  • Can I make a decent gaming PC for about £750? One that would run recent games like Sonic Generations, Portal 2 etc at maximum settings and at 60+ FPS? Thanks.

  • @SolomonRacer It will definitely take some planning for that price due to the graphics card necessary to play games at those frames. A dual core Core i3 2100 CPU and low priced socket 1155 motherboard combined with a GTX 560Ti GPU would be great for games and still stay under budget. Also try AMD boards and CPU's. (AMD Phenom II X4 960T is $125 at the moment). A good quad core Phenom 2 makes an awesome low priced gaming system.

  • @ksstudios Awesome, thanks. I'll note those.

  • if your using sli/ crossfire wont it be too close together to suck in air? (im a noob sorry)

  • @crazychainsaw007 Two cards will definitely raise the temps a bit, but in a large case like this it isn't really much of an issue.

  • Do i need to buy a CPU and Video card that fits in the motherboard? Or do they all fit? REPLY FAST PLEASE!

  • @Veseh You have to make sure your CPU will fit in your motherboard. If you buy a socket 1155 board, then you need a socket 1155 CPU. The video card will be easier, a single card will fit in most motherboards but you have to make sure it will fit in the case you are using. Some cases don't have room for super long video cards.

  • what an awful case, but everything else is fine.

  • @kohit7 We did this video the week this case was released. After using it for a week, we decided to swap it out for a Corsair 600T (which we still recommend).

  • thanks, this video really helped with my first build

  • I hate to be negative and moan but that case and motherboard with that psu make it a very "messy" setup with alot more cables running around than Im used to. My pc I have one power cord going to the back of the pc and one HDMI lead going to my monitor and one cable going from the audio jack thats it. The psu power connectors on mine go straight from the psu so less wiring again. only sata cables etc required and cables 2 for fans.

  • Incredible, I just completed research and order of a new build and my origional parts list is nearly identical to this one. Aside from a couple minor mods including a bluray disc player, water cooler and Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 memory (16GB), HAF mid tower case it's exactly the same. I made most of the changes mentioned after my initial list was compiled. My cost $1410 not including software. I'd like to see the specs on this. :)

  • im not a troll im being serious, theres alot of news of the "7970" flagship AMD video card comming out January 9th do you think i should wait or get 6970 crossfires?

  • @Swagdaddy777 I would recommend getting one higher end card over two lesser cards in Crossfire. Two cards don't always scale properly, it all depends on whether the games you are playing take advantage of the second card.

  • lmao i like how the mobo has the made in chine written on it at 1:35

  • Hey man, i've recently gotten into PC gaming because i think it is better then xbox ps3 and wii and so on

and i just wanted to ask, what is the best possible gaming PC out there or that you can build. ... thankyou!

btw i dont have a budget.... so even if it costs 15 grand its okay

imjust interested in knowing and if im interested enough, ill probably buy or get someone to make one

  • The case is too much complicated I don`t like it

  • just curious but are u using an antistatic strap?

  • @matthewzz1997 No, I was not wearing one but I always make sure to ground myself to the case before touching any parts.

  • @VairrWasHere If you buy the retail boxed version it should come with a cooler. I used an after market one so that I could overclock the CPU.

  • MID range PC? hell no this is a high end! good.. u gave me an idea il get this case!

  • Im planning to build a new gaming computer and this has been recommended to me, but Im not sure. Can anybody help me?

RAM: Corsair Vengeance Blue 16 GB

    Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth P67

Processor: Intel Core i5-2500 3.3 GHz 6 MB LGA1155 Processo

Cooler: Corsair Cooling Hydro-Series Liquid CPU Cooler

    Power supply :TX 750 watts

Graphic Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 580

Case: Cooler Master HAF ATX Mid Tower Case, RC-922M-KKN1-GP

Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Black 1 TB

    And Windows 7 64 bit

  • @Welkubacca That's a great system. Very similar to our gaming build video. Be careful of the PSU though, the GTX 580 can use a lot of power at full speed. That 750W should be enough, but I would recommend a little higher output so it's not running that close to it's limit.

