Most of the people in the so called "Ex Gay" ministries were openly gay before they chose to live for God! The world is bigger than the bubble you love in!
We know that God has always created, loved & created diversity among His children. It's His decision to make some of them gay, and that's the way He wants them. The myths in the Bible about homosexuality being a "sin" were written by men in an era of great ignorance, and have been badly edited, translated & interpreted since then. It's not possible to stop being gay, any more than it's possible to stop being black, left-handed or tall, because that's how the Lord made you. Why argue with Him?
@zekonja24 God the father, God the son, and God the holy spirit are all one. You have to find a personal relationship with Jesus to find him. Church is a place to worship the most high God. But nobody enters the father's kingdom but through Jesus. I have become a fisher of men.
I'm allergic to cats but if I take a pill it's cool hahaha only for 12 hours cuz it wears off... and I happen to like cats... my point is yeah you can suppress certain things to live a better life but being gay is not one of those things you need to suppress it would be like suppressing your hunger for food, your thirst for water I mean straight ppl need to understand that just as they have feelings for the opposite sex naturally a gay person has them to for their same sex... simple as that
It's been my observation though, that gay activists are too busy with their own agenda that they just hate anybody who might have a story they feel does damage to their cause and so they falsely lable as homophobic or internalized homophobic whereas to have a simple moral objective to homosexual behavior isn't seen as just a moral objection but rather the rejection of the glbt individual while this is simply not true, and this could likely cause a lot of the static...
@SarahMelnychuk In the US society gays have to fight for a place in society, which holds all kind of simplistic lies/truths like the "gay agenda". So ex gay becomes a touchy subject. It implies directly that ALL gays can change, and "exgay" is used as a weapon against gays.. As in: You can change, but you dont want to. In reality, there is huge number of people claiming that ex gay therapy didn't help. And what is ex gay? And ex gay is a product of religion and society, not from the gays.
I say this as somebody who has journeyed out of homosexuality and as an individual with friends who do identify as glbt ... you are right, there can be this hostility and tension between a friendship between somebody who's gay and the other who has journeyed out but these kinds of friendships do exist and ppl on both sides can be civil and agree to disagree and respect each other in their differences.
correction ... that's not to say that ppl don't suppress their emotions and sexuality as I'm certain some do but not all. There are those with a healthy perspective when they start out and those who don't. Generally speaking those with a healthy perspective will have success in their faith journey as they seek to live their lives that is congruent with their faith.
You say suppress but it's not about suppressing your feelings... generally speaking, when you begin a journey out of homosexuality you become very intimately aware of your emotions, on the contrary to the suggested suppressing you've generalized... but think of it this way, that's not to say that ppl who start out on the journey do suppress their emotions and sexuality but those with a healthy perspective don't are the ones who make the successful transition into heterosexuality.
I sometimes wonder how many "successful ex-gays" were ever actually gay. What if they were a bit more effeminate and had some natural sexual curiosity, and became convinced that they must be gay. If a heterosexual were in an very anti-gay environment but had these leanings, they could easily misinterpret themselves. These people really would desperately want to be str8 (because they are), and if left to their own devices would probably realise that, albeit with some stereotypically gay
Sorry, you just don't get it do you! Yes we are born gay. It's not God's fault. It's not our fault. Get over it! Live your life to the full. "God's Glory is Man fully Alive." (St. Irenaeus, early Christian writer). Being "fully alive" means loving to the fullest. Although our sexuality is gift of God, homosexual acts proceed from a disorder allowed by God. God does not eliminate all evils. Otherwise He would have to do miracles millions of times, and deprive us of the glory of overcoming evils!
"More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of." Tennyson. The poet was wrong! EVERY GOOD THING has been brought to humanity by a person dying. Christ who never married was the greatest Lover! We often perceive Evil(being inhuman) as good. Homosexual acts are evil and destructive of our human nature. "My ways are not your ways, nor your ways my ways." Isaiah 55: 8-9 YOU are called to be a "Tremendous Lover" "The Hound Of Heaven" Francis Thompson, poet, drug addict & Catholic!
Some are born gay, or blind or with an irascible temperament, etc. These are "defects". God never intends evil,, but He permits it for a greater good. My gayness I admit, but I struggle not to practice it. I am a Catholic priest and "gave my life to God and Humanity". Love is the "one thing necessary" to be fully human. I concentrate on loving humanity and every person I meet. Each one has a worth and dignity BEYOND COMPARE to quote John Paul ll. Giving in to my damaged self, would destroy me!
@watchful38 being born gay is not a defect you are saying god made a m istake when she created gay people..but according to your "logic" god doent make mistakes
"Ex-Gay" is a delusional exercise in futility and self-denial.
People become 'ex-gay' when they've bought in to the self-hatred that the anti-gay industry pushes upon society. Most rational and sane people realize that being 'ex-gay' is lying to oneself, which I would think would be the ULTIMATE form of blasphemy. God does not make mistakes, which is why trying to NOT be gay, the way God made you is both immoral and blasphemous.
The reason that gays and Christians don't generally get along all that well, is because both have had life changing experiences that are, in they're minds, indisputably true: For Gays, it's Coming Out. For christians it's Being Saved.
"Ex-Gays" are only gay people with a modified social behavior, but they are still gay on the inside. You can get a MAC and change its carcass for a PC's, but it will ALWAYS be a MAC.
Celibacy is an option. Love is not an option....Love is essential to life. Sexual love is not essential!!! I am a celibate gay priest! You are illogical. Love, by all means, but not sexual love! It is obviously a disorder. All of us have a "Cross" to carry in life! "To be fully human is the Glory of God." St. Ireaneus. We gays who are practicing Catholics don't hate the Pope. We love Humanity, and offer our deprivation of sex as a prayer for humanity. And the world needs all the love it can get!
@watchful38 -- Why would you blasphemize God by denying the way He made you? I feel so sorry for Catholics because they are so totally misguided in their beliefs. God created us as SEXUAL beings, so to deprive yourself of what it is to be human is the ultimate insult to God. Denying your sexuality is the disorder. Whether you are a priest or monk doesn't matter. Your deprivation doesn't help humanity in the least. It only harms you and insults God.
I was always gay...I can look back to my early memories and I know I was gay; vibrant and alive and expressive...And this was the 1960's...I learned very quickly about homophobic hatred...It made me angry, that people hated me so much because I was a male and I wanted to be intimate with other males...But I made the decision that I would stand up against this ignorance till the day I die...And i have and I continue to do so..I have no doubt that this great Universe created me for MANY reasons!
Also, I don't fully accept that homosexuality isn't psychological. I know it's like a mortal sin to compare homosexuality to pedophilia but hear me out... There have been links to pedophilia (another sexual anomoly) and brain damage or phsycial discourse in the brain...
When people think of Genetics. They assume hardwired cells in their body contributing to their sexual preference. That is not genetics. At least not entirely. Also, people don't like to mention that most of the studies involving homosexuality applies mostly to men. Furthermore, none of the studies take into account those who "turned gay" after prison sexual abuse, childhood sexual abuse, and other traumatic experiences... There just isn't 1 type of Gay and there never has been.
The peanut analogy? I love it! Never heard that one before but it sure makes sense. It's interesting that gays will essentially claim to have a 'female' allergy and get steamed at bisexuals who happily do not suffer from any allergies. It almost seems that to be 'fully gay' some people have to pretend to have an allergy that they may not have (to women) just to join the gay religion/political party.
It amazes me how people are so influenced by a ancient book only written by men. Men who we truly know nothing about them excpet what they have written. How logically anyone can follow these long ago DEAD PEOPLE is beyond logical comprehension. i say this not just for the topic of sexuality but just in general. Why do so many people follow ancient books of religion. it's just inconceivable people measure their lives from dead peoples views of how to live their lives
ex gay- Religion is a joke. They try to brain wash us all with religion crap. If your gay, your gay. You can not change , who you are. I would rather be gay. Than be religous, or to goto church.
I know some gays who indroduced a little pussy into their life , at first just a glimpse maybe an upskirt but over weeks a little more and a little more and now they are carpet muching daily, but if they stopped for a month and a girl flashed a pussy they'd have a violent allergic reaction
