Hey did you know that Akuma means "Demon", he was actually the sensei's son and Ryu's friend but he studied the Dark Hadou and slowly began to gain power in lieu of his soul and he ended up killing his father and taking the charm around his neck. You have to watch the movie, it's sick (netflix). Everywhere he goes, all the grass and leaves and shit wither and die.

Akuma has normal defenses (ie he takes the same amount of damage as normal chars). It's just that he starts with below average HP. Therefore he dies faster. It's been like that for awhile.

@agonizethis in reality the reason why he is given low hp is because he fights without using his full power so his oppenent has a chance.........thats why you always see a keen diffrence in just regular akuma and shin akuma which is him in full power

differences between ryu and akuma: AKUMA HAS BETTER OFFENCE BUT TERRIBLE DEFENCE. AKUMA CAN NOT TAKE A LOT OF ABUSE. RYU CAN TAKE THE ABUSE. in order to use akuma to the fullest you always have to combo, if you dont. your gonna get him KO'd pretty fast.
