He's right Allah created the universe, wait, we are young as a species, we don't have all the answers, so we have to go by a book written 2 thousand years ago that cannot be proven as the true wort of god? Can we just except we just don't know yet? But science is moving in the right direction but religion is stagnant
This is the problem. Christians like this guy want to live by a doctrine with all the answers. The fact is, these are all questions of physics. Physics is a science that tries to figure out the answers to the questions that you claim to all ready know because god put it in your brain.
perhaps the number of different possible cycles for the universe is finite, and the universe cycles though every possiblitiy forever without a beginning or end.
I was hoping for actually relevant comments. Seems like everyone here is more concerned with proving everyone wrong, rather than proving their standpoint right. Awesome video. Appreciate CARM a lot.
@Kamyu03 Well for somebody so intellectual your comment certainly fell flat. You pretend that you resist Jesus because of some intellectual reason with noble motives of ridding the world of superstition or whatever. But really you just don't want to admit that you are a sinner in need of a Saviour. You hate the thought that God has the power to judge you and that you will in stand before God in judgment one day.
I know that faith is needed to be an atheist. There is NO evidence for evolution.
@wittymcwitterson Not at all, I AM A JEW (lol)!!!. Well not really, it's just his logics is so poor it's not worth my time. And you say there is no evidence for evolution, c'mmon how could i take you seriously.
And besides someone who believes in creation myths talking about faith?. The claim that faith is needed to be an atheist itself requires a LOT of faith. Atheism is the lack of religious faith, i couldn't possibly believe in the miracles of Jesus or Mohammed as an atheist,
For that matter, Creationism, having no observable evidence in, or against, it's favor, is a negative. A total figment of imagination. This does not necessarily mean it is not true, however it means that every idle negative creation hypothesis one conceives has the exact same probability of truth. So, if I were to theorize right now that space-cows brought us in to existence, that claim would, in terms of pure logic, be just as true as Christianity. It's odds of being true are less than minute.
Sans energy/matter there would have been no time, time being relative to matter and its motion. So before the universe sprang in to existence, whether it be by God or another exceptional event, there would have been no time as we know it. Furthermore, the Creationist argument regarding all things being evidence of their creator bears the glaring fallacy that this sequence very arbitrarily ends at God. There is a very good reason that this argument fails in debate, it's a bit non-sequitur.
It's pointless to argue about whether or not there is or was a Creator.
It's much more fun to contemplate the NATURE of that Creator. Like, for instance, what He doesn't want us to eat, what He doesn't want us to do with our bodies, Who are his chosen people and which part of the desert did He give them, which direction to pray and how often, What his name is ETC.
Without these arguments some of our favourite wars would be rendered pointless!
Here's the thing about existence: We are physical beings, but God is a spiritual being. He caused our perception of time when he created the physical universe we live in. We live, and we die, so how can we understand or even begin to comprehend such a timeless concept such as being an undying spirit? Our understanding is limited to this conclusion, because of the fact that we are physical beings.
@VeritasLuxMea100 your last statement is VERY unscientfic. Without a cause, there is no effect. Slick just explained and shot down completely that statement. Try again. Thanks.
@ostinlt12 It isn't scientific, it's simple terminology. Without matter or space there is no time, no way to measure it or distinguish it from another point in time. Before, always, when, these are all words relating to time. "Before" the universe existed is non-sensical as there cannot be time without space or matter. So yes my statement is accurate: As long as there has been time the universe has existed, hence always and for all time.
It is just so funny how this whole video is about how everything has to have a designer... except for God of course. We'll just bend the rules on that one and say that he is exempt from that so our philosophy "makes sense". It blows me away how many people are totally fine with that thinking. It is literally just completely bending your rules that you established for how things come to exist, yet no one cares. Unbelievable.
Matt Slick - what a disingenuous idiot! 'Reaching the Lost' my arse! Try dissenting on carm.org and see where it gets you; snotty emails from a very un-Christian Diane Sellner.
@musiclover9361 What does un-Christian even mean? I imagine that someone told you to go cry a river and it hurt your little feelings. Do you mean to tell me that if they don't indulge you every time you want to start a squabble on their website and give you center stage that they do not want to reach the lost? You probably grew up receiving participation trophies and you were given the impression that you are special. They've already dealt w/ all your brilliant arguments on a web page I'm sure.
Ha HA HA! Inability to account for our own existence?? So reading texts written by ancient sand dune dwelling cavemen somehow entitles you to a 100% trustworthy answer? Christian apologetics is the biggest con of this age. More like bunch of endless excuses for being an idiot.. Sire, you are nothing but a simpleton and an idiot.
Just because Christianity can offer an answer doesn't declare it true. Islam also gives an answer. So do all the multitudes of religions that existed before the Christian faith. Hell, Pastafarianism gives an answer.
The argument is structurally wrong... "personal cause or an impersonal cause, there is no third option." That has the same effect as saying, there's two types of people... people who put things into two categories and people who don't.
Everything this guy said after the first 30 seconds is just a series of questions intentionally structured to 'seem' difficult to answer, all of which 'seem' to have underlying logic... but don't in reality. Nothing new here.
Regardless of what we believe, it's all faith on how the universe started. No one was there to record it starting, no one. We cannot prove that billions of tiny electrons or whatever just collided and made everything. There's much more to it but, the fact is there have been too many times the theory has been revised. With the bible, the beginning never changes, God created the universe, it's never been revised. The bible has been around much longer than evolution or big bang. I trust it.
@metalgtp In that case, by your rationale for example, snow does not fall at night? If I look out my window in the morning and see snow on the ground, it is not necessary for someone to have witnessed it falling for me to know that it did.
You've only regurgitated the standard creationist gibberish that since we don't know how the universe was created or how we got here, then it must have been due to the acts of a supernatural magic being. That's all you've said. You also misuse the word "atheism." What you really mean to say is "science," which you clearly do not understand.
The uncaused cause? Are you fucking kidding me?lol. I love how the religious have managed to brian wash us all by referring to atheism as if it's another belief system filled with crazy ideas like their belief system. News flash Matt. Atheism is not a belief system. It's simply a lack of belief in your belief system. Or maybe as you might put it. A lack of belief in a belief system is not a belief system
nothing ever come from nothing. that's just science fact. So atheism saying the big bang spontaniously generated is nonsense. In order for us to even exsist something must have been there before time to start it.