Best article on homosexuality was in Scientific America in 2005 or 2006 special issue on sexuality. It deals with causes, genetics, endocrinology etc. Bottom line being Gay is normal, just as being heterosexual is normal. We need to accept each other.
@Ninjadelusion Good comparison! There is not much tolerance in the gay community for those who have overcome the gay lifestyle. Anyone who is no longer active in in the lifestyle is seen as a threat to what they stand for.
What a fascinating video, good subject to bring up. When I came out to a friend not that long ago, he in turn told me he was an "ex gay". Having never encountered one before, by immediate reaction was defensive, it was like a nightmare incarnate was now talking to me. However, we have talked a lot more since then, and he has thrown alot of what I considered well established beliefs around. To be clear, I don't believe in ex gay ministries, but I do love my ex gay friend a hell of alot.
You can't be totally open to all society because they don't accept it! Being out means being to those who deserve to know about your sexual orientation, others who can't deal with it, you don't tell them because they have a one track mind because of their religious beliefs or whatever. I do know Christians who accept gays even though they are straight! Ex Gay propaganda is just another way phony Christians try to convert gullible closeted gays who never totally came in the first place!
""The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree"
people bother with the bible at all because its gods word? and if you were ever a christian you would know that...i bet your some dumbass who doesnt go to church exept for easter. anyways i actually pray and read my bible hopefully i go to heaven but i know fer sure that you won't unless you do the same and come to realize being gay is wrong. best of luck
@x2Ice2x If there's any stupidity exhibited here, it's more likely found in your suggestion that blind, unquestioning adherence to Church doctrine over critical thought has somehow made you more intelligent. Mind you, from your pontificating, sanctimonious tone, I'd guess it easier for you to tell yourself you know God's mind concerning who gets into heaven than achieving an enlightened understanding of the Bible by noting key passages, like:
@ross613 You use much prejudice in your apparent assumption in believing I have "unquestioning adherence to church doctrine" Know this that I do not go to any church. I study, read, pray, and try to comprehend the mysteries of god by myself for myself. I believe that you have misconstrued the meaning of that verse for it was used by jesus to explain spirtual matters not justify your personal view of a matter.
@ross613 Behold!<--meheheh "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:" "and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of women, burned in their lust one toward another; men ith men working that which is unseemly, and recieving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. Do you not clearly see in romans 1 verse 26-27 that which clearly states being gay is wrong? Hell is upon the gay
@x2Ice2x Even were I to concede that the passage quoted were being correctly interpreted, in context (which I don't); the fact would remain that the Bible was written all but entirely (if not entirely) by men born of traditions which associated celibacy with spiritual purity. Thus the Bible is also an expression of certain cultural biases which may not apply and to which unquestioning adherence shall inevitably detract from the main messages - "thou shalt not be gay" least evident among them.
@ross613 I see...once you lost your points based upon bible verses you resort to blasphemy. Those verses are impossible to be misinterpreted as the wording is so strong it would be foolish to attempt to interpret otherwise. Please oh great and mostly knowing one grant me your opinion that seemingly is devoid of "cultural biases" so that i may further understand the verses that are found in romans 1 v 26-27 pray tell what they mean.
@x2Ice2x And somewhere towards the back Jesus points out that the old testement is obselete and to follow \him and him alone! Hence Matthew 7:1. On that note the bible was used as an excuse to exterminate the Jews the very people that wrote it! They killed Jesus remember. That single book has caused more wars, more genocide and human rights atrocities than any other piece of literature in human history all in the name of god written and interpretted by man! If this is truly gods word! KEEP IT!
@swingingsafari007 lol I was messing with ross in that comment. I doubt anything you just said can be proven and the only attempted genocide of jews that I can think of at the moment is Hitlers attempt. The human rights atrocities and your claim at any other piece of literature in human history can be disputed. The quran has also been just as effective at causing wars and genocide and human rights atrocities. The old testament is not obselote just the parts in which it defines sacrifice and sin.
@swingingsafari007 Romans btw is in the new testament not the old ;] Jewish people were persecuted because they were God's people. Many people who commit evil or are evil don't think they are...if they did kill jews they thought they were doing it because they had done wrong and not because they were God's people...Satan uses humans the same way God does except with less power.
@ross613 I almost pity your lack of understanding. It is you who art blind and your stupidity which decieves yourself. Who are you to tell me that you can talk of gods mind concerning who gets into heaven. Don't you know it will only be the ones who do as jesus said and love god with all your mind, your heart, and your strength and live by evrey word that proceedeth out of god which would mean the bible because it is gods word after all. Perhaps you should pray for understanding and love of god.
@x2Ice2x Um what? Actually it was me accusing you of pretending to know God's mind....I don't know where you got the idea I was somehow duplicating you. (I doubt I ever would.)
And call me "stupid" all you like. I'm not likely to feel at all insecure about my intellect when corresponding with you. ;)
@ross613 Yes it was you accusing me but absolutely no grounds can you be justified in doing so. I can accuse you of that based upon the fact that you have directly misinterpreted one of the verses and attempted to avoid two verses that are spoken from one of Jesus diciples and remember this Jesus prayed for 12days and nights to decide who would be his diciples. You insult God by telling us that the bible has cultural biases. The bible is a conduit used by God to speak to we as a people.
@x2Ice2x Misinterpret? Actually, that particular passage is pretty clear in its intent; and I've never heard anyone other than you attempt to twist its meaning to justify attacking homosexuality. And "attempted to avoid"? I hesitate to ask only out of fear you'll achieve some new level of crazy in your response: what are you talking about?
The Bible may indeed have been divinely inspired; but its contents and interpretation are varied amongst Christian churches & over time.
@x2Ice2x I have a lot of difficulty accepting the "Bible represents the spoken word of God" argument. I think it's a whole lot more than that and through its study one can better know and understand God. But I will not accept that God wishes harm to homosexuals, or the ridiculous idea that they will "fry in hell" for the manner in which He fashioned some of us. My read of the Bible suggests He'd have us believe almost anything other than that, in fact!
@ross613 The only reason you have difficulty doing so is because you don't seem to believe it. Its good to study the bible and whatnot but that is exactly what the pharisees and scribes did. So please try not to become what they were and simpily try to understand it for spirtual reasons. I never once said that God wishes us to harm them however it would be prudent not to try and evaluate the mind of God. I do believe from what one of Jesus's disciple's stated means that they will go to hell.
@ross613 That is almost like the do not judge parable. I really doubt that Jesus ever meant that verse to be anything other then a spirtual lesson. I think that if his disciple described them as an abomanation that they would be viewed in a much different light then an adultress would. So please do not try to equate that what is described in romans 1 v 26-27.
@x2Ice2x One additional thought I had on this subject I wanted to share centers on the story of Jesus stopping the stoning of an adulteress. In the story, Jesus challenges any in the assembled crowd who is without sin to case the first stone. Insodoing, he was breaking away from the scriptures which dictated stoning for such a crime. And as the only one there without sin, Jesus didn't stone the woman - which should make one pause about concluding the fate of gays, don't you think? (see John 8)
@ross613 IF you mean to say "that particular passage is pretty clear on ts intent" then you by your own words tell me that you agree that it says homosexuality is wrong. Yes I justify myself through that passage because it states that its wrong. Yes I agree various churches both "Catholic" and "christian" have made different interpretations of the bible...however I make my own based on what I read. Yes they make interpretations but I do not ever use theirs I only use mine.
It's no such thing as ex-gay only gays who have learn to live with having sex with the opposite sex. but there nothing wrong wih being gay in the frist places
One other question to consider here is whether or not people ought to be compelled to undergo a gradual conversion away from their "default" sexual orientation. Some will interpret the penut analogy (if even true) to pose the notion that gay is in some sense a "choice". Whereas I, as a worshipper of both God and liberty, would argue the only rational course is to favour tolerance regardless.
