Actually that beginning riff was written by Mustaine, as was much of the rest of the song, which is why mustaine uses the same chords 0:46 at the beginning of hanger 18 . It's very similair to the style he uses at the beginning of "my last words" "black friday" "in my darkest hour" and "diadems".
