Its aat Pier Park now good i missed it the funnest but now i guess we can go 2 Alabama Adventure and Six Flags in Georgia and of course Alabama and more.
one of the worst parks ever. owner was a tightwad that overworked and underpaid his employees (i put up with the crap for one summer - great way to meet and bang chicks - but that was about it). was land-locked, could never get bigger.
what happened to this park, folks?i am from south wales,u.k and i love amusement parks, but never visited this one,how long was it open and when did it shut?
i hope the next hurricane that come through i hope it blows away those stupid condos i hate condos they have ruined pensacola beach and the rest of florida
@seadog1988 yep. your right. i remember also in the 70's my father told me ill appreciate Johnson's Beach being partly made into a national sea shore and he has been so right. i could not believe all the condos that are obstructing a once pristine beach. sad........
I saw this last yr. on my first vacation with my fiance and his family. Him and his family couldn't even look at it. It just makes them sick and sad. :(
smaller parks is finding it hader to compete with Disney, 6 Flags, Cedar Fair, LLC which between all 3 owns 100% of the amusement park enterprises. It is a shame. Me and my friends with major investors was I should say will still talk and re-open an abandones park. what one cant say.
Oh shutup. You're not psychic and I'll save you the suspense. Your "partner" is not psychic either. It's just a heap of forgotten garbage that the city has yet to clean up. Without anyone even telling you too, you think you should somehow be mystified by all of this. This is a dumb form of conditioning you suffer. It's junk, simple as that.
Well you know, theme parks requires a lot of money for maintenance and upkeep. You can't blame the owners and investers for shutting it down, because people were no longer atracted to this park anymore. it could also be the fact that the park was so old, it costs more money t just shut it down then to fix everything to code.
Ya it's sad to see something like this go to waste, but I'm sure there will be someone coming along to either fix this or replace it with another park. :)
actually, the park suffered a decline in visitors after 9/11, but was slowly regaining its popularity, which is why Miracle Strip's closure was such a shock. The park was making a comeback. One reason was the Larks simply wanted to bow out of the Amusement Park business and a slimy real estate company bought the park.
I went to MS one time when i was a teenager. I don't remember much except i thought that i was on a REAL rollercoaster, lol. I will be going back to PC this weekend for the Framing Hanley concert.
This is really sad! I went there many times when I was a teenager.. Loved the Haunted House and the buzzer/blower on the stairs when you left! RIP MS!
Well, if there ever was a time for some park chain or millionaire entrepreneur to resurrect MSAP, it would be now. Starliner is up for sale again. Wouldn't it be a cool homecoming for the old girl if Miracle Strip were to re-open, with Starliner back where she used to be.
New owners took it over and are looking for ways to gut the historic Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven, FL so they can sell the land. Atleast that's what it seems they're doing. Landsouth (the new owners) are land developers after all.
Pretty much what Woodencoasterfan said. Cypress Gardens is about to become a Waterpark with Gardens and Ski shows just so they can say "We're returning the park to its roots".
However, Its now March and nothing has been done. I guess that's a good thing for now because Starliner is still intact.
@burnlikestars1 Cypress Gardens closed and was bought out by LegoLand. The decided to keep the Triple Hurricane, but not the Starliner. The Starliner has been officially bought by Miracle Strip @ Pier Park and they are working to have it brought back and rebuilt, but on a new site, hopefully where they put up the other former rides. Check out their Facebook page for more details.
it really breaks my heart that mircale strip is no longer around. i loved riding the o2 tower, roller coaster, abominable snowman, the log ride and the ride thru haunted house. the arcade they had was one of the few arcades i knew of that had the original pac-man. i went twice during their last year. i was going to go one last time and take some pics, but i left to head out there and i was groggy and did not want to fall asleep behind the wheel. now i wish i would have went anyways. oh well.
went there every year for 21 years with my family and it's just not the same without it...The arcade that used to be in front of it on the strip that you could enter through is gone too...so sad.
I shot it really quick with a digital camera, Ive since picked up a digital video camera so I hope I get a chance to get back there, I'll make a legitimate video.
i live there and we used to go there all the time soo i still have a scrap book of my pics from it but we still have putt putt, go carts, and ship wreck island!!
So sad they sold this to some millionare condo company, but they all went bankrupt.... bastards