@Daniel111487 Something were there... Billions of particles flying through in the tiniest little "space" that were there before SPACE excisted. These particles or atoms (I dunno. Don't remember THAT much :P) collided at a massive rate all the time. Untill one atom/particle collided with another particle/atom which had never been collided with before. This triggering an explosion of particles/atoms which later on formed what we can call "space".
His "proof": The universe must have been created by someone.
Unfortunately, he just shot down his own "proof" of god's existence. If something cannot have always existed, and must have been created first, then god could not have always existed. Someone must have created god.
Therefore he is not the source of everything. The person or thing that created god must be the true "creator".... but then who created that person or thing.
Mr. Slick (an appropriate name ;-) can't claim that everything needs to be created, and then exclude god from this "proof" of god's existence.
In reality, god (the Judeo-Christian god that he refers to is one of many gods of many religions) was created by someone else... he/she was created by human beings in an ancient and unenlightened age.
In ancient times people needed answers to unanswered questions like "why do the sun and stars revolve around the earth?", and so each society created their own gods to explain what they could not do with their limited knowledge.
Today, although our society hasn't even gotten close to reaching the pinnacle of knowledge, we have at least gained enough knowledge to disprove many ancient beliefs. For example we know that the universe is not 6,000 years old, it is closer to 14 Billion years old.
It's frightening that crazies like Mr. Slick still expound their lunatic ideas. We don't live in caves anymore, and we don't believe that lightning is the arrow that a deity has shot at us.
What is even more frightening is that crazies like him use "god" as a justification for doing the worst evils that mankind has ever had to endure... and it continues to this day.
Religions, and the hatred of others that religions instill in their flocks, must be outlawed. It's time for society to do this.
But don't the same question apply to God? Like, where did he come from? Why does he exist? and one I like to ask, What made God want to create the universe? You say the universe can't exist forever because time can't go back forever, but then how can God's time go back forever? Why did God wait forever before creating the universe, and where did God's reason to create the universe come from? did it just randomly pop into existence out of nowhere?
Your argument is entirely based on your own assertions. If you were a really smart believer in God, you wouldn't feel a need to prove his existence or to be condescending toward non-believers. I'm sure you can find words to that effect in your Bible.
so many flaws.. So your god is the only thing without a cause, and only because you get to say so, pff. Even if i was retarded and gave you that something created the universe (and i dont) what makes you think it was your god? What if a super advanced civilzation found a way to remove themself from space/time and was able to create our universe? You never have proved your god to be the creator even if we play the game that you were right until then. You fail on so many levels its sad.
@Blueace12345 now that wouldn't be much of a god if it had a cause now would it? God="i am" infinite, outside of time space and matter, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent. A finite being like us could never come close to understanding an infinite being as such. And supposing that the universe is a personal cause, then God is the primary candidate since He's the only one who has let his presence known throughout history and today.
@flipjmay What god makes any presence known today or ever? Given the flaws of all the holy books (written by man, and even if divinly inspired (yea right) then how come that god wasnt smart enough to get better people to inspire that would get his story straight and not contradict so many parts) I'm afraid that you cant use them. Maybe you are refering to jebus or mary on toast or any number of crazy things. Random pictures on food doesnt prove any god. Man created god, not the other way around
@Blueace12345 excuse me...you need to be enlightened of something...are you not aware that the contradictions that we find in the Holy Bible today are not the result of mistakes in the original copies...the bible is thousands of years old....we don't have most, if not any, of the original manuscripts...thousands of years of copies and preservations have been the source for most mistakes in it today...no one said the originals had mistakes in them
@burgers8 Ok, please provide an original copy so we can see how flawless it is. That, or stop making claims you cant back up. If there was an all powerful god that "inspired" this bible that was obviously written and cherry picked together by man you would think that he would have had them put it on something that wouldnt be lost or destroyed, or couldnt be lost or destroyed. Funny, you dont know what the original may have said, since none are here, yet i bet you eat the bible up nom nom nom.
@Blueace12345 ok dude...you're right, i can't prove that the original documents that make up the bible didn't have "mistakes"...but do you even know what these mistakes are? please, offer an example of one of these mistakes...i think you're full of shit and have no idea what you're talking about....as for your idea of "inspiration", its a misconception that God simply dictated directed to his writers what was to be written down...that's not how it works...so your argument fails
@Blueace12345 ....and another thing, stop being a troll....if you're going to continue to be an idiot, i'm going to let you carry on in your ignorance
do you seriously expect people to take you seriously when asking questions that scream out stupidity?
why would anyone need to account for anything? existence is. that's quite a given.
pretending like you know where it came from is not a legitimate position in the first place, and thus asking why atheists can't do the same is meaningless.
simply put: there are some answers that nobody knows but you're pretending to, and we see through the BS.
5:00 LOL. If God has always existed, then his existence is infinite, and by your own argument, the point in time at which he would act to create the universe could never be reached because an infinite amount of time must first pass. An argument that an infinite span of time precludes "now" is equally applicable to any point in the past. Cause and effect require time, and time is dependent on mass. The framework on which you insist does not apply "prior" to the universe. I reject your claim.
@PlasteredDragon That's why He is God. God has no beginning nor does he have an end. He transcends outside of space, time, and matter(mass). The creation of the universe is in His own grasp and needs not a cause nor effect.
@flipjmay I'm afraid that's a mere assertion, flip. The claim can't be strengthened by making assertions. If I claim to have a million dollar diamond in my pocket, and you notice that I don't have any pockets, I can assert that the diamond transcends pockets and makes its own pocket outside of time and space as needed. This assertion doesn't add anything to my claim (except, much as yours has, to make the claim more outlandish). I reject this additional claim as additionally unsupported.
4:41 Your aspersions on Atheism aside, you appear to have a very basic misconception of what Atheism is. You are making a claim, and in my opinion you have not made a sufficient case to support your claim so I don't believe it. That doesn't put any sort of onus on me to "explain the origins of the universe". If I don't know, I'm not going to make something up. I don't know, and I am completely comfortable with that. If you are not, that says something about you, not me.
2:08 So, an infinite span of time precludes the present from being reached, ergo the universe had to begin at some point. But the dependence of time on mass has been demonstrated. With all of the mass and energy in the universe compressed into a single point, what happens to time? "Time" and "existence" are interdependent concepts that are functional only within our universe in its present state. Positing being that transcends them simply trades one infinite regression for another.
