I'm not a big fan of the mullahs, but I went to university in Iran during Khatami's time.

We would take part in pro-democratic demonstrations all the time. How come I or anyone I knew never got tortured?!

khatamis time was a period of moderate govt in iran. from about 1997 until about 2005 when elections were rigged and conservatives took over.

since then liberal professors have been purged from colleges and theres been alot of crackdowns.
