193hp@6500rpm and 212 ft-lb. torque @3000rpm from a turbocharged 1.2-liter engine. And add to that 40% less fuel consumption than a typical engine with the same amount of power. Quite impressive.
This 3-cylinder engine was developed by Mahle Powertrain, and achieves 120 kW, or 163 hp/liter. By cutting the displacement in half compared to a 2.5-liter displacement engine commonly used to power a mid-range car, fuel consumption is lowered by more than 20%.
Not exactly my type of engine, But, i am interested in all things that do wiht cars. My last name is Mahle so i guess cars run in my veins. Now I'm only 15 but one day i want to learn and work with the Mahle industry
Hi Next time show us "rumble & combustion knock" i met some trouble with malhe 's piston ....i'm test bench driver, we use your products ....i abuse just a little , Malhe is a nice brand ! i can send u pistons accident 's pix , Thx for the vidéo
They are the same thing (rocker arms). The only difference is whether the pivot point is in the middle of the rocker arm or to one end of it.
The question actually ought to be why not ROLLER rockers. The friction is worse than with bucket tappets under cam because the rocker arm acts as a lever in favor of the valve return spring, granting it mechanical advantage over the camshaft. Unless the pivot point is in the middle of the rocker arm and both its arms are equal.
The three (triple) cylinder engine has the best balance factor of any engine configuration. Remember the old Triumph 750 Tridents, then the Kawasaki two-stroke triples and recenly, the new Triumph 675 Daytona.
hello, can you text me in a private message, where can I download this screensaver please? thank you

I don't get it. It just looks like a weird dual overhead cam inline 4-stroke... how is this different?

very cool design. what program did you use for the modeling and animation and simulation?

rocker arms why??

good question

Actually it's called " Schlepphebel " (in german) in this case. I think rocker arms are not the same "Thing ".
Rocker arm is called " Kipphebel ".
Anyway, it's a very good solution to minimize friction. Much better than Hdraulic lifter !!!
And yes! Mahle is the piston you need...

I just wonder how you timing the three cylinders to minimize engine vibration.

That's simply bullshit. Engine balance with a 3 pot inline is worse than with a 4 pot inline.