0:37 "the universe came into existence". What are you basing this on? The Big Bang Theory? The BBT describes the transition of the universe from one state to another, and we are unable to determine what caused all the matter and energy in the universe to transition from its previous state to the state that immediately followed (rapidly expanding spacetime). It is utterly unknown to you or anyone else how long the universe existed in its prior state, or what caused it to change states.
0:33 Evolution is not Atheism--it has nothing to do with existence. I've to date never heard an Atheist even mention evolution when the origins of the universe come up. Regarding your assertion about "coming into existence"--what makes you think anything ever "comes into existence"? At one time all the atoms in your body were in other things (and other people.) Matter and energy are constant. Cause & effect have only (as far as we know) applied to the _rearrangement_ of matter & energy.
0:14 Why does Atheism need to account for existence, pray tell? ** THEIST: God made everything. ATHEIST: I don't believe this claim. THEIST: Well where did everything come from? ATHEIST: I don't know. ** What, exactly is the problem? Didn't I hear you yourself saying recently that "I don't know" is a perfectly valid thing to say and a valid position to hold?
This fellow is just so dumb i am surprised even he cannot see the falseness in his claim. the universe has not existed for ever he says and something had to cause it into existence but god is everlasting.......the same principle must therfore apply to god. something had to cause"god" to exist. What a moron....sorry for the vulgarity but it was necessary !!!!
And what did you find in your investigations? C'mon! Give me evidence, not opinions. You are way too young to be saying those kinds of things and to be giving up so easily.
Whether you believe in him or not, God exist and people are still talking about him. He cannot be believed OUT of existence because he was never believed INTO existence in the first place. He just exists.
Have you ever even read the bible in its entirety? Or let alone even looked up an outside source? And since you wasted your LIFETIME in the Catholic church, and we all know they always tell the truth and would never enforce false doctrine on us (SARCASM), how about you do this: Do your research, outside of the church, compare a catholic bible to a christian bible, cross reference it with archeological evidence, read the Koran, read Khalil Gibran or Flavius Josephus.
Ok, so i got your last reply and this is what you told me "I have attended a catholic school for my entire life. I have no misunderstanding of God. . . It's a paradoxical argument." If it is a paradoxical argument, i would like you to point out the contradictions. And another thing i visited your channel and learned that you are a kid. no older than 15, maybe 16 and you are trying to tell me about your life experience in the church. lol!
@ErieMarkus to ancient days. Nothing should be taken at surface level, though, and the Bible is no exception. The Bible has lots of extra-biblical evidence (archaeologically, scientifically, mathematically) to proclaim its validity.
The Bible is not a Napkin, it is much much more than that.
@ErieMarkus The Roman Catholic Church holds to beliefs that are either not backed by scripture or misinterpretations of scripture. You should always be careful when anyone claims to tell you the truth and test it with what the Bible says.
Concerning the Pink Unicorn and the Napkin of Truth, you hold a very logically sound argument. A napkin saying the unicorn exists does not prove anything at all. However, the Bible is a napkin. It is a well preserved document with tons of manuscript dating
I can already see you have a great misunderstanding of God and the Bible as you so proved with the example you used. i.e. "The Pink unicorn is the only true god because this napkin says so," when it should read like this - "The Pink unicorn is the only true god because the Pink unicorn says so." Not the napkin. Get yo mind right! haha!
You seriously want me to not use the bible to debate biblical topics? That's ridiculous. That's like telling a scientist not to use a science text book to debate science. Honestly, i haven't even opened my bible today and I haven't even quoted scripture. Not a single quote. Don't believe me? Look at my comments. Not a single quote of scripture. I am using pure logic and evidence to support my arguments.
How am i ignorant? Explain? Once again (as I've said before) the flaw lies within you because you can't except what you don't agree with. You know what that's called? Ignorance. There is more proof for it than against it. I think that what you are is just stupid. Sorry, god bless.
kingdom into 4 sections, each led by his four leading generals.
Anyone with an open mind would agree that this is exactly what Daniel was talking about some 200 years earlier. Surely, you've heard this argument and have a response. If not, I would recommend doing a little more research before claiming that there is "not a shred of proof" for Christianity. Looking forward to your or anyone else's response.
Now, to avoid getting accused of using the Bible to prove anything, let's look at extra-Biblical resources. From history, we see that the Greeks invaded the Persians in 334 BC and moved rapidly (like the goat) to have an empire from the Ionian Sea to the Himalayas by age 30. We also know that when Alexander met his demise in a drunken orgy, there was some confusion as to who would take leadership. It was eventually resolved by splitting the
Gabriel. He says explicitly that the Ram with two horns represents the kings of Media and Persia and the goat (who was coming from the west of the surface of the whole earth without touching the ground; aka super fast) is Greece. The horn in between his eyes is the first king. The goat (Greece) magnifies himself greatly and then the large horn (the first king) is broken and in its place, four horns come up. The four horns represent four kingdoms which arise from the first king's
There are several books that give credible evidence for not only a Creator, but for Christianity. However, since I doubt that most people read the books that I offer them, I will briefly outline one such argument: the Bible's prophetic accuracy. I'll try to keep it short, but if we read the book of Daniel (written about 535 BC), we find one such prophecy. In Daniel 8:1-8, Daniel describes a vision of his (The Ram and The Goat). Daniel 8:20-22 is an explanation of the vision by
I'll give you a hint though. There are over 25,000 different manuscripts in hundreds of different languages that attest to the fact that Jesus walked the earth in the 3rd decade, A.D. and conducted miracles - a multitude of these being from non- christian sources. Enjoy!
But i ask you, i challenge YOU to prove that He does not exist. Where is your evidence that he does not exist? You see what i just did there? I'm using the Socratic Method by answering a question with a question. In doing so this will cause you to do your own research so that you can never say that i influenced your answer. You will have come to it yourself. The Evidence is out there.
Whenever I read responses to videos like this, I always find the same response: "What created God? How can God be infinitely old? etc." Well the thing is, God, by definition, cannot exist within the bounds of space and time, meaning that He exists beyond the fourth dimension. This is just basic logic: nothing can create itself, so God must exist outside of creation. This means that god is "timeless," meaning that He is not contained by time and can "just exist."
Now that is some logic for you. Man, i have never heard it put this way. Brilliant my man! Brilliant! Hope you don't mind me using this example in the future.
Do you see the absurdity in this? And, regardless of the fact that a bird can see farther than me or a wolf can run faster than me, I'm still at the top of the food chain because my brain is better than any other animal (fact).
I can list for DAYS the evidence that attest to the existence of God but it would be moot for me to do so because you already have it set in your heart that he doesn't exist. Atheists or non- believers usually demand evidence from Christians.