  • @ksstudios Would a Corsair CMPSU-850TX 850-Watt TX Series 80 Plus Certified Power Supply suffice?

  • @Welkubacca That would be a safer bet, plus it will leave a bit of room for upgrades later on.

  • @ksstudios OK, thanks for the advice.

  • 1500? Gtx 570? Thats high gaming machine

  • hey ksstudio , its me again , i have bought the sabertooth also ,

but i was wondering , do you need to use the brown sata connection on the motherboard for the harddrives specialy ? or can i use the black ones for the harddrive as well ?

couse i remember i had to disable the marvel storrage controller , and the ? JBM? controller in the bios , because it gave a error when i boot my windows up .

is this normal ? or do i have to replug my harddrive from the black sata to the brown sata ?

    TY

  • @petervisser1001 You can plug the drives into any of them, but the ports have to be turned on for them to work. If you turned the marvell controller off in the bios then those ports won't work. Also, don't change the SATA mode after the Operating system is installed (IDE/AHCI/RAID). Doing that will prevent the hard drive from booting.

  • @ksstudios ok , than its ok , :) ty for your help again , for the rest the system is running as smooth as a fish :)

  • Why do people keep saying this is high end? A 570 and 2600k is completely mid-range in my opinion... high end would be a 970x and tri or quad 580s, or even 590s.

  • I would of saved money, and got a cheaper non EVGA 570 and an i5 2500k, which in fact you loose a little bit of performance but you will save $150, and the performance can be made up by overclock, as in actual fact the i5 2500k's tend to reach higher clocks then the 2600k's and also the i5's run a little bit cooler having lower VID and no HT.... But in general this is an awesome mid range pc, in effect its a mid range price but high end performance, especially compared to previous generation.

  • lol how is this mid range?

  • if you filled up all 4 memory slots with the vengeance ram would the cooler master 212+ get in the way? please lmk, im planning on doing that, thanks!

  • @eyesz I would go with the Vengeance LP (low profile) if you plan to use all four slots. The fan on the Hyper 212+ gets dangerously close to the first memory slot and large ram sinks get in the way. You could also mount the fan on the other side of the heatsink and use it to PULL air through the fins. Not th ebest temps that way though.

  • So im really panicked... Does a case come with sound cards and stuff... Or do u need to buy things to play music

  • @MrShnuggleMuffins The case does not come with sound cards. Most motherboards will include some sort of on-board sound, You can also buy a seperate sound card and install it into the board if you want.

  • @ksstudios Thanks again... im kinda new to building

  • This case, corsair 600t or antec p193

  • @MrShnuggleMuffins This Raven case was replaced by the Corsair 600T. That case is much better, but I didn't have it at the time of the video because the special edition was not out yet.

  • @ksstudios K thanks very much... ill go pick up the 600t

  • this case sucks

  • Will there be some new videos soon?

  • @NightWolfEditing We will be building a gaming machine using the new Z68 board very soon, also planning on doing a Windows Home Server 2011 PC in the near future.

  • how come i cant see the motherboard?

  • This would run Skyrin BF3 Full Yes?

  • @ht448 Depends on what resolution you are running at. The GTX 570 is a great card, but you would probably need a GTX 580 to max out everything for a decent resolution monitor. Two of these cards in SLI would be ideal.

  • Raven RV03 doesn't have normal front USB headers does it?

  • @konic40 They do not connect to motherboard headers but instead have male USB plugs that connect directly to the back ports of the motherboard.

  • @ksstudios Isn't that weird though, what if I have a motherboard with USB3 headers? ...oh, then I probably have rear USB3, still losing 2 ports though

  • @konic40 I personally don't like this solution. It would have been nice to have the option to connect to a motherboard header.

  • I'm planning on getting this case, but I'm bit of a watercooling newbie, could you help me out?

Do you know if this case is big enough to hold the Rasa 750 RS360 watercooling kit, or even the Rasa 750 RX450?

Will that kit have brackets that work with the Intel Core i7 on an Asus Rampage III Extreme motherboard?