My favourite approach when trying to help religious, gay friends reconcile Christian beliefs with homosexuality is to say the Bible isn't "gospel truth". This argument is vulnerable to: "you can't pick and choose what parts of God's law to follow", etc. But actually not only can you pick & choose — you're supposed to. It's easy to see someone claiming to be God's mouthpiece & think He put the Church, the pulpit & those very words in the robed figure's mouth - but it doesn't work that way.
It is not as simple as Gay or Straight. I think a majority of people are in the gray area in between. A gay person can have sex with the opposite sex, and many of them do. The opposite is true, straight people can have sex with the same sex. But that is just because we are, generally, a bunch of Horn Dogs.
-
But the question isn't what CAN you do, but what do you want to do? Who do you want to have sex and fall in love with?
-
So, an exgay, could be someone in the gray area. It happens.
I think it's the hypothalmus. Some are pure straight, some bi, and other pure gay. Those who have hypothalmus that find both sexes attractive can live equally happy either way in the sexual sense. They may never have hidden urges to ever change whichever they go with. Those who have hypothalmus that only/mostly attracted to same sex, will never be happy with the opposite sex.
So it can happen. Its not ex-gay, its that they are bi-sexual leading to either 50% or less gay attraction.
Am an adult gay male. Knew I was gay at 14. Not molested/raped, I grew up as Roman Catholic in New Jersey, USA. Either I lie and be straight or tell truth and be me (gay), In my opinion, there is no such thing as an ex-gay. One can stifle one's own preferences, but the preferences are still there. Parents (both Italian-American, born in Italy, strict Roman Catholic), told me, it's ok, we always knew. I want to thank you for your video. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Jay in San Diego
Its not what you do dude, its whats in your heart, its how you feel that makes you gay. You can never have sex with the same sex and still be gay. Its the attraction for the same sex that makes one gay.
uhh i got 1 point to add and that is EX-Gay Ministries allowing parents to force there children into inhuman treatment and ultimately damaging them phychologically
wow, prior to this video I had only seen your first two, "coming out" and "live as a gay jock." The difference in your confidence is amazing. I know you are not out at school yet, but I mean it is amazing how much stronger you seem as a person, just 7 months or so after the other two posts I watched. Congrats, you seem to be thriving, can't wait to watch more of your vids. Thanks!
both the Old and New Testaments condemn men lusting after either men or women and genital if not specifically anal sex between men (and between men and women outside of marriage wherein a man and a woman have been made on flesh ) - however lust is not love , and so one may be a male homosexual who loves another man and as long as he doesn't express this love by inappropriate sexual conduct, he hasn't violated a commandment in either testament:i.e. the Bible does not prohibit being gay per se
Boston is a liberal city, get out if you are not. Anyway preaching the Bible to one that thinks its a peace of crap is a waste of time on your part. Also even for one that does believe in the Bible, this persons INTERPRETATION of it may differ from yours.
You have to suffer horribly and be reduced to being a leper begging for a crust of bread after having lost absolutely everything (like Job did) in order for God to think you have been good enough to deserve a reward.
GOTCHA
Wait.....I'm confused.....Just how did Solomon suffer with all his riches and those 1000 wives and concubines.
HOLD IT.......1000 Women....I take it back.....thet IS suffering.
1. I don't just listen to Atheists...I listen to everybody. (including morons) After all...I'm listening to you aren't I?
2. I am NOT an Atheist.
3. About Paul.....His writings speak for themselves....I don't need to judge him. I'm not God. (Thank Heavens cos having to judge all the fools and idiots in the world would drive me insane)
Second grade??? Ok.... But anyway, I read the BIBLE. That's all the revelation I need. I am not influenced by what atheist say or anyone else. I read the BIBLE. The BIBLE. :) BTW, I never said I "listen to the voices." What do you mean by "THE voices...?" If you're placing emphasis on "THE" voices, then I don't know what you're talking about. I have heard of a few psychological terms that relate to conditions in which people hear voices. But not "THE voices." :)
It is pretty well accepted that Paul was a misogynist and a woman hater and some authorities believe that Paul himself was Gay. His attitudes toward women are obvious to anyone who reads his writings.
Re: Promises of Paradise....
Check out Jeff Dunham's Ventriloquist Act...Achmed The Dead Terrorist.
"Forget 72 Virgins...Give me 72 slutty women who know what they're doing."
Learn about ancient Jewish culture and the Bible before judging Paul. Jewish women were treated as mere possessions with no authority in civil or cultural matters. A man had several wives & concubines & could divorced them for no reason, BUT Paul said that a man must give his life to his wife (Eph 5:25), give his wife authority over his body (1 Cor 7:4), have only one wife who he couldn't leave (1 cor 7:11) love his wife as his own body (Eph 5:28) & to not treat her harshly (Col 3:19). STUDY!!
John 13:23"Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved." asimpleinstrument homosexuality is men who love men and engage in physical intimacy - Jesus loved John and allowed John to engage in the physically intimate act of laying his head on Jesus' chest - while am not claiming that this indicates that Jesus had a homosexual relationship with John, nevertheless homosexuality is similar to the Bible's description of Jesus' relations with John
That is the greatest stretch I've ever heard. Jesus is our (and John's) big brother in the family of God. Here's proof: Rom 8:29, "For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters."
It is not at all uncommon for little brothers who sit on their big brothers' laps to lean against their chest. John had a very strong brotherly love (a family love) -- not a lover's love as homosexuals share.
Jesus' "family love" for his "siblings" is a "lover's love" for he is their husband: Eph. 5:31,32 "...a man...shall be joined unto his
wife...I speak concerning Christ and the church." 2Cor. 11:2 "I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present [you as] a chaste virgin to Christ." etc. Males, including the Apostle John, are members
of Christ's body/wife the Church. Christ thus has a lover's love for these males, his brothers, a love as of a husband & wife-a lover's love as gays share.
Before Simple accuses me of not knowing the Bible, I would note that I was raised by a long line of Preachers to become a Baptist Minister and my father had me studying the Bible as soon as I could read.
I find it interesting that MOST religions promise Paradise for following their rules but there's a catch.....You Must DIE To Get Your Reward.
Does anyone know of a religion that gives you your reward for being good while you are still ALIVE?
If you would've known the Bible, you would've known the following:
1) We can receive rewards while we live: Luke 18:29-30, "Yes, Jesus replied, and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the Kingdom of God, will be repaid many times over IN THIS LIFE, and will have eternal life in the world to come.
2) God rewarded Solomon by making him the richest King in the history of Israel. This is in 2 Chronicles 1:10-12.
The 10 Commandments were the Laws given by God to Moses for "His Chosen People" aka The Jews. They were never meant to apply to Gentiles. I am not a Jew therefore the 10 Commandments do not apply to me.
It's interesting that the religion is named "Christianity" but as Simple notes, the majority of the New Testament was written by Paul, and all the condemnations of homosexuality also came from Paul. Maybe we should rename the religion Paulianity and forget about Jesus.
Jesus said that the 10 commandments are kept by loving God and your neighbor.
Now, regarding Paul's version of the Gospel: read Galatians 1:11, "...I want you to understand that the gospel message I preach is not based on mere human reasoning. I received my message from no human source, and no one taught me. Instead, I received it by direct revelation from Jesus Christ. Paul received his instruction directly from Jesus Christ. So, what do you have to say now, sir?
I've proven that you, indeed, need to study Scripture before attempting to enter into such debates as this one. Please do, you may learn something about God you never knew. :)
Not everyone who claims to be Christian is truly Christian:
matthew 7:22-23, "Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me..." 1 John 2:19, "They went out from us, but they did not belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us."
So, don't broad-brush Christianity with your opinions.
Just because you've only known of one ex-gay who gets along with a gay doesn't mean that many more exist. It's not religion that creates a problem between ex-gays and gays, it's the lack of Bible knowledge. A true Christian does not judge non-believers (gays) and desires to show them the loving character of Jesus to them. Don't confuse fake Christians with true Christians.
You implied that all non-believers are gays with that comment, and this is incorrect. Jesus said many things- none of which about homosexuality. The only parts of the bible that do talk about homosexuality condemn it, and call believers to stone us/murder us/etc.
In Acts 20:35 The Apostle Paul tells us that Jesus said: "It is more blessed to give than to receive." Yet this statement is not found in any of the Gospels. Also, John wrote that there were many things Jesus did that were not recorded in the Gospels (John 20:30). What's my point? Just because the Gospels didn't record Jesus making any statements about homosexuals doesn't mean he never said anything about them. Jesus clarified things to the Jews, but homosexuality did not need clarification.