This is where you are completely wrong. And, Zeus, Ra, Thor and any other pagan gods did and still do exist. They just exist in the human psyche. This was a necessary step in order for humanity to get one step closer to God. We created such abominable gods with human traits that the Lord had to reveal himself to us (again). This in itself is unique. It seems in your argument you use the belief that the design of our terrible bodies and HUMAN flaws attest that there is no god.
I live in Boise, Idaho which is near where Mr. Slick lives. The other day I was at a Hastings entertainment store and I could not believe what I saw. The great and perfect Matt Slick was looking at the Maxim and Playboy magazines they had. I walked right over a began looking at them as well. I said "Hello mr. Slick" and he very quickly left the store. It was very amusing.
Wrong, wrong and more wrong. Christianity never failed to account for existence and we do know what started the universe. It was God, as He says he did in the book of Genesis. Damn boy, everybody knows that! lol.
To sweep somebody off his feet with the argument "But there is still so much you CAN'T explain" is a pretty bold move for someone who's standing on nothing.
What do you mean by "standing on nothing"? I would go far enough to say that Christianity stands on the foundation of the entire history of mankind, not to mention the overwhelming evidence. And, i mean OVERWHELMING. There is so much evidence pointing to the existence of an all powerful creator that it is much harder today to prove God does not exist in the scientific community.
Calling God the "uncaused cause" is special pleading of a laughable kind. You can't use the argument that nothing can be infinitely old, then pivot to say that God has always existed. Your own arguments refute themselves. Go back to the drawing board.
His arguments do not refute themselves. I would say watch the video again, listen with and open mind, and pay close attention to the domino example. Oh, and by this logic, Slick CAN use this argument and say that God always existed. If God has always existed, than he wouldn't be infinitely old because he was never young to begin with. He just is.
@joxua1five How would it not work then to assert that the singularity just was? Or that whatever predated it just was? It wouldn't be "infinitely old" by your terminology either. It would just have always existed. Don't pretend like I don't understand. Explain why I'm wrong if you can. Don't resort to assumptions that I am incapable of following the complicated analogy to "dominoes". It's self-defeating. And I've already told you why. Your semantic distinction is meaningless.
To refute my argument below, you say that if the Universe were infinitely old, it would run out of energy to be used. But one of the simplest concepts about energy is that it is neither created nor destroyed. How could the usable energy "run out" if this is true? Also, how could the Universe have been created if energy is neither created nor destroyed?
@TBarrett144 It is true that energy can neither be created or destroyed. But, the usable energy being talked about changes to a form that is no longer useful for say stars. The small hydrogen atom fuses with more hydrogen atoms finally the star is no longer able to be a star and super novas or just stops being a star and becomes say a black hole. The energy just changed form, and that is why the universe is cooling down.
You say: "The Universe came into existence, so what caused it?"
I say your logic is wrong. You automatically think that because it exists, something must have created it, right? So if you apply this logic to Creationism, you find a similar problem. What created God? Christians say God didn't need creation, because he always existed. Why not save a step and say that the Universe always existed? It didn't need a creation. It was always here.
Heres the problem with these fucking Matt Slick "intellectuals" out there Theyre well versed, articulate, and probably relatively intelligent people on everything they encounter EXCEPT religion Do u have any idea how big the universe is? Its fucking huge And we havent even discovered all the places on this planet alone! We haven't found a cure for the common cold OR Cancer. In the grand scheme, we don't know JACK about our own bodies and we're going to claim we know who created everything!?
one of moses' followers said to him "i can see you got two stone tablets old fart, but you don't have any evidence that god gave it to you because you haven't proven to us that god actually exists... you think moses would have used some TAG crazy logic reasoning like you do to convince them?
you're missing my point entirely. what if, two thousand years ago a non-believer told YOU... " sure, jesus died and resurrected, but how could you automatically assume that he's the son of god?, you couldn't because there is actually no evidence that there is a god!" would you then have used your TAG mumbo-jumbo logic to explain your side????????????
That all being said, im not trying to get into a debate with any of you.Just expressing my views of the so called "unknown"(which really isnt unknown).Youtube religion debates are to much time consuming and usually end up going no where or a big flame war full of insults and threats.
"The atheist says that the universe brought itself into existence, yet that is illogical because if nothing existed how can something be made?"
I don't know, that's a good question. That's why I read Stephen Hawking and not the Bible. Science (unlike religion) is actually trying to find the answers.
The bible already has the answers. What do you mean by science?Do you mean man figuring out how the universe was created by using a machine?Wont happen.Heres the thing, something DID exist before the universe. And that is god.Its not like before the universe, there was a big blob of nothing. We as humans cant comprehend what "nothing" is.But god has shown and revealed himself to man.Jesus was living proof of this.God in the flesh. And he WAS a real person, not some fairy tale.
@zeratul1356 Actually there isn't a whole lot of evidence that Jesus actually existed, but whatever. You sound like a religious fanatic so I know it's useless to try to persuade you with silly things like "facts" and "logic". Go about your business with your Jesus loving and i'll go about my business reading Christopher Hitchens. Good day.
I love how throughout the video he just makes assumptions.
Hey Christian, I don't know what caused the big bang. Hell, i'm not even sure something had to cause the big bang. Maybe since time and space didn't exist before there is no rationale answer. Maybe it's just a natural phenomenon my brain was never meant to comprehend.
Hes an idiot because he has valuable points against your beleif? And trust me when I say this, I am not biased.I am very open minded.Ive seen great points of both arguments. But ive always noticed that christains have the answers and solutions, athiests dont and just create doubt.i have done extensive research of why christainity is the truth and why other religions are not.And after seeing the arguements, im almost surprised that there are so many athiests now
don't try sounding smart... if you were born 2000 years ago then you won't be able to use all these scientific big words you're using... you're simply riding on coattails of the discoveries made by science then you talk like you're a part of it. do you really believe that the first people who tried to spread this christianity bs were using terms like universe, thermo dynamics, logic, infinite cycles, matter, energy, etc.? of course not.
They didnt need to use any of those terms. Two thousand years ago, they had Jesus as living proof. He came back from the dead in front of many people. He did the what athiests called "the impossible".Of course, you could question wether he came back from the dead or not.But I have seen every athiest thoery out there of it and each one has been incredibly flawed. If Jesus did not get ressurected, then the officials would have shown his body as proof of his lies.Todestroy christainity
You don't know what started the universe, slick, and neither do I. Saying that you do know just displays incredible arrogance.
You say that Athiests take cheap shots at you... Well almost everyone of your videos has at least one snyde anti-athiest, propaganda-esque comment from you.
The rock existed before it been turned into... Did you mean the universe is existed before it has been turned into ... You have failed again and again!