    Thanks for your help!

  • @RashidulThePlumber According to SilverStone, the Raven 3 can hold dual or triple radiator kits so both will fit. Those kits CPU water blocks both support socket 1366 and should work with that motherboard.

  • @ksstudios Man, I appreciate you taking the time out to answer my question. You don't even understand how much you've helped me out.

  • @RashidulThePlumber

Dude this is one of the best aircooled cases you can buy, not for water cooling. The HafX will suit your water cooling needs more efficiently>

  • strange case you got there...

  • I am done building my new computer but I am having a issue with my motherboard or cpu. I have Intel 2600k CPU with a stock intel cpu. I am getting CPU fan error when I boot up. The fan is running and it will go to the bios. I don't know what to do? I think it is bad installation.

  • @SHOCK426 Make sure the CPU fan is plugged into the motherboard header marked "CPU fan". If it is, then check the bios to make sure the problem isn't with the fan speed monitor. Sometimes the bios will alert if a slower CPU fan is used and the speed can be adjusted to a lower number.

  • You should have threaded the front USB cables through the grommeted holes at the top (next to where they come out of) then you can plug them into the USB3.0 on the motherboard itself, freeing up the space on the I/O shield in case you need them later on.

(No point plugging an external USB port into an external USB port)

  • @d3agl3uk The Raven 3 case doesn't come with an internal USB 3.0 header to connect straight to the board which is why we had to run it out the back. This design is how early USB 3.0 was integrated into cases. Most manufacturers are now including a direct header.

  • @ksstudios Some motherboards have an usb 3.0 bracket so u can use your intern usb 3.0 ports at your motherboard. U can put the bracket in one expansion slot and then u can put your usb 3.0 front ports in it and u can still use your motherboards back usb 3.0 :)

  • @Th3M1k3yR The Raven 3 comes with a male USB 3.0 cable coming from the front panel, so without an adapter it must be routed to the rear motherboard port. I don't like this design and would rather have a USB 3.0 motherboard header because our board has one. I have seen the boards with the female USB 3.0 port internally, but the header is a more elegant solution. The ASUS P8P67 WS REVOLUTION is one with the ports internally which I think you are referring to, but it just came out.

  • I'd love it only if I had the money lol. I would so put another GTX 570 in there. It would be a complete beast! Imo. I would love that pc. My pc is okay..

  • Awesome video ... You did a fantastic job of helping make everything easy to understand. Thanks so much.

  • Isnt this more like a high end pc?

  • @s1gnex I would say it is. lol mid range

  • @s1gnex wouldn't a high end have an overclocked 5 ghz i7. and tri gtx 580 sli. I think this is medium cause you will be able to get 60-90 fps on a game like crisis

  • @s1gnex ITS NOT HIGH END FOR HIM CAUSE HE IS VERY RICH

  • @s1gnex Mid to high end. The core components could be considered high end. However, to fit into the highend market then it would require better cooling solutions (Noctua NH-d14, h20), HDD solutions ( ssd or raid configs), and GPU solutions(for example dual 570s or dual AMD cards) , etc

  • @s1gnex High end PCs are more around $2,000 - $3,000.

  • @s1gnex nah high end pc is extreme cpu and 4 graphic cards :P

  • I am doing the same thing but this is my first time. I feel lost and nervous at the same time. Is there anyway you can help me?

  • @Trigun075 Ask away, someone here should be able to answer any questions. What specifically are you nervous about?

  • @ksstudios How do i know my items will support each other? Does the stock fan on Sandy Bridge cpu comes with thermal compound? Is the GTX 580 any better than the GTX 570? and How do i know I have the right motherboard for gaming and computer programming?

  • @Trigun075 The stock CPU fan will have thermal material that is good for one use. Once it is removed, it must be cleaned off and new paste needs to be applied. The GTX 580 is faster than the 570, but you don't need to buy the most expensive for a great gaming experience. Depends on the resolution your monitor is. Make sure they support each other by matching the CPU socket type to the board socket type (socket 1155 CPU with socket 1155 board) check board manual to confirm support for the CPU.

