That's an awesome song. I was playing that song in a club in 80's everry chance i got and people loved it. Although it was in a regional area, country fans, 50's rockers with of course the Disco era, lol, when new wave came around, most guys didn't feel comfy on wearing a different style, lol. But the music had a real modern and futurist hook, and it intrigued the masses, wherever they came from. This song fits right in to this era, and should be played in a major movie production !
fantastic - from Brazil- city Betim - state Minas Gerais, vila cristina neighborhood, knows where is it? 32666439 type in google earth, where for the music of you, has no idea, R.I.P Rob Fisher, never be forgotten
I don't understand why 80's groups like NAKED EYES, DOUBLE, THOMAS DOLBY, SWING OUT SISTER and LEVEL 42 (amongst others) hadn't a greater impact on pop culture. They are (musically) so much better than the most of the things which are praised now and then (Nirvana, Oasis, Police, U2, etc....)
RINLEW, I think the reason that they didn't have a larger impact is because their music was more complicated (in a good way) than the likes of Nirvana etc. The record, radio, and MTV execs. want simple music for what they feel is simple minded people. They feel "complicated" bands won't sell as well. Better to sing about pimps, ho's, gangsters, drinking, and doing drugs. Mind numbing things like that sell better to the masses. This is just my theory of why it is the way it is.
I like your analysis but I would add that those people that you mentioned are not pushing their mind-altering pablum just for money. My belief is that at the highest levels these cretins are promoting an agenda. Simply put, they are creating docile, unthinking, drones that are incapable of creative and intelligent thought! Music and popular entertainment are the chosen vehicles of delivery for this poison. Great music will never be promoted they want filth filling the airwaves IMO.