I think this is enough to show that you are a con artist.
@0:30 "What ever come to existence was caused to come into existence ..."
Would you show me some evidence for this? It is self-evidence, you may say. No it is not! We never seen something cause something else come into existence from nothing! When you say "come into existence" you have to mean that it did not existed. So it came from nothing, or from non existence! It is true magic, just like the rest of your arguments.
xbox360boypker@ I don't agree with it either . With all due respect when you deal with believers like that you appear vulgar and irrational and give other atheists a bad name. Do not act on emotion when in this type of setting . If you could do that it would reveal your maturity level as acceptable.
If Mr Slick had been rude to you or non believers then im sure calling him an idiot ! would be more understandable.
god isn't fact you idiot. and have you ever heard of the big bang theory or done any research about it. pull your head out of your ass and join the real world.
@anvita99 nope.atheists are dumb because they dont believe God exists.we theists never stated him as imaginary or a friend, but as a our father and creator,so for you to make that assumed claim while funny as an immature child is,its still false.and you cant prove the big bang happend either, and it still makes zero sense.
@billy5939 [atheists are dumb because they dont believe God exists]
And yet you have zero evidence to back up this claim. What a shame. Did you know people are BORN not believing in gods? There's no good reason, proof, of evidence to believe in any god.
[you cant prove the big bang happend either]
LOL. Why don't you go look up "Big Bang evidence" on Google like any normal, uneducated person does? There are ANSWERS out there, but you're too intellectually lazy to look for them.
@billy5939 [we theists never stated him as imaginary]
Lol?
[or a friend]
Do you know what "friend" means? Really? Out of all the things I said, you're offended that I said Jesus is your FRIEND? Your priorities are mixed up. I'm going to take a stab here and guess you've never read the Bible.
@anvita99 but you know what, you seem like an intelligent person and i enjoy smart convos more than name calling and arguing in a fucked up way, sorry if i offended you with my comment
I don't understand this "outside of time" business. If something exists then time must apply. Therefore to say "outside of" with respect of time is simply a category error in your use of language, please describe why it is not a category error
Everyone is an atheist. Even this guy. He doesnt believe in Zeus, Buddha, Odis, Osiris, Atlas, Ceres, Horus, Hsi-Wang-Mu, Jupiter, Luna, Neptune, and hundreds maybe thousands of other gods.
@canabal72994 Christians are Mono-theists the belief in one God a lot of those god's are from poly-theistic religions I do believe they exist however They are mute, made of wood, stone and metal and I don't worship them. and Buddha isn't a god. and Buddhists don't worship a god that is a common misconception. Mono-theism is the belief in One all powerful God. Poly-theism is the belief in many
@GuardianofHisBrid i know what they mean thank you. You are just an odd exception to belive the other gods exist. The majority of christians asked will call other gods imaginary. Atleast theyre devout in their belief. It seems there's never any consistency in belief's of people of the same religion. Its all based on how each person perceives it. They create their own god, their own heaven, and their own hell. Its all in the person's head.
@GuardianofHisBrid and i apologize for incorrectly saying Buddha, theres still hundreds of others to account for that were around far before jesus christ was on earth.
@canabal72994 Of course there were hundreds of fake deities, if humans are not exposed to the word of God, naturally they will create their own religious ideologies, but the Bible is more substantial in explaining the creation of time, matter, and space.
@DiatonicSoul who are you to say theyre fake when there were gods that were created before yours. And they say yours isnt the true god. Whos to say whos right? NO ONE
@DiatonicSoul im a guy who does his research. And thank you for admitting the god of the bible was created. The god of the bible was created around 2000 years ago. There were egyptians gods before that, greek gods, hindu gods, mayan gods, and so many more i will simply not care to comment on. You imply to me that ou believe that no one talked of any other gods before someone talked of the christian one? Failure..
@DiatonicSoul im correct because im someone who weighs all the facts. Yes the majority of the world is delusional.. You find that hard to believe? I sure don't. If you tell a lie for long enough, loud enough, and to the masses people will believe it (Rough paraphrase of Hitler).
@canabal72994 Then you might as well say King Herod, King Nebuchadnezzar, John The Baptist, Moses, Jesus, and the Roman empire never existed, humans were tricked into believing it was all a lie for... what? If you say because humans needed to be controlled, well China, ruled by an athiest government successfully controls an entire country of billions of people. I try to use common sense to approach religion, not what Preacher Bob says on Sunday at Church.
@DiatonicSoul Actually, i wouldn't say any of those things never existed. As far as i'm concerned, only to be specific on jesus, jesus was probably a very real man. A man of good morals. But as far as him being the god (most claim him to be his son which is untrue) is all bull. Religion isnt JUST for control, it is in part, but the main reason it exists is because simple minded people cannot accept the truth. They cannot accept death.. They cannot accept pain or suffering. They create their own
@DiatonicSoul (continued) They create their own paradise... their personal belief as to what they want.. I try to use common sense to approach life, which is not what the majority of the world. and no china does not have billions of people and nor did it during the peoples republic of china... Just because the govt is atheist doesnt mean people wont have their own beliefs. Prove to everyone in the world there is no god, and watch the chaos that follows. Peoples fairy tales will be crushed..
@canabal72994 b4 buddah was God and the o.t of the bible.and christ always existed b4 his incarnate form.did buddah die for you?suffer for you? name one thing he did for anyone.
@billy5939 why would i know what buddha did? Why would i care what christ did? christ didnt die FOR me.. he was killed... i didnt ask for it. he can die all over again for all i care.. are u saying buddah was god? cause your wrong.. he was just enlightened.. and if christ always existed, howcome he chose to appear to mankind 2000 some odd years ago instead of at the start of the human race?
@canabal72994 cuz there was no need at the beginning you fucking idiot.better question before you talk shit and judge, why dont you actually try reading the bible?....idiot your dense kid
@billy5939 didnt talk shit smart one.. just pointin out evidence that people in your genre lack. everyone judges people to even just analyze what theyre saying. im not dense, im just an intellectual. And im no idiot, not gonna brag about smarts on here tho.
(sorry double post) amount of time to get to the point of where god creates our universe. Now, lets say that wherever god is, there is no time. In that case, if there is no times, then there would be no space for him to create humanity. He cannot have created our universe in 7 days. If there is no time, then it is a comparison of a picture to a video. God would be the picture, we would be the video. He would have to do everything at once, which contradicts to our universe, where time exists.
This entire video contradicts itself in 2 places which I have found. First, it says, or at least in the written piece, that it could not have always been there, because it would take an infinite amount of time to reach now. So, the contradiction to that is here. He states that god created humanity, and everything. Now who created god? Well you answered it, he has always existed. However, going back to the infinite time thing, he cannot have existed for infinity. Then it would take an infinante