  • @Trigun075 Picking components requires research. The PSU must have enough power to run all components. You can check specs for high power items (GPU) to see how much the max load is to help pick out a PSU to power the system. Also check motherboard QVL (qualified vendor list) to find memory that has been verified to work with your board. Enthusiast boards are not necessary for most users, especially if you only plan to use one GPU. A lot is based on budget.

  • @ksstudios I will not overclock my cpu because people said that it will damage the cpu so I will stay away from it.

  • @Trigun075 Automatic overclocking (turbo mode) on current Sandy Bridge CPU's is safe to do and is fully backed by Intel's warranty. It can be turned off if desired, but the benefits of leaving it on are worth checking into.

  • @ksstudios Do i need a sound card?

  • @Trigun075 You don't need one if you are just a casual gamer and do not perform audio editing or plan to connect your PC to a stereo receiver.

  • Ignore the Terryche comment - the Raven stomps all over the Corsiar when it comes to cooling - NO question about it (and I own the Corsiar).

    Great video thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks for all the tutorials! Really helped with me finishing up my new gaming pc! :D Now once i get some extra money, I can try water-cooling for myself!

  • the installation of graphic card was very very proffesional, the most proffesional then in any other video about building a pc I have seen, well done

  • Good case choice my ass

You should have went with the corsair 600T or 650D, this case is a mess!

  • @Terryche We actually wanted the 600T for this video but could not get the white edition in time. We have since moved the parts into the 600T case. The Raven 3 has better cooling than the 600T, and is ultimately a matter of personal preference. It is an easy case to build in, though the color scheme and PSU placement can be an issue as well as the front audio ports not working well with large headphone plugs. Check out our site for a review of the 600T and pics of these parts installed in it.

  • @ksstudios Well let me rephrase this, this case is rather unique. The cooling part I have to give credit to.

  • you could get so much better for 1500$ :( this is sad

  • @redned870 Why don't you list the parts if you feel that way, otherwise you come across as a troll.

  • @ksstudios Asus P8Z68-V

     1TB Western Digital Caviar Green G.Skill 4GB (2x2048MB) Ripjaws X Performance Intel Core i7 2600K

    OCZ SSD Agility 3 60GB

    Corsair Cooling Hydro H60

    NZXT Phantom

    MSI GeForce GTX 580 Lightning

    Cooler Master GX 750W

  • @redned870 Good choices, and thanks for being specific.

  • @ksstudios np man :)

  • @ksstudios Well you could switch for the ASUS ENGTX570 DCII, might be tri slot but it has better cooling IMO & is 10$ cheaper than the EVGA. If it's a midrange pc you can afford to skip the OC and go for the plain i7 2600. Since the MB is ATX you could go for the haf 912 wich has a removable SSD cage to support longer vcards and is half the price. As for the hdd I think a caviar green would be enough really.

This is what I would do. Feel free to reply. :)

  • @0peppers We chose the EVGA video card because we had purchased the GTX 470 and decided to use their step-up program to upgrade to the GTX 570. It's a nice program if you change your mind within the 90 day window. We really wanted to see what the overclocking was like on Sandy Bridge, so we splurged some of our budget on the CPU, most gamers won't need the 2600K. The 2500K is much cheaper and you only really lose hyperthreading.

  • @ksstudios I see. Well if i was in that position I would go for the step up as well. But if it would be a build from scratch I would go like I said in the previous comment. What do you think about my proposal? :)

  • Hi I sent you a PM - saying thanks. Now I've found enough money to buy around a 128GB SSD. Do you have any reccomendations? Is there anything too look out for? I was thinking for a OCZ or a Crosair SSD.

    Thanks

  • @items419 I would currently go with the Crucial M4 CT128M4SSD2CCA 128GB model. This is one of the fastest currently available. It is a SATA 3 (6Gb/s) drive. I recommend plugging this drive into the Intel SATA 3 port of the Sabertooth board and disable the Marvell SATA 3 ports for the fastest boot times.

