The father-child bonding fighter in my household when I was younger was DoA. To hear it isn't "serious" has caused my world to shatter. ._.

Anyway, I used to get pissed everytime the people I played with turned off items, but I've played against them so long, I've become them. Really though, it's not too much of a hassle to switch items on or off when depending on who I'm playing. I'll gladly enjoy the game all ways.

@SweetzHere There's a difference between Dead or Alive and Dead or Alive: Beach Volleyball. DoA 4 was played professionally for a long time (Although it was starting to die out when this video was made), but it has been featured in a number of gaming tournaments, including WCG and CGS alongside the likes of Starcraft and Halo. While Tekken and Virtua Fighter have taken dominance in later years, it was still relevant when the video was made.

What is it with casuals and having an utter loathing for people who play the game they want to play it?

If people enjoy playing Smash competitively, then let them. They paid for their copies, so I see nothing wrong with them using it however they want. Watch any video of people in a Smash tournament. Regardless of whether you think it's a "real" competitive game or not, they're still laughing, screaming, and having fun. Amazing how that's apparently a "wrong" thing to do nowadays.

@ItoMANkoto There's nothing wrong enforcing rules for tournament play or whatever, but the problem is when some asshole comes to a party and goes "Let me just do one thing..." And turns items off because he "needs to practice" and then does nothing but whine unless everyone chooses Final Destination.

@DragonslayerProd Those people are douchebags, and are generally disliked by both casuals and hardcore players alike. Nobody should ever impose their playstyle on one another. I think the issue here is that every single tournament player is being lumped alongside the douchebags. I for one enjoy competitive Smash, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy the occasional match where items are all on high on a wacky stage like Big Blue.

@DragonslayerProd I can certainly agree with that. Personally I just ask "can we play without items?" and if people say no, I'll probably just quit after a few matches because I'm not really having fun. Nobody gets their butt chewed out this way.
