F'in love this film, the music and best opening ever. I was eveb thinking of writing tv series script for a modern version of it :P I can't find any replica jackets anywhere, I think I might have to make one myself, it'll look cool in my room framed ;P
Chicago has all the real Big gangs today. Man, imagine a sequel for this film that could have come out in the early 80's where the Warriors took on Chicago!!!! The East Side Disciples would have had their hands full!!! The Errol Flynns, 8 Mile Sconys, and Pony Down would have been side by side with The Warriors!!! Would have been a crazy film!!!
Remember the Michael Jackson video "Beat It"? Chances are the director of the music video drew his inspiration from the opening montage sequence of The Warriors!!!
@baldassaredegenes Right, I think I've discovered what song I thought I meant 3 months ago. It was by Roger Sanchez - Another Chance. It's hard to describe, but it there's an element of the background music which reminds me of the intro music.
I was 9 when I went to the movie theatre in NYC to see it with my parents and little brother. The wonder wheel kept me going and the rest, well...history in the making as we all know it! Subways in NYC...like no other!
This is actually the best opening for any movie EVER!!! Get yourself a copy of this track and listen to it while you walk...I promise you'll be strutting like a warrior within 5 secs...it's impossible not to!
@anthonyjohnsayer I have a vintage boombox and I would blast the soundtrack walking around in my small town. Everyone always stared and looked disgusted but I didn't give a shit. I used to do it every summer, I should blast it this summer as well.
The song is simply titled 'Theme from The Warriors' by composer Barry de Vorzon. The CD Soundtrack is available on Amazon for $7.97. It's also available for download on Apple I-Tunes for $9.99.

I bought this on DVD but they added some comic book shit breaking up the scenes. Totally ruins the style of the film.

I'm sure the theme was resampled by Daft Punk or someone like that in a song recently. I can't remember the track, but it sounds like it.
