It does not cost that much more, or that much of a burden, to avoid flying over major urban centers. It is in the name of safety. Body scanners should be used at every airport.

The security for flying grew out of the terrorist hijackings in the 70's, we've had it ever since, it's beatiful in EUrope for example, there is no more customs between members of the EU, but the whole security thing give "them" a chance to look through your baggage... drive in your car from Berlin to Paris nobody looks at anything, but take a plane and you have to be body scanned and your belongings x-rayed?
The last thing I would want is US customs agents installed in the airports in Europe, there is already enough nonsense, I don't want any foreigners screening people as well, they would start screening people flying to the US and within a year they would be screening everyone...just in case one day they might go to the US...