You know nothing about Logic.
The precepts of Logic demand that the "Burden of Proof" falls ENTIRELY upon the shoulders of those that male a claim.
THEISTS made the claim that gods exist. You made that claim, too. The Burden of Proof is entirely upon your shoulders to substantiate that claim.
Logic does NOT require that ANYONE disprove any idiotic claims you make.
WHERE IS YOU EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE to support your claim that gods exist?
Enlighten the world with your "brilliance".

He's right Allah created the universe, wait, we are young as a species, we don't have all the answers, so we have to go by a book written 2 thousand years ago that cannot be proven as the true wort of god? Can we just except we just don't know yet? But science is moving in the right direction but religion is stagnant
kraqore79 3 days ago
This is the problem. Christians like this guy want to live by a doctrine with all the answers. The fact is, these are all questions of physics. Physics is a science that tries to figure out the answers to the questions that you claim to all ready know because god put it in your brain.

The universe came into existence.
Really?
At what exact moment in time did this happen?
Hmmm. hang on, but without the universe nothing existed 'in time'.
So there can't have EVER been a time when the universe didn't exist.
Funny how supposedly smart people like Mr Slick conveniently leave this bit out.

There is NO evidence for evolution.
wittymcwitterson 2 months ago
@wittymcwitterson Not at all, I AM A JEW (lol)!!!. Well not really, it's just his logics is so poor it's not worth my time. And you say there is no evidence for evolution, c'mmon how could i take you seriously.
And besides someone who believes in creation myths talking about faith?. The claim that faith is needed to be an atheist itself requires a LOT of faith. Atheism is the lack of religious faith, i couldn't possibly believe in the miracles of Jesus or Mohammed as an atheist,
Kamyu03 2 months ago
For that matter, Creationism, having no observable evidence in, or against, it's favor, is a negative. A total figment of imagination. This does not necessarily mean it is not true, however it means that every idle negative creation hypothesis one conceives has the exact same probability of truth. So, if I were to theorize right now that space-cows brought us in to existence, that claim would, in terms of pure logic, be just as true as Christianity. It's odds of being true are less than minute.
DomeSwag 3 months ago
Sans energy/matter there would have been no time, time being relative to matter and its motion. So before the universe sprang in to existence, whether it be by God or another exceptional event, there would have been no time as we know it. Furthermore, the Creationist argument regarding all things being evidence of their creator bears the glaring fallacy that this sequence very arbitrarily ends at God. There is a very good reason that this argument fails in debate, it's a bit non-sequitur.
DomeSwag 3 months ago