Jesus did not need to clarify anything regarding homosexuals because the Old Testament was very clear on the issue. It was a sin and still is. The Apostle Paul made this abundantly clear. But if you eliminate Paul's writings, then get rid of the New Testament because Paul wrote a large majority of it.
Exactly my point. The old testament makes it very clear, you should be stoning me by now. Are you not a "true christian?" For if you do not, based upon another quote from your bible, then you are openly portraying a contradiction within it.
Your statement clearly proves that you have no true knowledge of Scripture. You are confusing Israel's civil laws with the moral law of God. There were 3 types of laws in the Old Testament: the civil, ceremonial, and moral. Jesus replaced the ceremonial laws with the sacrifice of His body (as the lamb) (Heb 10:8-10), and we are not living according to civil laws (e.g. stoning) of the ancient Jews, but have our own U.S. law that we follow (Rom 13:1-7), but keep the moral law (1 John 2:7).
Again, you are doing what other frustrated atheists have done. Attacked my character instead of staying on the topics of debate, which BTW you are losing. No, considering how women were treated in ancient times, Jesus was BY FAR the perfect gentlemen toward them. I don't support slavery, but some slaves enjoyed their occupation back then. Now, it a person wants to be a slave, and "sells' himself, then that's their personal preference. Don't most people feel like "slaves" at their jobs? :)
Let's see: you went from proving the Bible as being some book of fairy tales, and jump to question me? Are you not directing your attention to me and not staying on the topic being debated?
You assumed it, but you definitely implied it; let's be honest now... please? Again, you seem to be making yourself appear more foolish as this communication continues. But please, continue. :)
Actually I branched from morality, which is one of the points you brought up. You claimed to use the old testament for morals, yet do not follow the sexist/etc. values it presents. What were you saying about reading ability? It is not the burden of the one denying the statement to provide evidence, when no evidence in favor of the statement has been provided without being shot down. Therefore, it is your duty to prove the bible is historically accurate, not for me to deny the contrary.
For the third time, I say this regarding the O.T.: Christians consider the O.T. moral law (ten commandments) only -- not the cultural or civil values. Why is this so difficult for you to understand?
Alos, you cannot disprove God's existence so you put the burden on Christians to prove God exists. This is the oldest atheist trick in the book. This is truly ridiculous.
asimpleinstrument, maybe if you want to be taken seriously, you should NOT belittle Scott by calling him foolish, or inferior to your knowing (of the Bible) intellect. You ask not to be attacked on your character (which Scott isn't doing btw) yet you're calling him an outright ignorant fool. Try using decent debating guidelines and restrictions before accusing another of violation. :(
I wrote that this guy is attacking my character not because my feelings were hurt, or because I want to be taken seriously, but simply to prove that he's doing what typical atheists do when they find themselves losing in a debate like this one. The problem today is too many people are way too sensitive -- normal sensitive is ok, but getting hurt by words from a total stranger? Come on now...
I have lost no debate, nor attacked anyone's character- as has been shown to you. Whenever I make a crucial interjection, you avoid it and instead quote the bible about some other portion of my comment; or, you accuse me of attacking your character- anything but answer the interjection. And I indeed see why, as you crossed all over yourself when attempting to address morality.
I lost and I know it? Are we in the second grade? I don't even need to make arguments, or point out the flaws in your thinking anymore- you make yourself appear to have the thought process of a child all on your own.
Yes and People who Chose to represent and brag about their false knowledge From ancient book of fairy tells know all about MORALITY Especially since all that crap that you've been spewing is ridiculous NONSENSE. You've been based your argument on pure untrue magical belief Which when faced with FACT Never Stood a chance
I am a Christian, not a Jew living in the B.C. era. Don't ignore the New Testament instruction regarding how homosexuality, adultery, and any other type of sex outside of marriage is a sin. You can create every excuse imagineable but you can't escape the Word of God.
Hi Scott, I think you have part of the picture. Religion plays a big part, I personally believe that the only ones that are truly accessible, going through the process of ex-gay ministry. Or the ones that are actually bisexual. Is soon as I can I'm going to try to make a video that explains this. But at present, I can't put voice into video. So I'm stuck with slideshows.
okay great but what if the ex-gays where really bisexual?.seriously dude omfg you sound just as bad as a christian why dose it make such a big deal you like guys who cares its not what you are but what you do so stop judging people about the surface, let them be.
i have friend that are different from me gay str8 bi black white yellow pink but i judge them on Courage, Reliability, Sincerity, Friendship, Knowledge & there Kindness not on superfical shit like sex age race gender or anything else
most all of us know how hard it is on the soul to supress who we are, it just comes out of you in one fashion or another, making you more & more unhappy & frankly crazed. im an older guy who has volunteered for years, helping gay & even X gay ppl pick up the pieces of their tortured, broken lives, mostly as a result of religious indoctrination. i say to you all, after looking into every one of these poor souls eyes... X gay therapy just doesnt work, is only psychologically damaging. 1 life
HI Scott, that was a well said vid of yours, I would have to argee that there would be a lot trouble in the world if people were to just be them selfs and be open about it.
But for now that is the dream I have for some day and hopefuly soon!
Equality for All, Not just for the one, But for All Terran Life.
good video Scott, but I would be careful with that peanut allergy, while the pure metaphor is true, the human mind while hearing it will say that a peanut allergy is generally undesirable and unwanted by those who have it - we don't see any peanut allergy pride parades, now do we? lol. So to some it might hurt being a metaphor for being gay.
People with peanut allergies generally aren't opressed for having said allergy. So then are we to determine that the perfect human would be gay? Would the perfect human have a peanut allergy? The answer to those questions is undoubtably: no. While we accept ourselves as being gay, and being gay is completely natural, it is clear that it is a bump in the road. However, I believe it is a natural bump of evolution, as our population exceeds the limits of our planet.
Oppression is usually a result of fear of the unknown, something that is evolutionary instilled in us to keep us alive, but to say that that means that the perfect person would be straight is to say that straight is the ideal, and gay is the faulty which evolutionary speaking is untrue (I believe asexual would be the ideal).
Also I believe the current evolutionary reasoning for homosexuality is that gay siblings would stay within the family and raise the young, helping the genes to survive.
I think talking about "gay or exgay" is useless without a definition of what it means to be gay or straight. Someone can be gay who isn't gay if your definition is one of actions. The porn world is filled with "str8" boys who are "gay for pay." These boys IMO are not "Str8" but they do have sex with women and they indicate that they're "hardwired" for being str8, hence, "gay for pay."
But there are also all the guys that I've gotten close to who are str8. What about them? So why not exgay
There is no one genetic cause of being gay. But the fact is that some are undeniably only sexually satisfied by others of their own sex. And that this propensity is not easily understood but is almost certainly unchangeable in adulthood but it is still a choice to have sex not a choice what kind of sex you want tho.
What will happen when parents can choose there babies identities. Blond, blue-eyed, str8, 6 feet tall...? That is the question that is coming. Will gays be a dying species?
There are men who switch sides. 40 seems to be a magic number for men who have been str8 all their lives to suddenly become gay. I've met several guys who claim never to have even dreamed of another dude and now they are gay!!! YAY!!
And I've met one guy who was gay and all of a sudden became str8. What is going on here?
I've also met str8 boys who when pursued will give it up but if they were never pursued they would be just str8. What's with that?
Considering it's an analogy I swear by, try elaborating a little more than "LOL." It does not analyse sexuality in itself, but rather sexuality's relation to the genetic make-up.
Sorry if my LOL made you angry. It is funny(to me at least) that you compare being gay to something so very undesirable as an allergy. All kinds of analogies can be used and since Aristotle showed that all analogies are false both sides could go back and forth ad infinitum with analogies.
My point is that no two sexualities are the same. You say "it's genetics" but don't explain what genetics is. Sexuality's relation to genetics is very complicated.
One genetic force may be responsible for one man's sexuality but another genetic force could be influential in another's sex make-up. To say "it's genetics" does not explain anything. Why is one identical twin "gay" and another is not?
Most of the people in the so called "Ex Gay" ministries were openly gay before they chose to live for God! The world is bigger than the bubble you love in!

