The US isn't controlling a single oil field in Iraq and hasn't since the War began, besides temporarily militarily. The US has seen huge increases in the price of crude since the beginning of the war in 2003 which would be impossible if we had hundreds of millions of barrels flood the market. The US gave the oil to the Iraqi's to help rebuild their country. We didn't even pay ourselves let alone steal it!!

Whoever thinks the Iraq war was about oil is either dumb or willfully blind to the facts. The US isn't controlling a single oil field in Iraq and hasn't since the War began, besides temporarily militarily. The US has seen huge increases in the price of crude since the beginning of the war in 2003 which would be impossible if we had hundreds of millions of barrels flood the market. The US gave the oil to the Iraqi's to help rebuild their country. We didn't even pay ourselves let alone steal it!!

Is there any question the Iraq war had to do with oil? Yes there were other motives but, would we have gone and fought the war (all of it 1 and 2) if there was not oil in the Middle East? No we would not have we have and continue to watch dictators kill their people on a regular basis all the time. Keep in mind oil is a National Interest, we need it so we insure the stability of the region to some extent, as we should.

Liberals love to say one of two things: either the the war was fought for oil or Bush lied about WMD to get revenge for daddy. I say the war was fought because Saddam had violated 17 UN resolutions in the 12 years since the cease fire in 1991, which was conditional upon Saddam's cooperation with the UN. Couple that with suspicion that Saddam had WMD along with nuclear ambitions less that 2 years after 9/11 and the risk Saddam posed had become intorlerable. The world is better off without Saddam.
