The Doctor is the best character in all of storyline history and is all we need to know! The Doctor always carries with him the same basic characteristics as he moves on through each incarnation; it'd be daft to say that one of The Doctor's weren't acceptable. Obviously we all have our own opinion on who's the best, but every Doctor is great in it's own way. My own personal opinion: David Tennant is the best Doctor, then Matt Smith shortly behind him, and finally there is Christopher Eccleston.
@ninjashot37 The actors themselves are younger, too. It was originally going to be intentional that Regeneration makes him look younger each incarnation, but even though they ditched the plan, it ended up happening, anyway.
@ninjashot37 in the classic who they went from Tom Baker (40 years old) to Peter Davison (30) and then to Colin Baker (41)... It's not really a rule... The 12th Doctor could be 50! Who knows!
@ninjashot37 It's supposed to be like that. Guess why they only get 13 Regenerations.
Yes, because they won't exist by the time they've done it more than that. Thing is, when they try a 14th Regenertion, they will lose what it means to be Gallifreyan. Benjamin Button Syndrome AND Fan Service.
@WorldWalker128 The newer doctors are bloody amazing at being doctors, and I don't see why they should be pulled from the spotlight so quickly, I'm hoping Smith sticks around for a while, I've enjoyed his time as doctor greatly, and wouldn't mind if he stayed for at least another two years. (SMITH HATERS GO AHEAD AND TROLL, BUT I PERSONALLY THINK HE IS DOING A GREAT JOB.)
@WorldWalker128 It all depends on how long the actor chooses to stay in the position (with the exception of stuff Colin Baker getting fired, but that was the result of executive meddling and the show getting put on hiatus). Eccleston didn't like how things were run and Tennant wanted to leave while it still felt fresh.
I loved the tenth doctor, and I will NEVER forget how Tennant played the doctor. He was brilliant, charismatic, and fun... Personally I am glad they didn't try to get a doctor to imitate his personality, because he deserves to be a unique version of the Doctor. Now Smith... He is funny and charming in his own way. He doesn't need to match Tennant's performance because it is one all his own and he does it very well. Brilliant actor.
@Kikora21 I think the tenth doctor was the best for the series personally, although the ninth doctor put down a better performance of the 'cool surface with raging fire behind it' kind of personality. Despite that I enjoyed watching the David more, not sure why. Sorry Christopher :P. Matt's cool too, but for some reason he feels less like the Doctor to me.
is it just me or does anyone else get a strong stringed instrument vibe from this song? plus a little bit of WW (that's woodwinds for all you people who aren't in band or have had some past band experience)
Every Doctor is different. Every actor is different. That's all. Tennant was not Eccleston, and Smith is not Tennant. All of them are GOOD actors, and GOOD doctors. That's one of the things of why I love Doctor Who. If the Doctor has the same personality it'll be boring as hell, and probably won't stay on TV for so much. Yeah, I know, some doctors are better than others, but no one of them were BAD. ALL were GOOD. In my opinion, Tennant>Smith>Eccleston
@TheChosedOne7 I agree, Eccleston was a good Doctor and it took a LONG time for the to find an actor which suited the role like he did...The problem with people complaining is that David Tennant really WAS meant to play the role of the Doctor and people complain about Matt Smith because the poor guy had an AMAZING performance to live up to...Matt Smith is a GOOD Doctor but Tennant was a fucking AMAZING one and it's hard to live up to the kind of fan base which David Tennant created...
I struggle with Smith. Tennant was so good that Smith can't be good, and that is the sad part. After the insane talents of both Eccleston and Tennant, NO doctor will ever be looked upon quite the same, and will have a shadow over their roll. I wish I could appreciate Smith, but I just can't now.
@Enzar17 I really hate that point of view. David Tennant even told people to try to accept Matt Smith but now fanboys can't get over themselves long enough to appreciate that Smith is just different, not worse.
@Takhilin Or you could not be a fucking asshole about my opinion. I was a civil as possible in that comment, and you are just sounding ignorant, so now I'm going to be blunt. MATT SMITH IS NOT A GOOD ACTOR. The transition between Chris Eccleston and David Tennant was very smooth because Tennant could play the part very well. Smith, on the other hand, over-acts. He tries to overcompensate, and this really bites him in the ass. He comes out looking childish, and nothing like a timelord.
@Takhilin On top of that, he adds this weird lisp thing that just sounds bad. A good example of this is if you could compare the two in describing a bomb of sorts. Tennant would call it "some sort of explosive device that can alter the fabric of reality." Smith would call it a "timey wimey splodey wodey thing." Do you understand the retarded difference now? Please do me the favor of not responding to this, lest I have to keep going.
@Enzar17 I respect your opinion, but I find Matt to be okay. You are acting quite fanboyishly as well, to be quite frank. A real Whovian accepts and appreciates EVERY Doctor, and gives their own criticism and favor to each. Takhilin was right, Matt isn't bad, just different.
@LTS1337 Yes, but can you at least understand where I am coming from? If you honestly compare the acting styles of the three, Tennant and Eccleston are both better actors as a whole. What I continually find about Smith is he isn't making the roll his own in the way the other two did. He seems almost intimidated by it. Also, the reason I reacted that way was because I essentially said the same thing as MatrixSpay, just in a more round about way, and I'M the one who gets attacked for it.
@Enzar17 Smith does make the role his own, and how can you say he isn't timelord-ish? each doctor was different. 1 was old and serious, 2 was joking enough to look like he should be in 'Last of the Summer Wine', 3 tried to be fashionable and different, 4 was quirky yet loveable, 5 was the youngster at 26, 6 was a mid-life crisis, 7 was bizarre, 8 was romantic, 9 was battle scarred and 10 was a mix of serious and funny. Smith has taken small elements from all, to create his own unique mix
@Enzar17 no need to be so hard on Smith. it is obvious that after Tennant it would be a hard task to beat him. He is only 23, with a limited past in acting. Also, he grew up in the interim between the original and revived series so has had no inspiration from actors before Eccleston/Tennant. And, if you think about it, he has to be different enough to stand out yet be similar enough to be recognisable as the same character of the past nearly 50 years, which is hard.
@InhabitantOfOddworld I suppose you're right. With a limited past acting experience, it would be hard to set up a character so dear to people's hearts. Although, there was another choice for the eleventh doctor, the new Sherlock. I think he would have been a better choice. It's a pity he turned down the roll.
@Enzar17 it is a pity, but most people would be the Doctor over Sherlock. With Sherlock, you have to fit into a certain persona, whereas the doctor is totally versatile from incarnation to incarnation. plus, you would get fit companions and go to different worlds.
@InhabitantOfOddworld well, you do know why he turned it down, right? he said he didn't want to get involved with a roll that big. maybe after he establishes his characters in the acting world, he'll be ready to accept the roll
@Enzar17 Smith's style of language may be 'retarded' as you call it, but that is down to the script writers and the rest of the production team. his whole character, from his outfit to the tardis exterior, are all past references. the St John's Ambulance logo from doctor 1, outfit from doctor 2, use of 'timey wimey' from doctor 5, etc. it isn't all down to Smith. Thats like saying Dialogue in Apollo 13 was Tom hank's fault, or costumes in 'Top Gun' was down to Tom Cruise.
in my head i allways called this one " no more dieing." it allways seemd to play when he got pissed and ether went all genocide on us ( see "the runaway bride") or tryes to save evryone ( the waters of mars)
@StarWars6820 I prefer Matt Smith. He screams alien, cool, retro, timelord, awkard, temporally displaced, ridiculous, funny, mad hatter, cool.... I like Matt Smith WAY more than David Tennant. Although Tennant is the second on my list, with Pertwee on third place. Hmm, *third* place. Funny, come to think about it.
@TheMegamantogo1 Yeah! Well, they have made a few, but only the PC games (which are free) are any good. I think they should make a PS3 game of every season! D
@hellwolfe79 I thought i say David Tennant in a trailer for the upcoming episodes. But idk don't take my word for it. It be the awesum if they did tho
DT is an awesome Doctor and Matt DEFO does have an E P I C theme, but I always will have DT and the 8th doctor in my heart (I am a proper geek). I love this theme also 8)
In my opinion Matt smith is the better doctor, and has the better music. But Tennant had far better scripts and storylines to work with. He's in some of the best episodes of all time.
Most if not all doctors must have been excelent, otherwise they would have never been doctors at all, just meager actors with other roles that do not bring as much warmth to our hearts and hope to our souls.
Wow usually a lot of obnoxious arguments happen on the comment section of any YouTube video, but I love how on this one so many people seem to expect people to lash out at them for their comments yet no one has... just something I noticed and wanted to point out.
I'd like to say I have a favorite regeneration of the Doctor, but I can't; each regeneration is unique and fun and amazing, and it is impossible to compare them to each other. As such, when asked my favorite regeneration, I simply say "Yes." xD
But without the music...it wouldn't be nearly so cool.
My friend, a long-time Whovian, introduced me to the show with Matt Smith's first season. I will say, though, listening to this, I can hear a similarity between Tennant's and Smith's themes!
It may just be me, but there's something rather Harry Potter-ish about this theme. Dramatic, whimsical. [Given that he was Barty Crouch Junior as well...]
The 9th and 10th Doctor's were still fresh from the war; fighters. A lot has happened to The Doctor since then so now a less "militaristic" theme is a nice change. This still gives me chills, but the new theme is awe inspiring.
@shoman11228 At least you... censored... your response? Or was that meant to be taken as a literal beep? I want to think it's the latter, because an angry beeping noise is much funnier than a hidden swear.
@teenagepuma Each and every doctor has a place in your heart when you have time and perspective, and access to all the series they made, to sit back and enjoy them. Each Doctor is an era, a wonder, a joy to experience no matter how different they are. Revel in the Last Time Lord and embrace the Regeneration! :)
Thanks I've been looking for this for ages! :)