We know that God has always created, loved & created diversity among His children. It's His decision to make some of them gay, and that's the way He wants them. The myths in the Bible about homosexuality being a "sin" were written by men in an era of great ignorance, and have been badly edited, translated & interpreted since then. It's not possible to stop being gay, any more than it's possible to stop being black, left-handed or tall, because that's how the Lord made you. Why argue with Him?

Are you telling me that an armaphrodite (BORN WITH BOTH SEXES) CAN'T FIND LOVE WITH A MAN OR A WOMAN EVER?
You're telling me that GOD create that human being, to never find love and send that person to Hell? Remember is BORN WITH THE 2 SEXES.
Because based on you're theory this human:
Cant have sex with a MALE cause have the same sex and...
Cant have sex with a WOMAN cause have the same sex
ARE YOU SAYING GOD CONDEM THAT INNOCENT HUMAN BEING TO HELL BEFORE IT WAS BORN? NOT!

SarahMelnychuk 4 months ago
@SarahMelnychuk In the US society gays have to fight for a place in society, which holds all kind of simplistic lies/truths like the "gay agenda". So ex gay becomes a touchy subject. It implies directly that ALL gays can change, and "exgay" is used as a weapon against gays.. As in: You can change, but you dont want to. In reality, there is huge number of people claiming that ex gay therapy didn't help. And what is ex gay? And ex gay is a product of religion and society, not from the gays.
Ranokian 2 months ago
I say this as somebody who has journeyed out of homosexuality and as an individual with friends who do identify as glbt ... you are right, there can be this hostility and tension between a friendship between somebody who's gay and the other who has journeyed out but these kinds of friendships do exist and ppl on both sides can be civil and agree to disagree and respect each other in their differences.
SarahMelnychuk 4 months ago
@SarahMelnychuk Just wondering.. this is part 2 btw... So i wrote more.. What do you see as ex gay? No attraction towards the same gender anymore?
Ranokian 2 months ago
correction ... that's not to say that ppl don't suppress their emotions and sexuality as I'm certain some do but not all. There are those with a healthy perspective when they start out and those who don't. Generally speaking those with a healthy perspective will have success in their faith journey as they seek to live their lives that is congruent with their faith.
SarahMelnychuk 4 months ago
You say suppress but it's not about suppressing your feelings... generally speaking, when you begin a journey out of homosexuality you become very intimately aware of your emotions, on the contrary to the suggested suppressing you've generalized... but think of it this way, that's not to say that ppl who start out on the journey do suppress their emotions and sexuality but those with a healthy perspective don't are the ones who make the successful transition into heterosexuality.
SarahMelnychuk 4 months ago
If you're born gay, you die gay. There's no "cure" as there is nothing to cure.
If you're a naturally shy, quiet person, that's your personality, part of you . You can only suppress your orientation, not change it.