  • Do the motherboard and the PSU allow for a second GPU for SLI?

  • @MrLarhf Yes. The board does limit each PCI-E slot to run at x8 speeds when two cards are installed though. Not really an issue, shouldn't have any effect on the speed of the cards.

  • @ksstudios Can I fit Noctua NHD14 in Raven Rv03???

The case itself its better than Raven Rv02 E ???

I really need case with great Air Flow!

  • @Gumson99 Looks like it will fit as it is 160mm tall and the RV03 can fit up to 163mm. It will be a close one though!

  • @ksstudios Cuz im want to use this case with NHD14 and Mushkin Ridgeback Redline memory so maybe a will have to move the noctua 120mm fan littttle bit up to fit this ram.But im not 100% sure if i can do it with this case:(

  • @JayDWhiteBoy Yes, the links don't work here, but search them and you will find their site. They are the best in the U.S.

  • @JayDWhiteBoy Best Buy won't carry any of these items. We use New Egg to purchase parts and highly recommend them.

  • @JayDWhiteBoy This build will have no problem at all doing that.

  • well that is that, im not going to buy the rv03. its unforgivable to not include internal usb3 on a new case like that.

  • @utubeb14 Thats why the MoBo has 2 in the I/O Port, Dumb ass

  • @LoliciousXD oh great lets waste them with silly extensions... prick

  • @utubeb14 go cry and buy a new case than fucking "tard. If your smart enough Im sure you can figure a way around it

  • @LoliciousXD this is a new case.

  • @utubeb14 Just found out that the front panel headphone port doesn't work well for gaming headsets either. The plug is too fat and keeps popping out. Contacted SilverStone and they are looking for a fix.

  • @ksstudios I definitely think ill wait for a revision before I get this. seems to have a few issues.

  • @utubeb14 Our new favorite case is the Corsair 600T. Just picked up the Special Edition white one and we have a review up on our site with these same parts installed in it. Very cool!

  • Nice 1500 dollar build, good choice in the raven case, small but has tons of room inside.

  • I built my HTPC I was talking about in your last video. It's running a Core i3-2100 with 4GB of GSKill ram on an ASRock board. I was skeptical about ASRock but various searches came up with them being solid boards. For the system drive, I used a Crucial M4 SATAIII 64gb SSD. It's wicked fast! From completely off to within XBMC in 22 seconds. Im using a Seagate 1.5TB for my media. Eventually Ill upgrade to a Bluray drive. I also bought a bluetooth dongle so I can use a PS3 controller as a remote.

  • @gp3159 The Crucial M4 is our choice at the moment. We will be picking one of those up for our gaming PC soon.

  • That's more than a Mid Range Build! Nice job!

  • @marland66 Thanks! I feel like we hit the mark with the budget we had. We will be upgrading to a SSD for the main storage drive and putting a Blu-ray drive in here pretty soon. The performance is amazing. Have it running at 4.5GHz.

  • A $1500 PC is in NO WAY Mid range.

  • @SteGuitar7 it is when you can spend 1k alone on just a processor

  • @SteGuitar7 It's sad, but the entire socket 1155 lineup is considered mid-range according to the media. The GTX 570 was mid to high end back in November 2010 when it came out, but has been bumped down to mid-range status with the release of the GTX 590 and HD 6990.

  • @ksstudios I'd consider the 590 and 6990 more "enthusiast" while GTX570 is definitely high-end.

  • I enjoyed the video. One question is that your PC or did you build it for a client.

  • @HPHQ10 This one was built for personal use. I needed a new gaming system and wanted to have an updated testbed for reviewing new cases. These parts will appear in all of our ATX case reviews for this year.

  • @ksstudios Nice enjoy! it reminds me of my build since I went with the 470 since its was built last July.

  • thanks for the good guide i am now want to build me own gaming PC

  • Best guide eva, ur a big help who made me decide and build a gaming comp for the first time!

  • @Revanchist8525 Thanks! Comments like this are the reason we do what we do.

  • finally! :)

  • That was pretty cool, I may think of getting that PC case for my next build :)
