One of the first times I went down in 2000, the guide made of point of not letting go of the "T" (handle) of the paddle at any time. Some clueless chick in the boat in front of us let go of the "T" and the guy behind her paid the price. He had to be taken to the hospital for stitches to his face. It's a blast to go down the river but when the guides are giving safety instructions, they're not just doing it to hear themselves talk. Adventures Unlimited is the best company I've used.
