  • Man that huber sounds good.

  • @bigmrclean INCREDIBLE is the right word... :D

  • looks like i will be getting this lesson! GREAT!

  • I think Jim Mills and Bill Evans are becoming my favourite.

  • Anyone know what the third part of this video is? What song is that?

  • @jackcrees

    It's Ground Hog

  • Awesome work Acutab

    Great video. :)

    Much love Kat

  • i wish i was cool enough to play banjo

  • Am I hearing a little too much Doc Watson here? It's very good. Don't get me wrong. The problem with Doc Watson is that he does not (as every other musician in the world does) break his rhythm pattern. If you're not as talented as Doc Watson, you will bore your audience half to death with the tediousness of that unrelenting 2/4 (or is it 4/4?) beat. Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed this clip. It's a great sound.

  • Hey folks, if any of you loved this brief video of Jim's style, than you need to visit my channel and watch my videos! They contain material not shown here that Jim did in the studio with some fantastic banjo picking, and I think you will be pleasantly SURPRISED with the presentation! You will deffinitely want to go get one of his CDS for your own after watching my vids!! ENJOY!!

  • any of you interested should pick up Jim's Bound To Ride album which has all 3 of the songs in this video and some other pretty good songs too. It's a great record for anyone wanting to learn or hear some top notch banjo.

  • Rock solid Scruggs stuff with a twist, excellent!!!

  • Jim Mills is TRULY one of the greatest!

Thank you acutab for posting this.

    Banjoistically yours,

    Jon Eric

  • jim mills signed my banjo. =)

    hes amazingg.his pickin' style

    is awesome!!!

  • he is probably my favorite banjo player.

he can play anything, guitar, dobro, banjo.

    anything. he is the best

  • How old is Jim Mills? Just curious.

  • He's awesome, that's how old.

  • he's gotta be in his middle 40's i'd say.

  • Excellent instructional DVD. Don't just look at these clips, spend the money to get the whole thing. Jim starts easier and moves onto more difficult - the DVD is well assembled. Go for it!

  • Hes pretty damn good

  • that pickin definitely makes me wanna shoulder up my gun and call out the dog

  • Cleanest and strongest picker going!

  • yea me and my buddies argue about who's better, Shelor or Mills. To me Mills has got it. Shelor kicks tail. But I love Jimmy's picking best.

  • idk. sammy is pretty good in my eyes. the thing about sammy is he plays in more than just the usual 4/4 timing and 3/4 timing even in those kind of songs, he adds different timings to certain licks. makes them unique. its all personal as to who the best really is tho

  • yeah cant go wrong stickin with a lot of the old school scruggs stuff!

  • GROUNDHOG!!!!

  • I love Jim's take on Ground Hog. Now THAT is how a banjo should sound.

  • I agree with you about his take on Ground Hog. Jim and Earl have such good taste, timing and tone, that they even make the slower and simpler songs sound like gold. Kind of reminds me of Earls break on "no mother or dad". Slower picken but ever note gets the attention it deserves.

  • suggests that more would be helpful indeed. Thanks
