That voice, those hot-hot-hot-pants, those curlers, that baba-babuska!!! I remember this moment live. An unreal performance in a series of unreal performances. When she cracks that "...baby can't you see..." ohhh ya! What a show! Freddie thanks for the moments!
You know every time i hear a song cover of one of Freddie's songs as a tribute to him i honestly think that the best tribute to him was to let him be the only person to sing the song cause he has still not been out done by some cover or "tribute"
@IrianZamJaya i noticed that too, he looked piissed off when Gary Cherone was singing hammer to fall. but that guy was annoying with all his but shaking, he got on my nerves.
God I love Queen... RiP Freddie Mercury I am just thankful we still have them all and Thank you john deacon for pulling threw and doing this we know that you didnt want to do this with out Freddie :'( but got pushed to do it.
Everyone who was apart of this night just wanted to honour Freddie Mercury. Yes there were times people out of key but who cares? It was about celebrating the life of Freddie and bring awareness of aids. I love Queen and I will still love them till the day I die.
@imsoterriblybored John wrote the song, but he himself admitted that he couldn't sing very well. I think Roger could have sang this song perfectly fine.
@Trunker1 Oh come on, first of all singing correctly is important, but that alone doesn't make for good singing. And, most importantly, the fact that there were worse performances doesn't mean this was a good one! But I gotta say: Hot piece of ass!
@hippievogelei it was his voice and pressence on stage that kept the crowd speachless..If u ever went to a Queen concert then u know by memory what I'm saying..his voice went right through you..and in earlier times durring the 70's u never knew what he would do or wear next..one second u were watching a rock band then by the next song it was opera with a stage full of people
oh that vacuum cleaner.. even though i wasn't even alive when he died, he was and still is the ultimate best singer that walked on this earth. Rest In Peace, Freddie Mercury.
This song is supposed to be powerful, not gentle and pretty... A lot of times people mistake when I say that it was a terrible performance with "it's bad singing" when in fact I mean e.g., James Hetfield wouldn't/shouldn't be singing opera... This is why I hate Paul Rodgers for instance. He actually sings quite well but he almost purposely FORCES his invariable style onto EVERY damn Queen song.
Freddie Mercury was one of the few vocal chameleons, especially with such range, power, and beauty.
I wish these people would stop crying about how artists "butchered" Queen's songs. Bull. I agree, no one will ever compare to Freddie but this was a concert to honor him, not hog the spotlight, steal the show or try to better a Queen song. Everybody did a great job, from Roger Daltrey to Seal to Axl Rose to Extreme and to just be there is enough.
A part of music' soul died with Freddie Mercury, Rock has become too mainstream. I hope this is a nightmare and I'm waking up to reality in 1980. All the greats are pretty much broken up or dead, Bon Scott Dave Evans (AC/DC), Guns'n'roses break-up. Thank the love of God that Van Halen is back in business!
I saw Paul Rodgers with Queen in Philly. Paul sang the Queen songs in his own voice because of the respect he had for Mercury. Queen did not have to come back. They did for the fans. Really who could replace Mercury. The guy had it.
Damn you can look cute in "Rollers" Ha. Cute intro to this wonderful performance. Fantabulous. Allowing a Special Someone to be free not encroaching on their Free Will to chose to love you without doing things to influence this Magnficent ones choices. A tuff one. This gem just tells us the TRUTH. :-))) WE all are free choice beings, Do not hold back your butterfly-from morphing. Umm Such a valuable lesson I finally GOT IT. WEW!! This is such a fantastic performance.I say Yummie to my SOUL. :-)
@SecretYoungLink007 and ur right too, John and Freddie became real close in the end and thats ultimately why John didnt quit Queen after Freddie died with the exception of 2 performances
I had the honour of seeing Queen live in 1977 - front row in a venue of 2500 - this was just as they were becoming known in North America. Brian May was right in front of me and Freddie was all over the stage, tossing roses and being Freddie. Watching this brings tears to my eyes.
this is one of my favorite performances from the concert.
I remember watching the MTV cut down coverage of it, and after the song the MTV idiot said that the American audience might not get the vacuum reference. and i just though, yea, because you assholes would never play the video!
to GaleasAg1: he decided to retire after the release of Made in Heaven. He lives quietly with his family. You can find some recent photos of him in the internet, he is a bit different, but I´m sure u will recognize him!
SYL007 : I just think it pained him to hear anyone else sing these songs..without the fire and the power of freddie. John was the least ego in the people in the group..therefore he felt the blow of losing Freddie much more than the others.they had their own egos and were, well, only aware of themselves..not saying they didnt feel sorrow, but i think John , because he was always the observer..saw and heard how this would never ever be the same again..he knew the band was dead, they didnt really.
@SecretYoungLink007 John said in a newspaper review in 2001 that no one could replace Freddie Mercury, especially not Robbie Williams (who had covered a Queen song in collaboration with Brian and Roger on a song around that time).

I really didn't like this song at first with Freddy singing it but after hearing this woman sing it, I love it and I definately love it now when I hear Freddy sing it.....