@TheMegamantogo1 Yeah! Well, they have made a few, but only the PC games (which are free) are any good. I think they should make a PS3 game of every season! D
TheCalebxy 6 months ago
Every regeneration is my favorite regeneration :D
dbzcoolman23 6 months ago
They should make the 11th go back in time to work withs the 10th docter! O: THAT WOULD FCKIN ROCK!
hellwolfe79 6 months ago
@hellwolfe79 Yeah to fight aginst the master that the 10th had to fight, and a new one the 11th had to fight.
11halofan 6 months ago
@hellwolfe79 That would make the time vortex collapse.
But there's always the Meta-Crisis Doctor...
The3rdPenguin 6 months ago
@hellwolfe79 I thought i say David Tennant in a trailer for the upcoming episodes. But idk don't take my word for it. It be the awesum if they did tho
CJFRANKS7 6 months ago
@mooha15 good point. Younlike tennant or smith more? Frankly, I think matt dosent bring much life to the character.
Phantos2012 6 months ago
Is that ... The Doctor in Borderlands?
randomperson11111123 6 months ago
@randomperson11111123 I'll take your comment as a joke, since I think Borderlands is some sort of RPG.
Serious though... I think it was the cartoon series Dreamland... =D
Nice little joke though... if it was one.. o.O
QuirkyGirl12345 6 months ago
@QuirkyGirl12345 Yeah it was a joke, the art style looks like the RPG Borderlands is all. Gonna look up that cartoon series you mentioned though.
randomperson11111123 6 months ago
DT is an awesome Doctor and Matt DEFO does have an E P I C theme, but I always will have DT and the 8th doctor in my heart (I am a proper geek). I love this theme also 8)
lilmissglentoran 6 months ago
Well, David Tennant is the better Doctor, but Matt Smith definately has the better action theme!