Hajimmysaito 3 months ago
I don't have to account for why there is something rather than nothing, nor do I care why or how the universe came into existence.
Atheism is not a truth claim, it is a response to a truth claim. It is a rejection of theists truth claims based on insufficient evidence.
As far as I am concerned, the universe has always existed, time and space are inseparable, without the universe there is no time.
VeritasLuxMea100 3 months ago
@VeritasLuxMea100 your last statement is VERY unscientfic. Without a cause, there is no effect. Slick just explained and shot down completely that statement. Try again. Thanks.
ostinlt12 3 months ago
@ostinlt12 It isn't scientific, it's simple terminology. Without matter or space there is no time, no way to measure it or distinguish it from another point in time. Before, always, when, these are all words relating to time. "Before" the universe existed is non-sensical as there cannot be time without space or matter. So yes my statement is accurate: As long as there has been time the universe has existed, hence always and for all time.

TomKaren1994 5 months ago
Regardless of what we believe, it's all faith on how the universe started. No one was there to record it starting, no one. We cannot prove that billions of tiny electrons or whatever just collided and made everything. There's much more to it but, the fact is there have been too many times the theory has been revised. With the bible, the beginning never changes, God created the universe, it's never been revised. The bible has been around much longer than evolution or big bang. I trust it.

You've only regurgitated the standard creationist gibberish that since we don't know how the universe was created or how we got here, then it must have been due to the acts of a supernatural magic being. That's all you've said. You also misuse the word "atheism." What you really mean to say is "science," which you clearly do not understand.
mhender668 6 months ago
The uncaused cause? Are you fucking kidding me?lol. I love how the religious have managed to brian wash us all by referring to atheism as if it's another belief system filled with crazy ideas like their belief system. News flash Matt. Atheism is not a belief system. It's simply a lack of belief in your belief system. Or maybe as you might put it. A lack of belief in a belief system is not a belief system

Daniel111487 6 months ago
@Daniel111487 Something were there... Billions of particles flying through in the tiniest little "space" that were there before SPACE excisted. These particles or atoms (I dunno. Don't remember THAT much :P) collided at a massive rate all the time. Untill one atom/particle collided with another particle/atom which had never been collided with before. This triggering an explosion of particles/atoms which later on formed what we can call "space".

What if it never existed?
acidvial 6 months ago
This man's "logic" makes no sense at all.
Gourman 6 months ago
Gourman 6 months ago
In ancient times people needed answers to unanswered questions like "why do the sun and stars revolve around the earth?", and so each society created their own gods to explain what they could not do with their limited knowledge.
Today, although our society hasn't even gotten close to reaching the pinnacle of knowledge, we have at least gained enough knowledge to disprove many ancient beliefs. For example we know that the universe is not 6,000 years old, it is closer to 14 Billion years old.
Gourman 6 months ago
It's frightening that crazies like Mr. Slick still expound their lunatic ideas. We don't live in caves anymore, and we don't believe that lightning is the arrow that a deity has shot at us.
What is even more frightening is that crazies like him use "god" as a justification for doing the worst evils that mankind has ever had to endure... and it continues to this day.
Religions, and the hatred of others that religions instill in their flocks, must be outlawed. It's time for society to do this.
Gourman 6 months ago
But don't the same question apply to God? Like, where did he come from? Why does he exist? and one I like to ask, What made God want to create the universe? You say the universe can't exist forever because time can't go back forever, but then how can God's time go back forever? Why did God wait forever before creating the universe, and where did God's reason to create the universe come from? did it just randomly pop into existence out of nowhere?
Aphex217Twin 6 months ago
So here's my question to the skeptic (all bias aside):
If the universe came to exist uncaused, then why don't random things or anything for that matter just pop up into existence uncaused?
Diachi26 7 months ago
Your argument is entirely based on your own assertions. If you were a really smart believer in God, you wouldn't feel a need to prove his existence or to be condescending toward non-believers. I'm sure you can find words to that effect in your Bible.
CaptainVasily 7 months ago
so many flaws..
Blueace12345 7 months ago
@Blueace12345 now that wouldn't be much of a god if it had a cause now would it? God="i am" infinite, outside of time space and matter, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent. A finite being like us could never come close to understanding an infinite being as such. And supposing that the universe is a personal cause, then God is the primary candidate since He's the only one who has let his presence known throughout history and today.
flipjmay 7 months ago
@flipjmay What god makes any presence known today or ever? Given the flaws of all the holy books (written by man, and even if divinly inspired (yea right) then how come that god wasnt smart enough to get better people to inspire that would get his story straight and not contradict so many parts) I'm afraid that you cant use them. Maybe you are refering to jebus or mary on toast or any number of crazy things. Random pictures on food doesnt prove any god. Man created god, not the other way around
Blueace12345 7 months ago
@Blueace12345 excuse me...you need to be enlightened of something...are you not aware that the contradictions that we find in the Holy Bible today are not the result of mistakes in the original copies...the bible is thousands of years old....we don't have most, if not any, of the original manuscripts...thousands of years of copies and preservations have been the source for most mistakes in it today...no one said the originals had mistakes in them
burgers8 7 months ago
@burgers8 Ok, please provide an original copy so we can see how flawless it is. That, or stop making claims you cant back up. If there was an all powerful god that "inspired" this bible that was obviously written and cherry picked together by man you would think that he would have had them put it on something that wouldnt be lost or destroyed, or couldnt be lost or destroyed. Funny, you dont know what the original may have said, since none are here, yet i bet you eat the bible up nom nom nom.
Blueace12345 7 months ago
@Blueace12345 ok dude...you're right, i can't prove that the original documents that make up the bible didn't have "mistakes"...but do you even know what these mistakes are? please, offer an example of one of these mistakes...i think you're full of shit and have no idea what you're talking about....as for your idea of "inspiration", its a misconception that God simply dictated directed to his writers what was to be written down...that's not how it works...so your argument fails
burgers8 6 months ago
@Blueace12345 ....and another thing, stop being a troll....if you're going to continue to be an idiot, i'm going to let you carry on in your ignorance

