  • I'm currently working on a college paper which consists of conducting a national survey asking the general public who do you think has a bigger penis? Jay Leno or Dave Letterman?

  • @supafly345 Yes, he broke the format. What a horrible man!

  • Letterman rules is the best. Leno was/has always been a poser!!!

  • Back when Leno was funny...he played off of Dave pretty well, tho I can't help but wonder why Dave's wearing a prom tux and Jay looks like Michael Jackson in the mafia....

  • Leno had awesome jokes back then, dats why even tho Dave dont really like him he still gives him respect and said back in da day everyone wanted to be like Leno

  • So he just sits down and does his standup?

  • Leno was amazing back then! He owned the audience in every appearance on Letterman - and it these visits went a long way toward him getting the Tonight Show in the first place. Can't comment on his character now, but back then he was at the top, for sure.

  • Agreed, this is before he dumbed his humour down. He was a legend back then

  • jay leno scumbag

  • wow jay had flow back then. shit. what happened

  • @medialies100 Nothing. He's better than ever ebfore.

  • man, i was a huge dave fan back the (still am but don't watch religiously) and i LOVED it when jay came on. then he started doing these really unfunny comedy specials on nbc i think and by the time he took over the tonight show he'd totally lost it.

it's good to be reminded of just how funny jay used to be.

  • No I think he's just as funny, there's just different issues he jokes about now....which may not be too funny

  • Well I think we can all agree Jay was funnier back then. He really was a great comedian of his generation. As for the material seeming "staged". Back then good comedians had their material at the ready, you wanted to kill when you went on air. Look at old Carson shows with comedians like Rodney. Carson would set them up and let them go. Much like Letterman used to with Jay, but you could tell back then they were good friends. Too bad what happened with both of them. Neither is funny now

  • Its stupid, but I cant help thinking he looks like a young george clooney, I know its impossible...

  • I think when George Clooney hosted SNL once, he did a Jay Leno impression during a faux-Taxi Cab Confessions skit

  • this seems so prepared compared to today. it seems like leno memorized all his lines, anyone get that feeling?

  • well duh. It's called being a comedian doing actual material and is the reason Leno was the all-time best Letterman guest.

  • no ur misunderstanding, thats not what i said. i said, back then, leno's act seems to be more prepared and memorized than it is today.

if you watch leno today, it would feel like hes coming up with shit on the spot, it doesnt feel artificial like this. still hilarious, nevertheless.

  • probably years and years of practice?

  • naw--he just seems funny, actually, and with something of an edge.

  • HOW OLD IS THAT STORY HUH?! LOLS

  • woman vice president wow.

  • crap i accidentally rated 4 stars i meant to rate 5 though.

  • Exact date was August 16, 1984 for anyone interested

  • Dave's two bests guests during this period were Jay Leno and PeeWee Herman. Jay and Dave always got each other in stitches, and Jay is obviously ad libbing some of his material here (i.e. not all "canned").

  • This is the only clip of Leno being funny I've seen on youtube. I can't seem to find any more of his stand-up

  • Yeah. Leno was funnier back then.

  • when i think of the tonight show vs late night show..this video just shines the light on the differences between them, dave is stiff, jay is ...funny. it seems to me he was funnier back then . and gracious too:p

  • Letterman stiff..but a fast thinker and more spontaneous... Leno is all prepared

  • @silverdisciple My cock is stiff.

  • @DirrrtyHands Good one..

  • This would have been between July and November, 1984, when Ferraro was running for vice president.

  • hey thnx for posting this. Do u have the last time Jay Leno was on David letterman show? i think it was in 93?
