  • We have this song in England too.,it is called "The Happy Wanderer!!I learnt it when i was at school over 50 years ago now!!I like this song in German much better though!!!

  • @minipo48 Happy Wanderer is the Original of this Song. And this was a Remake in german

  • @HKMANIAK

Depends on the parents. Some children are guided in a gentle, kindly way. Some are just plain ignored while the parents pursue their plesure without them. I was never beaten and arived at middle age with an excellent education, a great job and a liberal viewpoint.

  • Super!

Ein wunderschönes Lied, hervor ragend interpretiert.

    Danke dafür.

  • @HKMANIAK

I am an american, but have the exact same upbringing. You were afraid as kid to do something stupid infront of neighbors because they would beat you and then call your parents and tell them they beat you and then your parents would beat you for shaming the family infront of neighbors.......But those were the good ole days of being REALLY raised by your parents and learning morals and good manners......i miss those days

  • @sarah51580 rather miss them than admit the painful possibility that a previous generation was misguided and wrong. Personally (and coming from an English background with CP) I think that is why so many people say "well it never did me any harm".... because it quite obviously DID. Some of us, who have had the privillege of emigrating to places CP has long been outlawed, know it was unnecessary. And I would rather admit that my parents/teachers got that part of my upbringing wrong.

  • wunderbar !

  • It's sad, because here in America, he would be viewed as a paedophile. Society has really become backwards.

    Splendid video!

  • I'm glad I don't live in the States

  • I've heard that parents in the States hardly play with their children, anymore. And that they don't hug them.

I realise, of course, that this may be just a generalisation, a wrong impression, so forgive me, if I'm wrong.

  • This is from a time when Europe was European.... and from the past century.. The 21st really is twisted

  • @bachjupp really? When Europeans started two world wars which killed more than 60 million people, & you call this century twisted?? I guess you dont like the immigrants which poured in after Europeans ransacked their countries during the colonial age, but at least they enriched Europe more.

  • @Sturmwaffen

You are possibly right. What a shame that is. Can that be traced perhaps to bible teaching. I don't know but that is a question worth exploring. I really like this video.

Playing it first thing givesa good start to the day.

    Aled

  • @ifuliki

I tried to befriend you but this account is no more. Perhaps you have another.

Ich bin auch ein Wandersmann aund das war immer so.

  • Wo sind meinem Lederhosen und Rucksak?

  • I'm afraid not.

  • Udo ist das Beste!

  • Drum wandr' ich flott, so lang ich kann,

    Und schwenke meinen Hut.

  • Thank you for this translation,MozartsGeist, very Good.

  • Thanks MozartsGeist.

  • Why does the stream murmur and rustle through the reeds ? It's because it free to stream -- it's a joy to the receptive ear. That's why I'll carry my pack and stick far and wide and will be a rambling lad to the cold grave.

  • My father was a rambler and it stays in my blood too

So I ramble happily as long as I can, swinging my hat.

Rambling gives fresh air and keeps your heart healthy.

Breathing fresh air into my breast makes my mouth sing happily...Why does the little bird so joyfully sing his song ?It' s because he never stays in one place but roams hrough the open fields.

Valderi.

  • nice.

  • Danke Orion

  • Could someone please translate what is being said. He has an excellent voice and this is a great video. Thanks for posting it Orion.

  • Basically his father was a wanderer and its in his blood too. And he singing about how cool wandering around is.

  • lol

  • That's a pretty accurate summary . . . and Udo Jürgens has just about the right amount of "coolness" to portray the sentiment of the song. (Yes, I'm being sarcastic here, but I also like the song. . . .) :-)

  • Anyone got Eddie Calvert's version?

  • Udo has no voice.

  • Why do you say that?
