?

  • Hey UDstin is an undergravel heater a good idea for dirt???

  • for duckwead use Eheim 3535 Surface suction extractor

  • I once tried to scoop every last Duckweed frond from my 55g tank. But it still grew back. (You can't miss a single frond). I did finally get rid of it, though --unintentionally. I noticed that when my plants were growing really well, the Duckweed grew slowly. So, when I harvested about 80% of the Duckweed, the rest slowly died off. It never came back. That's the trick, I think --competition. Maybe, it's allelopathy.

  • best way to remove duckweed: get a duck.

Now that'd be an exciting specese sunday!

  • I got rid of duckweed. I put some in my 20 long with African Cichlids...yes I know you don't like them. The ph and water hardness was too high and the duckweed died off. What little that was left got sucked into the filter intake. If you want to get rid of duckweed, just get you ph up towards 9, and have a shitty florescent ballast. Mine all died that way.

  • lol its my anerversery today i dumped my gf!

  • @Everythingaquarium ouch. :-/

  • I got some Eleocharis belem(Japanese hairgrass) its its growing slower than molasses. Whats something i can do to make it grow faster?

  • @Carmador You need CO2 to grow Eleocharis

  • I've tried duckweed in my tank but the goldfish always eat it all before it can get established.

  • The only other fish that I can think of that eats duckweed is Silver Dollars...but they eat every plant they see

  • Why do most people not like Duckweed? Just because it's hard to get rid of? I actually like the look of it.. but I've never had Herpes before... in my aquarium! Or in real life ahaha

  • I had a shit load of it in the 55g planted. Ended up aggrevating me. Amazing plant to soak nutrients/limit light like you were saying. I just netted it out and threw it in with the cichlids (rainbows will eat a bit too) or net it and throw it in the pond and the goldfish will grub. Just do it every couple days...also, when you get down to very little floating start shaking your plants. It gets pushed down into the swords and shit (and clean the filters cause its stuck in there).

  • I love neon tetra fish

  • I don't think I've seen any plecos in your setups. I've heard they arent that great to have in a planted tank bc they can skin leaves or what not. What's your take on that? I ask bc I have a few tanks. Some planted some not and 2 of my plecs are spawning like crazy.

  • Hey Dustin, Are you selling that little red tiger lotus in your baby rainbow tank?!
