Can Someone Please explain to me WHY the oil companies would drill more and lower the price of oil? What's their incentive to "drill baby drill"? Their profits are the highest ever now, why would they lower them?
And even if they did, Why would they sell the oil just to us? it's a world market to the highest bidder, we can't stop importing oil unless we MAKE them only sell to us. It's a farce!
The Nazis wouldn't have asked these Arab nations to grab us by the scrotum and shake it. You want America to look weak by having it cry and whine to foreign nations for oil? Let's tap into the pipeline and stop being less dependent on foreign nations for oil.

We can do both. My ultimate hope is that one day we won't have to depend on oil anymore. As a republican I support nuclear energy as well. I am aware of Three Mile Island and Chernobyl, but look at France they use nuclear energy and it serves them very well.
But why do both? We have, and have had for many years, the technology to replace fossil fuels with alternative energy to for example cars. This is an excellent opportunity NOT to drill for more but to switch over to environmentally friendly, and cheaper energy. The only loosers will be the already rich republicans who make lots of money from lobbying for the oiicompanies to drill more and shouting "drill baby drill" to crowds of conservative nonprogressive morons like ureself. Plus conservatives have a far better track record in regards to the environment than liberals do. If it wasn't for T.R. (who was a Republican) we wouldn't have all the national parks that we do. Richard Nixon signed the EPA into action and President Bush (Herbert Walker) signed the Clean Air Act into law as well.
Well the answer to the first question I thought was obvious. Two reasons: 1. The oil companies are doing everything they can to prevent it from happening. In my country for ex, a big US oil company bought up a company that made solar driven cars and then dismantled it. 2. Paradigmshifts need some kind of big push to happen. Wether its a financialcrisis or a war. Thats whats hapenin now. US managed to put put a man on the moon in a decade when the technology was really half a century away.
However, as for solar power, the technology is already there, and is improving every day with nanotech etc. There are discussions in the eu of building a huge solarpanel field in the sahara which would give all of europe all the energy it would need. Surely u must see this is a better way to go than "drill baby drill". Its cheaper energy and would also be beneficial for both your economy, health and environment!
Ps. As I remembered it a certain George Bush didnt wanna sign the Kyoto treaty.