do you seriously expect people to take you seriously when asking questions that scream out stupidity?
why would anyone need to account for anything? existence is. that's quite a given.
pretending like you know where it came from is not a legitimate position in the first place, and thus asking why atheists can't do the same is meaningless.
simply put: there are some answers that nobody knows but you're pretending to, and we see through the BS.
your stupidity makes me lose hope in humanity.
De4sher 7 months ago
PlasteredDragon 7 months ago
@PlasteredDragon That's why He is God. God has no beginning nor does he have an end. He transcends outside of space, time, and matter(mass). The creation of the universe is in His own grasp and needs not a cause nor effect.
flipjmay 7 months ago
@flipjmay I'm afraid that's a mere assertion, flip. The claim can't be strengthened by making assertions. If I claim to have a million dollar diamond in my pocket, and you notice that I don't have any pockets, I can assert that the diamond transcends pockets and makes its own pocket outside of time and space as needed. This assertion doesn't add anything to my claim (except, much as yours has, to make the claim more outlandish). I reject this additional claim as additionally unsupported.
PlasteredDragon 7 months ago
4:41 Your aspersions on Atheism aside, you appear to have a very basic misconception of what Atheism is. You are making a claim, and in my opinion you have not made a sufficient case to support your claim so I don't believe it. That doesn't put any sort of onus on me to "explain the origins of the universe". If I don't know, I'm not going to make something up. I don't know, and I am completely comfortable with that. If you are not, that says something about you, not me.
PlasteredDragon 7 months ago
2:08 So, an infinite span of time precludes the present from being reached, ergo the universe had to begin at some point. But the dependence of time on mass has been demonstrated. With all of the mass and energy in the universe compressed into a single point, what happens to time? "Time" and "existence" are interdependent concepts that are functional only within our universe in its present state. Positing being that transcends them simply trades one infinite regression for another.
PlasteredDragon 7 months ago
0:37 "the universe came into existence". What are you basing this on? The Big Bang Theory? The BBT describes the transition of the universe from one state to another, and we are unable to determine what caused all the matter and energy in the universe to transition from its previous state to the state that immediately followed (rapidly expanding spacetime). It is utterly unknown to you or anyone else how long the universe existed in its prior state, or what caused it to change states.
PlasteredDragon 7 months ago
0:33 Evolution is not Atheism--it has nothing to do with existence. I've to date never heard an Atheist even mention evolution when the origins of the universe come up. Regarding your assertion about "coming into existence"--what makes you think anything ever "comes into existence"? At one time all the atoms in your body were in other things (and other people.) Matter and energy are constant. Cause & effect have only (as far as we know) applied to the _rearrangement_ of matter & energy.
PlasteredDragon 7 months ago
0:14 Why does Atheism need to account for existence, pray tell? ** THEIST: God made everything. ATHEIST: I don't believe this claim. THEIST: Well where did everything come from? ATHEIST: I don't know. ** What, exactly is the problem? Didn't I hear you yourself saying recently that "I don't know" is a perfectly valid thing to say and a valid position to hold?

@ErieMarkus to ancient days. Nothing should be taken at surface level, though, and the Bible is no exception. The Bible has lots of extra-biblical evidence (archaeologically, scientifically, mathematically) to proclaim its validity.
The Bible is not a Napkin, it is much much more than that.
gelndjjrskcene 8 months ago
@ErieMarkus The Roman Catholic Church holds to beliefs that are either not backed by scripture or misinterpretations of scripture. You should always be careful when anyone claims to tell you the truth and test it with what the Bible says.
Concerning the Pink Unicorn and the Napkin of Truth, you hold a very logically sound argument. A napkin saying the unicorn exists does not prove anything at all. However, the Bible is a napkin. It is a well preserved document with tons of manuscript dating

@ErieMarkus

Anyone with an open mind would agree that this is exactly what Daniel was talking about some 200 years earlier. Surely, you've heard this argument and have a response. nation, but without as much power.

Enjoy!

@ErieMarkus
The Evidence is out there.
joxua1five 8 months ago
Whenever I read responses to videos like this, I always find the same response: "What created God? How can God be infinitely old? etc." Well the thing is, God, by definition, cannot exist within the bounds of space and time, meaning that He exists beyond the fourth dimension. This is just basic logic: nothing can create itself, so God must exist outside of creation. This means that god is "timeless," meaning that He is not contained by time and can "just exist."
gelndjjrskcene 8 months ago
@gelndjjrskcene

Atheists or non- believers usually demand evidence from Christians.
joxua1five 8 months ago
@ErieMarkus

85blackboxx 8 months ago
@85blackboxx
What do you mean by "standing on nothing"? I would go far enough to say that Christianity stands on the foundation of the entire history of mankind, not to mention the overwhelming evidence. And, i mean OVERWHELMING. There is so much evidence pointing to the existence of an all powerful creator that it is much harder today to prove God does not exist in the scientific community.
joxua1five 8 months ago
God of the gaps. Also special pleading.
hab99rry 8 months ago
Calling God the "uncaused cause" is special pleading of a laughable kind. You can't use the argument that nothing can be infinitely old, then pivot to say that God has always existed. Your own arguments refute themselves. Go back to the drawing board.
ralph489 8 months ago
@ralph489
He just is.
joxua1five 8 months ago
@joxua1five How would it not work then to assert that the singularity just was? Or that whatever predated it just was? It wouldn't be "infinitely old" by your terminology either. It would just have always existed. Don't pretend like I don't understand. Explain why I'm wrong if you can. Don't resort to assumptions that I am incapable of following the complicated analogy to "dominoes". It's self-defeating. And I've already told you why. Your semantic distinction is meaningless.
ralph489 7 months ago
To refute my argument below, you say that if the Universe were infinitely old, it would run out of energy to be used. But one of the simplest concepts about energy is that it is neither created nor destroyed. How could the usable energy "run out" if this is true? Also, how could the Universe have been created if energy is neither created nor destroyed?
TBarrett144 8 months ago
@TBarrett144 It is true that energy can neither be created or destroyed. But, the usable energy being talked about changes to a form that is no longer useful for say stars. The small hydrogen atom fuses with more hydrogen atoms finally the star is no longer able to be a star and super novas or just stops being a star and becomes say a black hole. The energy just changed form, and that is why the universe is cooling down.
MrItchyElbow 8 months ago
You say: "The Universe came into existence, so what caused it?"
I say your logic is wrong. You automatically think that because it exists, something must have created it, right? So if you apply this logic to Creationism, you find a similar problem. What created God? Christians say God didn't need creation, because he always existed. Why not save a step and say that the Universe always existed? It didn't need a creation. It was always here.
TBarrett144 8 months ago
What caused God to want to create the universe? A question I've been wondering for a while.

I don't know, that's a good question. That's why I read Stephen Hawking and not the Bible. Science (unlike religion) is actually trying to find the answers.
CenkIsAdorable 9 months ago
@CenkIsAdorable
