I've worked in live newscasts and this is the director yelling, not the producer. And yes, this kind of tension is commonplace in this environment. What I don't understand is how in the world his mic is getting on-air unless whomever is running the audiobooth did it on purpose.

Contessa Brewer was a total pro. Once, when the writer made an error that she read on camera, I popped her an email (I used to work in the biz). She mailed back inside of 30 minutes and said, "You're right--gotta watch that!"
Also: Leanne Gregg was a local reporter in Springfield, MO, when I lived there; I had some contact with her and her station's sports guy when I was a sports info director for a local small college. Very nice, very professional. (Weird--another classmate who did local news there, Erin Hayes, also went on to a national network.)
They could have told him he was live on T.V. but if he was my boss and he treated his staff this way I would not have told him either. What a pillock.

The electoral choice here is between right and extreme right, by any objective standard--and the extreme right can't _stand_ the fact that the Junior Varsity Corporate Party (the Democratic Party) isn't far _enough_ right.

I work in the Audio/Visuals field and I know what its like when shit goes wrong during a show. I could only imagine what live TV must be like.
To me, he obviously didn't know there was a live mic near him where he could be heard but he might have been yelling because sometimes, the techs aren't paying attention when they should be and they're just fooling around on the Clearcom headsets.
