I think Military only learns martial arts as a morale building/confidence/mindset exercise. Wars aren't fought hand to hand...Anymore. Martial arts just has a place in the military culture. Even special forces who i guess would be more exposed to close encounters...their job would be confront and kill from an advanageous position. If you have to fight unnarmed...you must've done something crazy-stupid.

I have a lot of respect for our US Army Rangers and their training but, one thing I would like to know is do they practice these same ground fighting concepts with full kit on? because when you're in the field with all your gear and ammo, then does it makes any sense. I know the Gracie family proved themselves but in the beg. not many knew worked on a ground game so no wonder they dominated. That's just my opinion. I just wld like 2 c it done but I don't think 1 could last very long that way

-The key is to constantly use your hips to turn your body (or just move normal if you're on top) sothat 1 opponent is always between you and the other. This makes it so you can effectiveley fight only 1 guy at a time.
-MMA is the best, and standup is important. Against an untrained fighter though, grappling is the cheapest most effective thing there is.
I'd just like to add for the people reading that stand-up is good to have but if you find you don't have it and you get into a fight. Stay out of range and wait for an opportunity where you can clinch up, then headbutt, then knee to groin, takedown and violla now he's in your territory.

Combat Jujitsu looks good but what was wrong with the form Army Hand to Hand combat systems? I looked at them and the FM 21.150 or FM 3-25.150. I'd say one of those two are better for the rangers just because you don't want to spend time trying to get a submission hold when you could snap there neck. I'd say learn the basics of jujitsu and keep the old system fluent. Better styles for Rangers would be Krav Maga, or Haganah, or Lotar, or Jeet Kune Do if they want to add something.
Like the guy said, how do you know that move will break a person's neck? And on the battlefield these gys aren't out for the tap, they're going to break an arm then kill or choke a person to death. Krav is great, but only against armed people, it's not good for a ground fight.
FORCERECON, US Rangers, US Spec Forces, CCT/Pj's and the members of Navy UDT's all have different and specialized missions. Many of the skillsets crossover into different units and branch's of service, but to try to compare which unit is better, is like comparing apples and oranges. No unit can accomplish a mission better than the unit trained for that mission. So the lip service is neither here nor there.

The person on top has tremendous leverage to control and defend against the person on the bottom's attempts to his groin.
Just try it, mount on top someone and ask him to reach for your groin. You'll find it incredibly easy to trap his arms and punch his unprotected face

I'd say learn the basics of jujitsu and keep the old system fluent. Better styles for Rangers would be Krav Maga, or Haganah, or Lotar, or Jeet Kune Do if they want to add something.

Like the guy said, how do you know that move will break a person's neck? And on the battlefield these gys aren't out for the tap, they're going to break an arm then kill or choke a person to death. Krav is great, but only against armed people, it's not good for a ground fight.

FORCERECON, US Rangers, US Spec Forces, CCT/Pj's and the members of Navy UDT's all have different and specialized missions. Many of the skillsets crossover into different units and branch's of service, but to try to compare which unit is better, is like comparing apples and oranges. No unit can accomplish a mission better than the unit trained for that mission. So the lip service is neither here nor there.

You'll realize that Rangers that have gone through Ranger School are a whole nother bread of soldier, but more importantly you'll realiz that comparing who is better and criticising forces of your own country is pointless and that they all have their own unique worth in their respecitve areas.

Rangers are hard as hard can be tho ,..Ok,..121 in my R.I.P. class, 19 of us graduated....500 some in Ranger School...13 of us passed with no recycles or no go's....the 2 Navy Seals we had dropped out in city week (the first week, as heat victims)....the Marines from Recon, studied and focused. Delta?...The smartest of the most extreme scary fuckers you will ever meet..scary guys to a scary guy...I spent a couple weeks in Bragg at their compound, I know..don't kid yourself...but..be proud
