actually liked. First minute or so I was ready to abuse you for butchering a classic. It may be the fact that we have the same t-shirt but i did actually like it. I think i would have used more of the harmony settings than such a daft punk voice but good work.
Ya its called a vocoder and its an accessory that Mr. Young helped make famous later on. The fact that you compared it to a Daft Punk song means your opinion probably isnt nearly as important as you think, and isnt needed here. Jolsarmy, cant someone post their work without needing to know wether you approve or dissaprove??
@ultimatekingcobra I said that I liked it. Didn't compare it to a daft punk song at all, I compared the settings of the vocoder to those used by daft punk and my only criticism is that perhaps there should be less blend and more harmony on the vocoder. I'm well aware that it's a vocoder, I'm well aware of NY's use of it in the 80s (for the record I'm not overly keen on it). I'm also well aware that bands dont play gigs in empty rooms, people dont post videos on youtube for nobody to see. Settle.
wow this guitar is absoulately beautiful. the guitar work is flawless and only wish i could match your perfection with your gutiar melody. vocals are correct, and work, and are unique...... but a little too daft punk haha. though other than alittle too much sythesizer, great all around, including vocals
This incredible musician is also an equally inspirational teacher. Mr. Myers i wish you all the best and keep rockin the english books too. You really changed the way i approach lifes challenges.
Eric, could you possibly detail how you used the voice Box on the vocs? I assume you dubbed them triggering the tones via ...guitar or keyboard? Musta been guitar lead creating the melody...?
The electric guitar provided the lead melody that triggered the vocal effect and pitch. The guitar plugged into the voicebox, as did the vocal mic. I did not amp the electric guitar. It was only used to trigger.
Thanks very much. I don't think I stated clearly how terrific that Robovoco Neal sound is--your 'formant' setting and guitar style result in something Very Neal Younglike, far better a likeness than what most human singers can accomplish...and then, it's just plain beautiful, too, like the original. Congratulations.
I ordered my V Box today, having lucked out and found one for 150$ from a private Amazon seller.
You look like Nathan Lane.

@jolsarmy I was going for the Trans Era vocoder thing Neil did on songs like Transformer Man.

@EricDMyers yeah i figured that. Its pretty cool actually, kinda like an 80s Neil Young take on the classic Neil Young of the early 70s.
