I adore Bob Dylan and only started listening to MCR a matter of weeks ago but I love both versions. To the haters this might not be a exact carbon copy of the original but it's bringing Dylan to a younger audience you should be celebrating that his music inspires other artists!
Speaking as an old guy who literally grew up on Dylan's music and is still a big fan of his today, all I can say is... F*** YEAH! This is the most intense, thoroughly kick- ass Dylan cover since Jimi did "Like A Rolling Stone" at Monterey Pop back in 1967. (My first concert, BTW!) Maybe there's more to MCR than I thought at first- they sure as hell owned this one.

@waddledude No. It is not the same at all. Dylan used his influences to create a work of art. He takes all of these characters and figures and uses them allegorically to create a poem to illustrate a complex, deep idea. He didn't steal anything. His work was highly original and genius.

O, I love the original, but I really find this a fitting version for the Watchmen film. If you think of Watchmen as an alternate/harder version of the world, it seems to really compliment it. I'm not against all covers, I think they did this one pretty well.

I hope this Punk sound is a taster of what the new album is like. Don't get me wrong, The Black Parade was brilliant, but they were best when they were sounding more punkish.

To be honest, I hadn't heard of this song until MCR did it. I'm not a fan of Dylan, and I actually prefer MCR's version to his. And don't chastise me for that. Dylan is a great lyricist, but his voice just bores me to tears. MCR gave this a nice rock 'n' roll lift. To the people who are having a go at MCR, to be honest, none of the fans give a flying fiddler's. Personally I love MCR, but I also love everything from Bruce Springsteen to Tchaikovsky and Cannibal Corpse. So don't call me a teenie.
they did this for the film watchmen. its a good thing they got mcr to do this cuz they already have a punky style and this version fits really well with the film, and it wasnt even copied, dylan gave permission personally i like it ^^

Bob Dylan's version was a story. these guys just butchered it. Dylan wrote it, and this is one of his best songs. They didnt even cover the entire song! the original is 11 minutes long! AAH this is making me mad haha you can't touch dylan!!

O, I love the original, but I really find this a fitting version for the Watchmen film. If you think of Watchmen as an alternate/harder version of the world, it seems to really compliment it. I'm not against all covers, I think they did this one pretty well.

So naturally you think, 'wow mcr did a version of this?'. You get curious and listen, find it to be complete trash, and see people who actually like it better than the original. And when i say meaningful, im saying that Dylans music wasn't just meaningful to him, it stood for something that a lot of people believed in. So much so that some of his songs became anthems of the civil rights and anti-war movements. He sang about the turmoil of the time not just love ballads that talk about being depressed and killing yourself

And to be fair the bands you named were not in the time period i was talking about. Kiss and ACDC was the 70s and Motley Crue was the early 80s. When i talk about Dylans time, i mean the 60s with Hendrix and Janis Joplin to name a few.

mcr is a hell of a lot more meaningful that a lot of other music these days. and, its not like ALL the old bands sing about meaningful stuff. bands like ac dc and motlue crue or kiss just sing about partying and sex. at least bands that put emotion into their work put their music out there, even though the public are dissing them all the time. that shows that theu believe in what they write and want to please their fans

When Dylan was in his prime it was at a time when writing songs and albums was an art form. But now most music, with some exceptions, is just corporate, cookie-cutter, garbage that big labels put out there because they know idiots who dont know what real music is will buy it. To be honest, I hadn't heard of this song until MCR did it. I'm not a fan of Dylan, and I actually prefer MCR's version to his. And don't chastise me for that. Dylan is a great lyricist, but his voice just bores me to tears. MCR gave this a nice rock 'n' roll lift. To the people who are having a go at MCR, to be honest, none of the fans give a flying fiddler's. Personally I love MCR, but I also love everything from Bruce Springsteen to Tchaikovsky and Cannibal Corpse. So don't call me a teenie.

Hey, I understand that alot of this generation of music is not that good but My Chemical Romance is better then a lot of the rest of it. I am 21 by the way. I like MCR, I like the classics too like AC/DC and I haven't listened to the original by Bob Dylan but I plan to. I respect that you have a different opinion but, at the same time I ask you to have an open mind. MCR is not "Shit" and I do agree most covers can be bad. I don't think that someone should base their opinion of a band on a cover.

I hope you knew this is a cover from the MASTER, Bob Dylan. This is a nice version, but they adapted too much... cut a lot of pieces, but it's still ok.