In my opinion Matt smith is the better doctor, and has the better music. But Tennant had far better scripts and storylines to work with. He's in some of the best episodes of all time.

Much as i love David Tennant, Matt Smith is just the most awesome Doctor. With a little help of Moffat, of course :3 :)
StormLya 8 months ago
did you make this picture of find it on das interwebs?
smaand1 8 months ago
@smaand1 it's from an animated doctor who episode online
Murdock129 8 months ago
Whilst this has some suspense at the start and has a bit of a militarian feel to it
where you can imagine the Doctor with his 'army' behind him all doing teamwork and Tennant is my favourite Doctor
You've got to admit with Smith's action theme, you hear that and you know the sunglasses are on and shit's going down
it can make even doing maths homework feel like saving the world
wolvesveil 8 months ago
Most if not all doctors must have been excelent, otherwise they would have never been doctors at all, just meager actors with other roles that do not bring as much warmth to our hearts and hope to our souls.
MrWanderer1986 8 months ago 3
@Rmg12 Ya I totally agree!

Wow usually a lot of obnoxious arguments happen on the comment section of any YouTube video, but I love how on this one so many people seem to expect people to lash out at them for their comments yet no one has... just something I noticed and wanted to point out.
bb12321234x 8 months ago
Matt Smith's music is a LOT better. But David is still a better doctor. and the third doctor (Jon Pertwee) reigns supreme.
Nitroglycerine1000 8 months ago
when I hear the music I imagine Judoon stomping around
dinosaursrule236 8 months ago
I used to think that David Tennant was the best Doctor. After watching Matt smith, I have to say, he is better.
loafofbread300 8 months ago
it's great how you can see how it evolved into 11's action theme
Rmg12 8 months ago
Isn't this 'All the Strange Strange Creatures' or a variation upon that?
rushihera 9 months ago
11's theme is better for when the action starts but 10's is better to just listen to outside the show. For me at least.

[Given that he was Barty Crouch Junior as well...]
schreigeist7 9 months ago 2
Sorry but the 11th Doctor's action theme is the best they've ever done.
I won't disclose my opinion of who the better Doctor is because that would start a riot here (MATTSMITH!!)
Nilanna 9 months ago
is there a hq version of this?
Lal398667 9 months ago 2
I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this, but I think... I may like... Matt's theme a bit more...
(Dodges a rotten tomato)
Hey! I still like this one too! I just like the other one slightly more...
RikuReplicate 9 months ago 3
@RikuReplicate matts does sound better
more original doctor theme is a way
predfan45 9 months ago
@RikuReplicate
The 9th and 10th Doctor's were still fresh from the war; fighters. A lot has happened to The Doctor since then so now a less "militaristic" theme is a nice change. This still gives me chills, but the new theme is awe inspiring.

shoman11228 9 months ago
@shoman11228 At least you... censored... your response? Or was that meant to be taken as a literal beep? I want to think it's the latter, because an angry beeping noise is much funnier than a hidden swear.

@teenagepuma Each and every doctor has a place in your heart when you have time and perspective, and access to all the series they made, to sit back and enjoy them. Each Doctor is an era, a wonder, a joy to experience no matter how different they are. Revel in the Last Time Lord and embrace the Regeneration! :)
