I know your trying to make a point and everything but... Why open carry? It is easy to get a concealed carry permit and I believe that it is safer.
When someone open carries, they are letting everyone around them know that it is on their waist. Someone with bad intentions or someone who doesn't know the law could try to take the gun from you and use it against you. I think it is better to keep it concealed and avoid trouble. But, I think you might enjoy the attention. To each his own I suppose.
I don't know...I don't have a criminal mind, It appears that you just want to debate. So for the sake of debate; by carrying a firearm openly, a crime was prevented. If enough trained law abiding citizens excersize their right to carry a firearm, a lot of crime will be deterred. That's good enough for me. You can say "what if" till you're blue, but you won't change that fact.
Look, if you're against it, don't own or carry a firearm...rely on the police to protect you and good luck.
I do rely on police to protect me, because I am a law enforcement officer, and I protect myself. I have also worked in a prison and see that these criminals don't learn lessons. I support the right to open carry, but I just don't see why people should open carry in heavily populated areas when they could just as easily get a concealed carry permit... If criminals knew that more people were carrying concealed, than would criminals be even more afraid? I'm just trying to understand the benefits.
I, like you, rely on myself. When seconds count, cops take minutes or longer. My state does not allow open carry, I am liscensed to carry CCW and have many hours of formal defensive tactics training and hundreds of hours of practical range experiance. I prefer to carry CCW but there are times when I would carry open if law permitted.
To each his own. To discuss further would be repeating myself.
I really wish citizens could rely on Cops to protect us but you know that's not possible.
I'm very pro-second amendment, but each business should be allowed to set the rules for their own property. The building is their property, not yours. It's their business, not yours.
If somebody doesn't feel safe going into a store that doesn't allow guns, then that person should go down the street to another store.
For example: view your own video about the restaurant owner painting her building yellow. You're on the correct side of that argument, but the wrong side of this one.
True, but you can also peacefully demonstrate your views towards a business practice. Personaly, I don't think that protests work, but that's just me.
If people are settling price disputes with guns, they are nut jobs. All other law abiding citizens who carry into a supermarket are just being curious.

I've found that carrying a pistol really helps in pricing disputes at the supermarket;I save a shitload;my hand starts to drift downward to my firearm and that minimum wage cashier doesn't really think that extra 10 cents on toilet paper is so important.
Stop and Shop does have property rights. They also are only in business because of their customers. Patrons who value their own safety, and who voluntarily choose to shop at local businesses that don't demand that their customers are defenseless.
An armed society is indeed a polite society.
What about the tens of thousands of people who carry concealed?
Will they frisk everyone at the door?
Do you think those getting TSA treatment will ever come back?

Question..would a criminal with intentions of robbery be deterred by the sight of armed man in the business they were preparing to hold up?
Statistics show that criminals are more afraid of an armed citizen that of the police.
jonnynocksville 2 years ago 2
Sure. But then wouldn't he just go to a different store? I doubt seeing one person with a gun on their hip would change them from being a criminal.

Also, I'm not saying no one should own or carry firearms... That is 100% against what I believe.

True a store can set its own rules and if I don't like them I can vote with my money, my feet and my mouth.

This pisses me off more than anything when it comes to 'propertarians'.
YES. WE KNOW THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO DO WHATEVER THEY WANT ON THEIR OWN PROPERTY.
No one is disagreeing with you there. You don't have to repeat this mantra every god damn time someone has a problem with a private establishment.
However, people also have the right to make their voices heard about a private establishment's business practices. Get over it.