And the world needs all the love it can get!
watchful38 11 months ago
@watchful38 -- Why would you blasphemize God by denying the way He made you? I feel so sorry for Catholics because they are so totally misguided in their beliefs. God created us as SEXUAL beings, so to deprive yourself of what it is to be human is the ultimate insult to God. Denying your sexuality is the disorder. Whether you are a priest or monk doesn't matter. Your deprivation doesn't help humanity in the least. It only harms you and insults God.

GayStraightOrTaken 1 year ago
The peanut analogy? I love it! Never heard that one before but it sure makes sense. It's interesting that gays will essentially claim to have a 'female' allergy and get steamed at bisexuals who happily do not suffer from any allergies. It almost seems that to be 'fully gay' some people have to pretend to have an allergy that they may not have (to women) just to join the gay religion/political party.

Having never encountered one before, by immediate reaction was defensive, it was like a nightmare incarnate was now talking to me. However, we have talked a lot more since then, and he has thrown alot of what I considered well established beliefs around.

"Judge not, that ye be not judged." — Matthew 7:1
ross613 1 year ago
@ross613 You use much prejudice in your apparent assumption in believing I have "unquestioning adherence to church doctrine" Know this that I do not go to any church. I study, read, pray, and try to comprehend the mysteries of god by myself for myself. I believe that you have misconstrued the meaning of that verse for it was used by jesus to explain spirtual matters not justify your personal view of a matter.
x2Ice2x 1 year ago
@ross613 Behold!<--meheheh "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:" "and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of women, burned in their lust one toward another; men ith men working that which is unseemly, and recieving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. Do you not clearly see in romans 1 verse 26-27 that which clearly states being gay is wrong? Hell is upon the gay
x2Ice2x 1 year ago
@x2Ice2x Even were I to concede that the passage quoted were being correctly interpreted, in context (which I don't); the fact would remain that the Bible was written all but entirely (if not entirely) by men born of traditions which associated celibacy with spiritual purity. Thus the Bible is also an expression of certain cultural biases which may not apply and to which unquestioning adherence shall inevitably detract from the main messages - "thou shalt not be gay" least evident among them.
ross613 1 year ago
@ross613 I see...once you lost your points based upon bible verses you resort to blasphemy. Those verses are impossible to be misinterpreted as the wording is so strong it would be foolish to attempt to interpret otherwise. Please oh great and mostly knowing one grant me your opinion that seemingly is devoid of "cultural biases" so that i may further understand the verses that are found in romans 1 v 26-27 pray tell what they mean.
x2Ice2x 1 year ago
@x2Ice2x And somewhere towards the back Jesus points out that the old testement is obselete and to follow \him and him alone! Hence Matthew 7:1. On that note the bible was used as an excuse to exterminate the Jews the very people that wrote it! They killed Jesus remember. That single book has caused more wars, more genocide and human rights atrocities than any other piece of literature in human history all in the name of god written and interpretted by man! If this is truly gods word! KEEP IT!
swingingsafari007 10 months ago
@swingingsafari007 lol I was messing with ross in that comment. I doubt anything you just said can be proven and the only attempted genocide of jews that I can think of at the moment is Hitlers attempt. The human rights atrocities and your claim at any other piece of literature in human history can be disputed. The quran has also been just as effective at causing wars and genocide and human rights atrocities. The old testament is not obselote just the parts in which it defines sacrifice and sin.
x2Ice2x 10 months ago
@swingingsafari007 Romans btw is in the new testament not the old ;] Jewish people were persecuted because they were God's people. Many people who commit evil or are evil don't think they are...if they did kill jews they thought they were doing it because they had done wrong and not because they were God's people...Satan uses humans the same way God does except with less power.
x2Ice2x 10 months ago
@ross613 I almost pity your lack of understanding. It is you who art blind and your stupidity which decieves yourself. Who are you to tell me that you can talk of gods mind concerning who gets into heaven. Don't you know it will only be the ones who do as jesus said and love god with all your mind, your heart, and your strength and live by evrey word that proceedeth out of god which would mean the bible because it is gods word after all. Perhaps you should pray for understanding and love of god.
x2Ice2x 1 year ago
@x2Ice2x Um what? Actually it was me accusing you of pretending to know God's mind....I don't know where you got the idea I was somehow duplicating you. (I doubt I ever would.)
And call me "stupid" all you like. I'm not likely to feel at all insecure about my intellect when corresponding with you. ;)
ross613 1 year ago
@ross613 Yes it was you accusing me but absolutely no grounds can you be justified in doing so. I can accuse you of that based upon the fact that you have directly misinterpreted one of the verses and attempted to avoid two verses that are spoken from one of Jesus diciples and remember this Jesus prayed for 12days and nights to decide who would be his diciples. You insult God by telling us that the bible has cultural biases. The bible is a conduit used by God to speak to we as a people.
x2Ice2x 1 year ago
@x2Ice2x Misinterpret? Actually, that particular passage is pretty clear in its intent; and I've never heard anyone other than you attempt to twist its meaning to justify attacking homosexuality. And "attempted to avoid"? I hesitate to ask only out of fear you'll achieve some new level of crazy in your response: what are you talking about?
The Bible may indeed have been divinely inspired; but its contents and interpretation are varied amongst Christian churches & over time.
ross613 1 year ago
@x2Ice2x I have a lot of difficulty accepting the "Bible represents the spoken word of God" argument. I think it's a whole lot more than that and through its study one can better know and understand God. But I will not accept that God wishes harm to homosexuals, or the ridiculous idea that they will "fry in hell" for the manner in which He fashioned some of us. My read of the Bible suggests He'd have us believe almost anything other than that, in fact!
ross613 1 year ago
@ross613 The only reason you have difficulty doing so is because you don't seem to believe it. Its good to study the bible and whatnot but that is exactly what the pharisees and scribes did. So please try not to become what they were and simpily try to understand it for spirtual reasons. I never once said that God wishes us to harm them however it would be prudent not to try and evaluate the mind of God. I do believe from what one of Jesus's disciple's stated means that they will go to hell.
x2Ice2x 1 year ago
@ross613 That is almost like the do not judge parable. I really doubt that Jesus ever meant that verse to be anything other then a spirtual lesson. I think that if his disciple described them as an abomanation that they would be viewed in a much different light then an adultress would. So please do not try to equate that what is described in romans 1 v 26-27.
x2Ice2x 1 year ago
@x2Ice2x One additional thought I had on this subject I wanted to share centers on the story of Jesus stopping the stoning of an adulteress. In the story, Jesus challenges any in the assembled crowd who is without sin to case the first stone. Insodoing, he was breaking away from the scriptures which dictated stoning for such a crime. And as the only one there without sin, Jesus didn't stone the woman - which should make one pause about concluding the fate of gays, don't you think? (see John 8)
ross613 1 year ago
@ross613 IF you mean to say "that particular passage is pretty clear on ts intent" then you by your own words tell me that you agree that it says homosexuality is wrong. Yes I justify myself through that passage because it states that its wrong. Yes I agree various churches both "Catholic" and "christian" have made different interpretations of the bible...however I make my own based on what I read. Yes they make interpretations but I do not ever use theirs I only use mine.

