SHAME ON Fort Bliss Military Base for using an area in the middle of a large urban city. SHAME ON the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department for not taking action to obtain the land. The place will be fully destroyed by the time they wake up. You can get the complete climbers guide at vcrux.com
No fence yet, But there's a strange sign that say's the caves are being monitored by remote cameras. Picto's are still there but taggers are getting worse. This would not happen if hikers and climbers were allowed to safeguard the place.
@spiceydragon1000 Yes the fence is now in. The pictographs are there but gangs painted all over the rock. If hikers and climbers were allowed back there it would have never been damaged. Ft. Bliss really screwed El Paso over by neglecting this precious land. Ft. Bliss needs to clean it up and give the land to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. NOT the City of El Paso. The city will simply sell it to Jobe or Cemex and turn it into a quarry like the rest of the mountain.
@kylesmeili It's on the East face of the Franklin Mountain range. Heading West bound from Hwy 54 on Transmountain 1 mile past the Museums. You can't miss it now. There's a huge ugly chain link fence blocking the trailhead. For years people talk about saving the place, but nothing ever happens. So it's all trashed.
