This is by far--in my opinion--the finest, most lyrical performance of this piece on YouTube! Hamelin manages to separate the various moods so well. This is just a wonderful musical experience! I wish Hamelin could perform MY sonata!

This is a really good performance, but I still prefer Vladimir Horowitz's. Horowitz really digs into it, especially at the end. It gives me the chills. Hamelin plays the octaves in the last few bars like it's a race.

Stunningly beautiful and astonishingly incredible technique. This is way harder to play than Scarbo. Whoever was playing this nailed it and then some. A milestone definitive recording. Hats of to the player.