uraine7626 1 year ago

How can u be an EX gay
1111bobbob 1 year ago
It is not as simple as Gay or Straight. I think a majority of people are in the gray area in between. A gay person can have sex with the opposite sex, and many of them do. The opposite is true, straight people can have sex with the same sex. But that is just because we are, generally, a bunch of Horn Dogs.
-
But the question isn't what CAN you do, but what do you want to do? Who do you want to have sex and fall in love with?
-
So, an exgay, could be someone in the gray area. It happens.

taterlikeatot 1 year ago

Its the attraction for the same sex that makes one gay.

both the Old and New Testaments condemn men lusting after either men or women and genital if not specifically anal sex between men (and between men and women outside of marriage wherein a man and a woman have been made on flesh ) - however lust is not love , and so one may be a male homosexual who loves another man and as long as he doesn't express this love by inappropriate sexual conduct, he hasn't violated a commandment in either testament:i.e. the Bible does not prohibit being gay per se

About Rewards In THIS Life
OH....I get it now...

While I'm on the subject of Paul.
It is pretty well accepted that Paul was a misogynist and a woman hater and some authorities believe that Paul himself was Gay. His attitudes toward women are obvious to anyone who reads his writings.

STUDY!!

John 13:23"Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved." asimpleinstrument homosexuality is men who love men and engage in physical intimacy - Jesus loved John and allowed John to engage in the physically intimate act of laying his head on Jesus' chest - while am not claiming that this indicates that Jesus had a homosexual relationship with John, nevertheless homosexuality is similar to the Bible's description of Jesus' relations with John
budnboston 2 years ago
That is the greatest stretch I've ever heard. Jesus is our (and John's) big brother in the family of God. Here's proof: Rom 8:29, "For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters."
It is not at all uncommon for little brothers who sit on their big brothers' laps to lean against their chest. John had a very strong brotherly love (a family love) -- not a lover's love as homosexuals share.
asimpleinstrument 2 years ago

Love your vids Scott.
Ponyboy924 2 years ago
If you would've known the Bible, you would've known the following:
1) We can receive rewards while we live: Luke 18:29-30, "Yes, Jesus replied, and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the Kingdom of God, will be repaid many times over IN THIS LIFE, and will have eternal life in the world to come.
2) God rewarded Solomon by making him the richest King in the history of Israel. This is in 2 Chronicles 1:10-12.
asimpleinstrument 2 years ago
The 10 Commandments were the Laws given by God to Moses for "His Chosen People" aka The Jews. They were never meant to apply to Gentiles. I am not a Jew therefore the 10 Commandments do not apply to me.
It's interesting that the religion is named "Christianity" but as Simple notes, the majority of the New Testament was written by Paul, and all the condemnations of homosexuality also came from Paul. Maybe we should rename the religion Paulianity and forget about Jesus.
Ponyboy924 2 years ago
Jesus said that the 10 commandments are kept by loving God and your neighbor.
Now, regarding Paul's version of the Gospel: read Galatians 1:11, "...I want you to understand that the gospel message I preach is not based on mere human reasoning. I received my message from no human source, and no one taught me. Instead, I received it by direct revelation from Jesus Christ. Paul received his instruction directly from Jesus Christ. So, what do you have to say now, sir?
asimpleinstrument 2 years ago

