@frgyht - - reactive armor is overrated anyway. I'd rather be behind a proper hull/turret design with a Chobham derivative myself. It can at least take more than one hit in the same area. Detonation shields or skirts also outperform 'reactive' armor and again don't necessarily require a trip to the service department just cause you've taken a hit or two.
@frgyht mini1988 is right America has taken on nations that were unable to provide air cover let alone AWACS or GPS targeting , against say the Russians or Chinese it would come down to a tank on tank fight and that would leave it to the skill of the commanders and battlefield conditions . im a challenger 2 crewman and from my experience its the crews of a tank that can make up for failed design or enemy with better tech and from my experience in mordern combat ive only been in a tank on one tour in iraq since then weve used wheeled vehicles bar the vikings ive been on in afgan...we mostly use the mastiff now a six wheeled beast thats more adapted to hearts and minds cos the less damage you do in another mans land the less needs rebuilt when the fightings over...
Re-skinned T-72 that has the hability to perform several donuts. This special feature allows the tank to be destroyed just like a T-72 with the turret popping out 50 feet in the air, while performing said donuts. @RiccardoTheBeAst Well, it'll probably stay the same at fire power, being as it retains the same 2A46M main gun as used on the T-72 and T-80. This series of main gun has a bad reputation for ranged accuracy. It's the whole reason why Russia developed the ATGM, and the missile is the 9M119M Refleks which has a maximum range of 6km and is a tandem shaped charge weapon (needed to defeat ERA) and is reported capable of defeating up to a maximum of 950mm of RHA.
@Failcard I'm not saying that T-90MS is superior than M1A2, but some features are really new and more modern than in many other tanks (also M1). Look at the 45min interview ;)
The real problem is that you're still comparing old/foreign equipment with the russian one. The T-90A uses the 2A46M-2 gun and T-90MS uses the 2A46M-5. Those are modernizations of the 2A46M. Anyway, yes, the T-90 is a "stop gap" but not as horrible as painted by people :)

@RiccardoTheBeAst This modernisation is desperately required, as Russian tanks still lack Battlefield Management Systems, modern NATO rounds like the M829A3 can penetrate the Kontakt-5 ERA armour and even the Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov admitted in 2008, that some T-90’s still lack effective night vision sighting equipment.
And its believed that the T-90 will remain in service until 2025, which implies that it's only a stop-gap tank, like the T-64 series. Therefore, inadequate.
@RiccardoTheBeAst The "Iraqi T-72" were licensed Polish T-72M1s. Being as the Iraqi's had the arms embargo, they never got their T-72s from Russia, but from Poland. Otherwise they would have bought T-80 kits rather then T-72 kits.

@armydude162 The T-90 is essentially just a heavily upgraded T-72. In fact the initial designation of the proptotype was T-72BU, it was renamed the T-90 after the embarassing annihilation of thousands of T-72s in desert Storm.
Its a decent tank, certainly not the best, but cheaper than its better counterparts: far cheaper than the Abrams or the leopard 3. Initially, it was a disater, with failing engines (T-90S models sold to India were returned as defective) but this has largely been fixed.

@frgyht - - reactive armor is overrated anyway. I'd rather be behind a proper hull/turret design with a Chobham derivative myself. It can at least take more than one hit in the same area. Detonation shields or skirts also outperform 'reactive' armor and again don't necessarily require a trip to the service department just cause you've taken a hit or two.

Re-skinned T-72 that has the hability to perform several donuts. Even within the series of the Leopard 2 the armour effectiveness has doubled since its first installment and let's not talk about new ammunition types, fire systems and optics.
It is not something you can see from the outside, the new russian tank is probably as much or more dangerous than an Abrams.

This series of main gun has a bad reputation for ranged accuracy. It's the whole reason why Russia developed the ATGM, and the missile is the 9M119M Refleks which has a maximum range of 6km and is a tandem shaped charge weapon (needed to defeat ERA) and is reported capable of defeating up to a maximum of 950mm of RHA.
The M1A1HA has 1320-1620mm vs CE.

The real problem is that you're still comparing old/foreign equipment with the russian one. The T-90A uses the 2A46M-2 gun and T-90MS uses the 2A46M-5. Those are modernizations of the 2A46M. Anyway, yes, the T-90 is a "stop gap" but not as horrible as painted by people :)

And its believed that the T-90 will remain in service until 2025, which implies that it's only a stop-gap tank, like the T-64 series. Therefore, inadequate.

The Black eagle tank was cancelled almost TEN YEARS ago, having never produced even a single full prototype (body, but no trurret). And that information comes directly from the former webpage of the now bankrupt Omsk Transmash, the company that designed it. NO experts said any such thing about it you LIAR, as the tank had not even been fitted with a design gun yet when it was cancelled. Stop LYING you little child.

And I was amused by your comment about 'all tanks of USSR'. There is no denying the T-90, now that all the problems have been fixed, is a good tank. But how about the T-80, now regarded by experts around the world as the worst tank in the modern world? Cancelled after humiliating design flaws were revealed in Chechnya, not only was the tank cncelled, but all future tanks based on that design, like the Black eagle, were cancelled as well.

@ARTURizTAGANA the T-90 is based on the T-54, which is a tank made in WWII, there are also very particular problems with the thermal imaging in the tank, not to mention that it struggles when firing on the move, for it does NOT have a gyro, unlike the M1A2, and Leopard

@armydude162 The T-90 is essentially just a heavily upgraded T-72. In fact the initial designation of the proptotype was T-72BU, it was renamed the T-90 after the embarassing annihilation of thousands of T-72s in desert Storm.
Its a decent tank, certainly not the best, but cheaper than its better counterparts: far cheaper than the Abrams or the leopard 3. Initially, it was a disater, with failing engines (T-90S models sold to India were returned as defective) but this has largely been fixed.

For trials in Arab countries passed a T-90 where there has not been Abrams and Leopard 2

Some of your comments about the T-72 are true, others are not, it doesnt matter. The T-90 is a decent tank, nowhere close to a match for the Abrams or Leo3, but then it was never supposed to be. Its cheaper, and easier to make.
Reliable? That why its engines universally failed and had to be replaced?

@ARTURizTAGANA why do you think there has not been any Abrams and Leopard2s? in the Arab countries plain and simply put how much Russian made equipment is there in the middle east? if something new came out it would have to be somewhat compatible to existing tech in the regions would you want a tank that isn't domestic or is in some way shape or form compatible with the existing tech in your country and to say the least if the Arabs are not train properly in tank doctrine then mute point.