Not everyone who claims to be Christian is truly Christian:
matthew 7:22-23, "Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me..." 1 John 2:19, "They went out from us, but they did not belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us."
So, don't broad-brush Christianity with your opinions.
asimpleinstrument 2 years ago
Just because you've only known of one ex-gay who gets along with a gay doesn't mean that many more exist. It's not religion that creates a problem between ex-gays and gays, it's the lack of Bible knowledge. A true Christian does not judge non-believers (gays) and desires to show them the loving character of Jesus to them. Don't confuse fake Christians with true Christians.
asimpleinstrument 2 years ago
You implied that all non-believers are gays with that comment, and this is incorrect. Jesus said many things- none of which about homosexuality. The only parts of the bible that do talk about homosexuality condemn it, and call believers to stone us/murder us/etc.
big93scott 2 years ago
In Acts 20:35 The Apostle Paul tells us that Jesus said: "It is more blessed to give than to receive." Yet this statement is not found in any of the Gospels. Also, John wrote that there were many things Jesus did that were not recorded in the Gospels (John 20:30). What's my point? Just because the Gospels didn't record Jesus making any statements about homosexuals doesn't mean he never said anything about them. Jesus clarified things to the Jews, but homosexuality did not need clarification.
asimpleinstrument 2 years ago
Jesus did not need to clarify anything regarding homosexuals because the Old Testament was very clear on the issue. It was a sin and still is. The Apostle Paul made this abundantly clear. But if you eliminate Paul's writings, then get rid of the New Testament because Paul wrote a large majority of it.
asimpleinstrument 2 years ago
Exactly my point. The old testament makes it very clear, you should be stoning me by now. Are you not a "true christian?" For if you do not, based upon another quote from your bible, then you are openly portraying a contradiction within it.
big93scott 2 years ago
Your statement clearly proves that you have no true knowledge of Scripture. You are confusing Israel's civil laws with the moral law of God. There were 3 types of laws in the Old Testament: the civil, ceremonial, and moral. Jesus replaced the ceremonial laws with the sacrifice of His body (as the lamb) (Heb 10:8-10), and we are not living according to civil laws (e.g. stoning) of the ancient Jews, but have our own U.S. law that we follow (Rom 13:1-7), but keep the moral law (1 John 2:7).
asimpleinstrument 2 years ago
Keep the moral law indeed. I assume then that you are both sexist and pro-slavery? No? Curious, very curious.
big93scott 2 years ago
Again, you are doing what other frustrated atheists have done. Attacked my character instead of staying on the topics of debate, which BTW you are losing. No, considering how women were treated in ancient times, Jesus was BY FAR the perfect gentlemen toward them. I don't support slavery, but some slaves enjoyed their occupation back then. Now, it a person wants to be a slave, and "sells' himself, then that's their personal preference. Don't most people feel like "slaves" at their jobs? :)
asimpleinstrument 2 years ago
Actually I assumed you weren't sexist OR pro-slavery. Therefore no "attack" on your character was ever made.
big93scott 2 years ago
Let's see: you went from proving the Bible as being some book of fairy tales, and jump to question me? Are you not directing your attention to me and not staying on the topic being debated?
You assumed it, but you definitely implied it; let's be honest now... please? Again, you seem to be making yourself appear more foolish as this communication continues. But please, continue. :)
asimpleinstrument 2 years ago
Actually I branched from morality, which is one of the points you brought up. You claimed to use the old testament for morals, yet do not follow the sexist/etc. values it presents. What were you saying about reading ability? It is not the burden of the one denying the statement to provide evidence, when no evidence in favor of the statement has been provided without being shot down. Therefore, it is your duty to prove the bible is historically accurate, not for me to deny the contrary.
.
big93scott 2 years ago
For the third time, I say this regarding the O.T.: Christians consider the O.T. moral law (ten commandments) only -- not the cultural or civil values. Why is this so difficult for you to understand?
Alos, you cannot disprove God's existence so you put the burden on Christians to prove God exists. This is the oldest atheist trick in the book. This is truly ridiculous.
asimpleinstrument 2 years ago
"Jesus did not need to clarify anything regarding homosexuals because the Old Testament was very clear on the issue"
"Christians consider the O.T. moral law (ten commandments) only "
Keep talking, you will contradict yourself over, and over, and over...
big93scott 2 years ago
asimpleinstrument, maybe if you want to be taken seriously, you should NOT belittle Scott by calling him foolish, or inferior to your knowing (of the Bible) intellect. You ask not to be attacked on your character (which Scott isn't doing btw) yet you're calling him an outright ignorant fool. Try using decent debating guidelines and restrictions before accusing another of violation. :(
joshg123 2 years ago
The Bible says he's a fool, not me. Sorry, don't shoot the messenger. :)
asimpleinstrument 2 years ago
I wrote that this guy is attacking my character not because my feelings were hurt, or because I want to be taken seriously, but simply to prove that he's doing what typical atheists do when they find themselves losing in a debate like this one. The problem today is too many people are way too sensitive -- normal sensitive is ok, but getting hurt by words from a total stranger? Come on now...
asimpleinstrument 2 years ago
I have lost no debate, nor attacked anyone's character- as has been shown to you. Whenever I make a crucial interjection, you avoid it and instead quote the bible about some other portion of my comment; or, you accuse me of attacking your character- anything but answer the interjection. And I indeed see why, as you crossed all over yourself when attempting to address morality.

good video Scott, but I would be careful with that peanut allergy, while the pure metaphor is true, the human mind while hearing it will say that a peanut allergy is generally undesirable and unwanted by those who have it - we don't see any peanut allergy pride parades, now do we? lol. So to some it might hurt being a metaphor for being gay.
FTLNewsFeed 2 years ago
People with peanut allergies generally aren't opressed for having said allergy. So then are we to determine that the perfect human would be gay? Would the perfect human have a peanut allergy? The answer to those questions is undoubtably: no. While we accept ourselves as being gay, and being gay is completely natural, it is clear that it is a bump in the road. However, I believe it is a natural bump of evolution, as our population exceeds the limits of our planet.
big93scott 2 years ago
Oppression is usually a result of fear of the unknown, something that is evolutionary instilled in us to keep us alive, but to say that that means that the perfect person would be straight is to say that straight is the ideal, and gay is the faulty which evolutionary speaking is untrue (I believe asexual would be the ideal).
Also I believe the current evolutionary reasoning for homosexuality is that gay siblings would stay within the family and raise the young, helping the genes to survive.
FTLNewsFeed 2 years ago
I think talking about "gay or exgay" is useless without a definition of what it means to be gay or straight. Someone can be gay who isn't gay if your definition is one of actions. The porn world is filled with "str8" boys who are "gay for pay." These boys IMO are not "Str8" but they do have sex with women and they indicate that they're "hardwired" for being str8, hence, "gay for pay."
But there are also all the guys that I've gotten close to who are str8. What about them? So why not exgay
heraclitus44 2 years ago
There is no one genetic cause of being gay. But the fact is that some are undeniably only sexually satisfied by others of their own sex. And that this propensity is not easily understood but is almost certainly unchangeable in adulthood but it is still a choice to have sex not a choice what kind of sex you want tho.
What will happen when parents can choose there babies identities. Blond, blue-eyed, str8, 6 feet tall...? That is the question that is coming. Will gays be a dying species?
heraclitus44 2 years ago
There are men who switch sides. 40 seems to be a magic number for men who have been str8 all their lives to suddenly become gay. I've met several guys who claim never to have even dreamed of another dude and now they are gay!!! YAY!!
And I've met one guy who was gay and all of a sudden became str8. What is going on here?
I've also met str8 boys who when pursued will give it up but if they were never pursued they would be just str8. What's with that?
heraclitus44 2 years ago
Excellent point about living a lie!
Terrible analogy "being gay is like a peanut allergy."??? LOL. I hope not. lol.
Ex gay ministries are a FARCE. People are sexual and want affection and love and acceptance. Sexuality is not an easy thing to understand.
heraclitus44 2 years ago
Considering it's an analogy I swear by, try elaborating a little more than "LOL." It does not analyse sexuality in itself, but rather sexuality's relation to the genetic make-up.
big93scott 2 years ago
Sorry if my LOL made you angry. It is funny(to me at least) that you compare being gay to something so very undesirable as an allergy. All kinds of analogies can be used and since Aristotle showed that all analogies are false both sides could go back and forth ad infinitum with analogies.
My point is that no two sexualities are the same. You say "it's genetics" but don't explain what genetics is. Sexuality's relation to genetics is very complicated.
heraclitus44 2 years ago
One genetic force may be responsible for one man's sexuality but another genetic force could be influential in another's sex make-up. To say "it's genetics" does not explain anything. Why is one identical twin "gay" and another is not?
heraclitus44 2 years ago
